Getting Stronger By Fighting
Chapter 1144 - 1142: Wang Zhan’s Decision
Upon hearing this, Wang Zhan shook his head. He did inadvertently neglect Xuan Yu, but there were indeed quite a few people in the Great Hall then, so much so that he hadn’t even seen a trace of Xuan Yu.
However, since he had returned to the Sky Pavilion, he naturally wouldn’t need to worry too much in the future; there would always be opportunities to catch up.
Wang Zhan’s gaze fell on Xuan Yu as he spoke again, "By the way, the Old Master has left, and for the time being, all matters within the Sky Pavilion are entrusted to you and Dong Tianlei. Moreover, I have things to handle, and I believe it won’t be long before I leave this area, rush to the Fifth War Zone, and explain Xiang Tian’s situation to his family clearly."
Wang Zhan sighed helplessly; at the mention of Xiang Tian, his expression changed significantly. After all, they had come together to the Star War Battlefield back then, and he had promised Xiang Tian’s family that he would unconditionally protect Xiang Tian, no matter what situation they faced, ensuring Xiang Tian would not encounter any issues. Yet this time he broke his word, although he had stood by Xiang Tian unconditionally and had risked his life several times for Xiang Tian and Luo Xue...
However, those were things of the past; regardless of the time, since he had promised, he had to follow through. Although they encountered formidable opponents, Xiang Tian ultimately lost his life.
People always look at the results—who cares about the process?
Even Wang Zhan himself was deeply trapped in self-blame.
Beside him, Xuan Yu shook his head. Though his relationship with Xiang Tian was quite good, he continued, "I know you’re very saddened, but how am I any different? Now that he’s gone, the best we can do is make ourselves better so he can feel at ease up there. What do you think?"
Up there?
Wang Zhan slightly furrowed his brow and glanced at the sky. Having arrived on the Star War Battlefield, the sky here is much brighter than the one on the previous planet, though no longer azure. The most crucial point is that the Star War Battlefield sits above all the planets, and after people die, why might they appear even higher up in the sky?
Wang Zhan shook his head, choosing not to dwell on these thoughts further, and continued speaking: "Fine, go ahead and busy yourself. Please let everyone know: don’t prepare too elaborately tonight; it’s not like I’m not coming back anymore. Although I plan to head to the Fifth War Zone, I will rush back as soon as everything is sorted."
Xuan Yu nodded, then smiled as he walked away.
It’s mainly because everyone in the Sky Pavilion was quite exhilarated; Wang Zhan had been away for too long. Though many had heard stories about Wang Zhan, few had seen him.
With Wang Zhan’s sudden return, naturally, he became the focus of everyone’s attention, and everyone wanted to make proper arrangements and converse with Wang Zhan.
All of this was quite predictable.
In the following hours, Wang Zhan returned to his room to rest well. Recently, he had been traveling constantly and dealing with different issues, which was indeed somewhat tiring.
During his time in the Thunder Domain, though seemingly serene and hidden within Ten Thousand Sword City, the Thunder Domain perpetually roared with thunder, even at night.
Wang Zhan could hardly fathom how people lived there; have they got accustomed to the thunder?
No matter how others manage, he couldn’t tolerate it; now having the chance to lie in a tranquil and comfortable space, naturally, he needed to relax.
Upon nightfall, a knocking outside roused Wang Zhan, who then slowly opened his eyes.
Soon after, he walked to the door and opened it. Seeing Xuan Yu standing outside, he asked, "What’s the matter?"
Xuan Yu smiled broadly, saying, "Everyone is all prepared now, waiting downstairs for you. If you’ve rested enough, shall we go down, and you can gather with them?"
Wang Zhan nodded. He didn’t particularly enjoy such occasions, but given everyone’s sincere efforts and having prepared a welcome banquet, common courtesy required he appeared before everyone.
Soon, Wang Zhan and Xuan Yu descended the stairs.
Looking around, everyone in the Sky Pavilion had been waiting for quite some time. With Wang Zhan’s appearance, all eyes converged on him, making him the focal point.
Wang Zhan waved to everyone and slowly spoke, "No need for such a grand gesture, everyone. We’re all so familiar; just continue eating and drinking. Later, I need to return to rest early, plus I must inform you all—I plan to visit the Fifth War Zone with Luo Xue tomorrow, but I’ll return promptly, so no need for concern."
Everyone exchanged glances but didn’t say much.
They wouldn’t dare sway Wang Zhan’s intentions, though it was slightly worrisome. They hoped to improve their cultivation by staying close to him and learn more skills, but unexpectedly, Wang Zhan just returned and planned to leave.
Soon, everyone took their seats, and Sword Spirit approached Wang Zhan. After casually picking a table to sit at, Sword Spirit began slowly, "You plan to return to the Fifth War Zone? To explain Xiang Tian’s matter to them, right?"
Being someone who valued relationships greatly, Wang Zhan couldn’t hold back Xiang Tian’s sudden incident from those in the Fifth War Zone.
Wang Zhan didn’t hide anything from Sword Spirit, nodding and smiling, saying, "I’ve come to terms with this matter, but I must properly explain it to Xiang Tian’s family. If they hold any grievances, I’ll unconditionally compensate them!"
Though back then, the group compelled him to take Xiang Tian with him, and Xiang Tian wanted to follow Wang Zhan, so Wang Zhan took Xiang Tian along. Had he known it would end this way, he certainly wouldn’t have.
The bond between Wang Zhan, Xiang Tian, and Luo Xue was beyond others’ imagination.
After their separation, Xiang Tian continually improved his power, willing to sacrifice his life to become a strong force.
That greatly shocked Wang Zhan, and if not for his aid, Xiang Tian likely wouldn’t have survived as long as he did.
Sadly, everyone’s fate might be set by the heavens; even if you break free, you’ll return to square one.
Sword Spirit continued, "If that’s the case, I’ll come along, offering you support. Should anything arise, I’ll aid you."
"The Fifth War Zone may have low-level demonic beasts, but nobody knows if changes have occurred on the Star War Battlefield. If strong enemies appear, I fear you might struggle..."
Although Sword Spirit cared for him, Wang Zhan chuckled awkwardly, glancing at Sword Spirit and speaking slowly, "So, to you, I’m just a useless failure?"
Sword Spirit quickly waved his hand, explaining, "I don’t mean that; it’s that nobody knows what might happen on the Star War Battlefield. You’ve been here so long, surely understanding the basics; hence, being cautious is necessary."
Wang Zhan shook his head, looking determined as he spoke, "Now that Feng Tianci has left the Sky Pavilion, expert warriors must remain here. Fire Qilin and Hexagonal Golden Snake surely focus on improving their cultivation, ignoring the Sky Pavilion affairs. So retaining the Pavilion’s stability falls to you, and you need to stay."
Though Sword Spirit wished to say more, seeing Wang Zhan’s determined look, he reluctantly nodded, saying slowly, "Alright, if that’s your decision, I won’t hinder you more, but should anything happen, promptly inform me. I won’t allow harm to come to you."
Wang Zhan, Xiang Tian, and Luo Xue’s friendship was profound, but so was his bond with Sword Spirit.
Without Sword Spirit’s help in the past, Wang Zhan might’ve lost his life long ago.
Their bond was beyond others’ comprehension.
