Getting a Sugar Mommy in Cultivation World!!
Chapter 867 - 867: Kai Kai Is No More
"Could that really be the case?" When Yuan Ming lensed the true purpose of the final trial, he frowned. if they went according to the assumption, it would be taking a very huge risk.
"I can't think of anything else. Even though it is a very idiotic and dumb decision, it makes a little sense thinking about the nature of the sects of the unorthodox path."
Standing up from the bed, Noah looked at the boy before him and added, "Whatever, let's get this over with and get out of this cave."
"Huh?" Yuan Ming looked back dumbfoundedly, seeing Noah's reaching for his chipped blade and slowly unsheathing it. "Wait—"
Before he could even utter a word, the sword swung down...
Swish!
Thud!
***
After an hour since his meeting with Yuan Ming, Noah was seen walking down the streets of their temporary accommodation.
Everyone in the streets was looking at Noah as if he were some sort of monster.
"To think he already managed to complete the task before everyone else." Someone uttered seeing a huge piece of bloody rag Noah was carrying on his shoulder.
"Better stay clear of him from now on."
"Black haired demon is so cruel, just like the heavenly demon."
"Hey, watch your words. You cannot say shit like that here."
Everyone could tell that the rag seemed to be wrapped around a dead body since the arm of the person was dangling out in the open.
The reason they assumed Noah already passed the trial was because he was walking in the direction of the mansion of the Supervisor Gui.
Now, why would Noah go there with a dead body if he had not already completed the mission?
"The demonic cult is so cruel." A young woman whispered with pity from one corner, but coldness in her eyes steeled as she glanced at the boy standing in front of her.
"If we want to survive, we can only act the way the cult tells us to." The woman whispered under her breath while clutching the short blade tied to her waist.
The boy turned around to face the woman, who suddenly shifted her expression, putting on a dreary smile and saying, "We should also hurry and complete our tasks."
The boy nodded and gestured for the woman to move ahead. Just as she walked past him and took a step forward, a blade passed through her stomach, causing her to stagger.
"Why?" The woman looked back with a teary look on her face. "I am your wife..."
"Don't tell me you were not thinking of doing the same thing to me." The boy scoffed coldly and stabbed her once more in the heart.
Many scenes of deception like this could be seen all around the area. It was like a demon had taken over them, and they were willing to do anything just to get out of the cave alive and join the Heavenly Demon Cult.
While the others were rushing to kill each other, there was a person who had yet to move.
Liu Yue
She was watching Noah's every move with confusion, trying to understand every little thing he did. In her eyes, there was confusion, coldness, and regret.
'Did he really kill that boy?' She pressed her hand against her heart and thought to herself. "I did not even know his name, and now he is dead. I should not be feeling anything, and yet why is this hollow feeling of pain gnawing at my heart?'
Liu Yue already understood that the target everyone was given was the person they were closest to. Noah did not talk to anyone else but Yuan Ming.
Who else could be wrapped in the rag if not Yuan Ming?
…
Noah stepped inside before the gates of the mansion, and before he could even announce his presence, they parted open on their own.
He walked in while carrying the body on his shoulder and saw Supervisor Gui sitting in his courtyard sipping a hot cup of tea with droopy eyes.
"What do we have here?" As Noah drew closer to him, he turned to the boy with a smile on his face. "I had a feeling you would be the first one to arrive, but to think you would come so soon."
"It seems like you have already finished the task." He glanced at the rag Noah was carrying and smirked faintly. "let me see."
As he said that, Noah threw the dead body on the ground. The rag unfurled on its own, and a decapitated body rolled out onto the courtyard floor with a wet, heavy sound.
Blood had soaked through the cloth, leaving dark stains across the stone. The corpse was clearly fresh—killed within the last hour or two based on the color of the blood and the way the muscles were still somewhat rigid.
But there was no head.
Just a neck ending in ragged flesh and exposed bone, the cut jagged and brutal rather than clean.
Supervisor Gui set down his tea cup and leaned forward, examining the body with professional interest. His eyes traced over the clothing, the build, and the hands—looking for identifying features.
After a moment, he looked up at Noah, one eyebrow raised. "Who is this?"
"Kai Kai," Noah replied simply. "The person I was ordered to kill."
The supervisor's eyes narrowed slightly. "And where is his head?"
"Destroyed while killing him," Noah said, his tone completely neutral. "It was necessary to ensure he couldn't use a particular defensive technique centered in his skull meridians. You can understand how hard it is to kill a foundation establishment cultivator even if their cultivation base was sealed."
Supervisor Gui's expression didn't change, but there was a calculating quality to his gaze now.
"Destroyed," he repeated slowly. "I see, what you say makes sense. And how exactly am I supposed to verify this corpse belongs to your target without a head to identify?"
Noah crouched down beside the body without hesitation. His hand moved to the corpse's chest, rifling through the torn robes.
After a moment, he pulled out a small metal token.
Unlike the jade slips used for the assignments, this token was carved from dull iron, about the size of a coin. And engraved on its surface in simple characters was a single name:
KAI KAI
Noah stood and held the token out to Supervisor Gui. "This can confirm he is who I say he is."
