Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day
Chapter 835 560: The Cataclysm Descends
Outside the window, a "dragon" so enormous it defied belief appeared before everyone's eyes.
At a glance, there was no way to see where that "dragon" ended; all they knew was that a single "claw" of it was countless times larger than the Cosmic Transport Ship.
The Cosmos itself was shrouded in darkness to begin with, so the fact that they couldn't see the "dragon's" appearance clearly wasn't anything too strange.
The Cosmic Transport Ship carrying Lu Li, Bronze Furnace and the others happened to be within the boundaries of the star system, so in theory it should have been bathed in the star's light.
Yet at this moment, that unimaginably huge silhouette completely blocked out the starlight!
If a sky-darkening eclipse happened on a planet, that would still be understandable.
But now, out in the Cosmic Space, even the light of the star was being blocked?
This alone was enough to prove one thing: the body of that "dragon" outside the window was at least planetary in size, and might even… be as colossal as a star itself!
Bronze Furnace's pupils shrank sharply!
Bai Guang and the others were so terrified they didn't dare make a sound.
Even Lu Li—this battle-hardened Soldier King—couldn't help a shudder of horror as he stared at that vast monstrosity outside the window.
He had never imagined that on what was supposed to be a routine transport of war supplies, they would encounter such a terrifying cosmic lifeform along the way!
They were done for!
This time they were truly doomed!
Lu Li's first reaction was that they were in serious trouble.
The strange thing was, this gargantuan "dragon" didn't attack the Cosmic Transport Ship, but instead rushed rapidly ahead at a speed that looked slow yet was in fact faster than light.
Very soon, everyone got a clearer sense of just how gigantic this "dragon's" body really was—or rather, they still couldn't see it clearly at all, because within the visible spectrum they simply couldn't see where the "dragon's" tail was.
There was only one explanation: this "dragon's" body was very likely much larger than the entire star system!
Lu Li stared, dumbfounded, then turned his head to Bronze Furnace beside him. "Pi… Pi Fu, brother, I… I remember you just said that iron-based life can ignore all kinds of high-energy cosmic radiation, that even a supernova explosion can't harm it in the slightest. Is that right?"
Pi Fu's eyes were vacant. "Y-yeah… that's what I heard from my superior. He once had the fortune to see a top-secret file."
What?
A real supernova explosion couldn't even harm a cosmic lifeform like the one before them?
One had to know that a supernova explosion was caused by a brief yet violent detonation of a star.
In that process, the star releases an immense amount of energy more than a hundred times the mass of the original star itself and blasts it out into the surrounding Cosmic Space.
The energy released by each supernova explosion can be equivalent to the total luminosity of the entire Milky Way Galaxy over about one million years combined.
It was easy to imagine just how terrifying the energy unleashed by a supernova explosion was.
And now, Pi Fu had actually confirmed that a supernova explosion truly couldn't harm iron-based life?
If they followed that line of reasoning, then even if all the Interstellar Alliance technologies in the Milky Way Galaxy were combined, it would still be impossible to inflict any damage on that colossal creature they had just seen!
At that thought, Lu Li couldn't help sucking in a sharp breath of cold air.
If that cosmic lifeform were to truly fly into a rage and rampage through the Milky Way Galaxy, who would be able to stop its destruction?
Kamu said gravely, "Let's not let our imaginations run wild. That creature isn't necessarily iron-based life. As long as it isn't iron-based, there's still a chance to kill it with sufficiently advanced technology."
Luo Mountain, however, could only give a bitter smile. "Do you really think that's possible? If it isn't iron-based life, how could it possess such an enormous body? Normally, carbon-based life can only grow to a dozen meters tall or so at most—take the Purple Potato Titan Race, for example. Silicon-based life might be a bit larger, but even the biggest only reach thirty to forty meters. Have you ever seen a cosmic lifeform bigger than a star system? Not star-sized, not star-system-sized, but larger than a star system! Aside from iron-based life, no lifeform can sustain the operation of such a colossal body. So… it has to be iron-based life!"
At those words, all the soldiers in the rest pod fell silent.
An iron-based lifeform larger than a star system was absolutely not something any technological force could withstand!
Right now, all they could do was pray that the colossal cosmic lifeform wouldn't do something that would incur the wrath of heaven and men.
Just as everyone was thinking along those lines…
Suddenly, they saw ahead of them a burst of radiance rising up—so dazzling it was like a star exploding.
And within that searingly intense brilliance was an incomparably huge silhouette.
Unsurprisingly, it was the same cosmic lifeform that had just passed by them!
Bronze Furnace's expression changed. "Looks like we were all wrong!"
Lu Li gritted his teeth and said, "We have to report this to our superiors as fast as possible. Best case, the superiors can ask the Superpower Corps to step in, otherwise I honestly can't imagine any way to defeat such an utterly terrifying iron-based lifeform."
He had once witnessed the terrifying combat power of the Superpower Corps under Lu Li's command and already regarded them as godlike.
As a result, Lu Li was very confident that if the Superpower Corps took the field, they should be able to annihilate this iron-based lifeform.
Of course, he had also witnessed Lu Li's boundless divine might and knew he was the most powerful existence in the Cosmos, for whom resolving an iron-based lifeform would be effortless.
It was just that he felt there was no need to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut. If the Superpower Corps stepped in, they could resolve it; there was no need to necessarily ask the True God to act in person.
…
Two days later.
Baba Claw Star.
Experienced the destruction of its star system.
