Chapter 1399: Chapter 693: Another Suspect? Too Rash_2

Luo Fei spoke seriously.

“Miss, I understand your perspective. I also know that anyone who sees such news and discovers that the person they’ve been involved with may have significant issues will be affected. It’s even likely that their own situation feels dangerous. This is perfectly reasonable, so there’s no need to be too conflicted or overly anxious.”

It was only after discussing the situation and receiving the novel from the other party.

Li Yu couldn’t help but click his tongue.

“Mr. Luo, when it comes down to it, you have more patience. If it were me, I might not believe her words.”

Li Yu understood well. Some people like to spread rumors. Or, once bitten by a snake, you’re afraid of ropes for ten years.

It’s also possible she has some old grudge with Sun Zhiwei.

So she wants to settle personal scores publicly.

Thinking about this made Li Yu have no sympathy for the girl.

Moreover, looking at the thick novel.

Li Yu was somewhat troubled.

“And Mr. Luo, this book is really too thick. If we want to finish reading it, it might take quite some effort.”

Seeing Li Yu’s concern.

Luo Fei was noncommittal.

“That’s easy to handle. I’ve thought of a way to quickly deal with this work.”

Li Yu was inevitably surprised.

“Mr. Luo, do you have the ability to speed-read and finish a whole book all at once?”

“Of course not. But I happen to know that a TV series adapted from this book is being filmed recently. We just need to visit the set, check things out, and understand the plot direction.”

Seeing Luo Fei’s confidence.

Li Yu was somewhat hesitant.

“Mr. Luo, will this really work?”

At this moment.

Li Yu was genuinely apprehensive.

Luo Fei was also noncommittal.

“Otherwise, there seems to be no faster way to understand the matter, right?”

A moment later.

As Li Yu and Luo Fei arrived at the set together.

The director was already waiting for them.

“Officer, I’ve come to understand a bit of the situation you mentioned on the phone. We indeed received such a script.”

Through the director’s explanation.

Luo Fei realized.

When they received the script earlier, they already knew.

The author of the script had special requirements, asking the production team not to change most of the plot and structure from the original work.

It had to be filmed according to the original script.

Such requirements seemed quite ordinary to Luo Fei.

He calmly commented.

“This at most seems like a minor requirement from the production team, right? Plus, many fans of the original work don’t like dramatized plot changes, so it’s a normal request.”

However, hearing Luo Fei’s nonchalant tone.

The director chuckled.

“Officer, if it’s just that, then fine. But the issue is, we’ve indeed received instructions from the big boss of the production team. He also mentioned that he can’t let go of his feelings for his girlfriend and wants the film to be shot according to his own vision and will…”

The director’s explanation piqued Luo Fei’s curiosity.

“So, the other party wants you to shoot the film according to their vision, right?”

“And they’re hoping you’ll not only respect the original work but also incorporate some of their personal sentiments?”

The director chuckled again.

“Officer, such things are hard for us to comment on.”

“We’re just following the production team’s requirements. Moreover, the production team specifically instructed us to comply with their demands, or else they won’t provide the budget.”

The director spoke with a hint of embarrassment.

Seeing his awkwardness.

Li Yu remarked.

“Mr. Luo, it seems we were not mistaken.”

“This matter, from the beginning, was exactly as we thought?”

After further conversation with the director about the storyline of the shoot.

Luo Fei had formed a plan.

“Director, the truth is I should thank you for this.”

“Without your proactive help, we wouldn’t have gathered so many clues. We owe it all to you.”

Hearing Luo Fei’s praise.

The director was a bit sheepish, scratching his head.

“Mr. Luo, truth be told, our TV drama is still being filmed. I wonder if any findings from this investigation might affect our future shooting?”

The director seemed hesitant.

He spoke cautiously.

A trace of awkwardness surfaced on his face.

Luo Fei laughed and shook his head.

“Director, you’re overthinking this. You should know that our police investigations focus strictly on relevant parties.”

“And if this TV drama is almost done filming, then by the time the truth of the case is close to being uncovered, you could use the report as a promotional opportunity for the film itself. So, by looking at it this way, it’s actually a good thing, isn’t it?”

Seeing Luo Fei’s amused shake of his head.

The director broke out in a sweat.

“So that’s how Mr. Luo sees it…”

The director seemed hesitant.

His speech felt awkward.

Luo Fei added.

“In summary, our police investigation will maintain confidentiality. Don’t inquire about anything else.”

“Understood, Mr. Luo, rest assured, we definitely wouldn’t dare ask too much.”

Observing the director’s discomfort.

Li Yu was still somewhat worried.

“Mr. Luo, can this director really keep everything confidential? I doubted it.”

Li Yu’s hesitance was apparent.

His expressions showed complexity as he spoke.

Luo Fei comforted him with a smile.

“Li Yu, there’s no need to fret over this.”

“I can say with confidence, now that there’s investment, the director surely hopes for a box office success. If problems arise, they’d bear the risk. So, I believe he won’t court trouble.”

During their conversation.

Sun Zhiwei had arrived on set with his secretary and assistant.

“Mr. Luo, what brings you here?”

Sun Zhiwei deliberately feigned curiosity.

Though in reality, he knew why Luo Fei was there.

His demeanor remained calm.

“Mr. Sun, isn’t it obvious? We’re investigating the case, and hope you’ll cooperate. Is Mr. Sun willing?”

Luo Fei’s concerned yet feigned expression was apparent.

Sun Zhiwei responded impassively.

“Mr. Luo, you’re joking. Since the police are investigating, cooperating is our civic duty and obligation, so there’s no question of willingness.”

Sun Zhiwei maintained his composure.

Continuing on in a calm and indifferent manner.

Luo Fei was noncommittal.

“It’s good that Mr. Sun understands.”

“After all, we’ve also learned from others that the TV drama is based on real events. Naturally, we’re curious whether the case is as we suspect, similar or perhaps identical to some scenes in the drama.”

Luo Fei’s words prompted Sun Zhiwei to pause.

“Oh, so that’s how it is.”

Sun Zhiwei seemed surprised.

Luo Fei continued.

“Mr. Sun, since you’re here today, why not discuss the situation? Saves me a special trip later, don’t you think?”

Luo Fei expressed his thoughts to Sun Zhiwei.

Sun Zhiwei then couldn’t help but laugh.

“Mr. Luo, your words are a bit baffling to me.”

“After all, this is just a novel, fictionalized from real events, but not entirely reality. Judging entirely by the novel, or investigating based on it, isn’t it somewhat too arbitrary?”
