Chapter 384: Biting Bambi Butcher

  • Next Chapter

"Oh my goodness, is she dead?" Faye said as she kept staring at the bloody body on the cold ground.

She dropped down on her knees beside the limp girl, her eyes wide with complete horror while her chest heaved up and down in rapid, uneven waves.

Her lungs pulled in short, ragged gasps of night air, her pulse hammering like a wild drum inside her throat as her hands trembled violently above the soaked fabric.

This was like a horror film.

This was just someone she had a quarrel with yesterday, and now she was lying on the ground.

Malo placed his ear on Bambi’s chest, trying to find a single heartbeat.

He pressed his face flat against her bloody jacket, his own lungs holding a desperate breath while his pulse thundered frantically in his ears, searching for any sign of life. He could hear one, but it was faint. The tiny, weak thud barely vibrated against his cheek, his heart sinking into a dark pit as his body went cold with fear.

Bambi was fading. She could kick the bucket at any time. Her skin felt like ice under his cheek, her shallow breathing coming out in tiny, ghostly puffs through her pale lips.

"She is still breathing, Faye. She is still alive," Malo said, his voice cracking with pure desperation while his chest expanded in a fast, panicked draft of air, his hands clutching Bambi’s shoulders.

"W-we have to call an ambulance or find help... We can’t let her die. I don’t have my phone with me... Call an ambulance Malo. I can’t..." Faye said, losing it.

This was a shock to both of them. She slapped her hands against dress, her fingers coming up completely empty as her breath hitched sharply in her throat, her eyes darting around the dark road in total panic.

"Faye, your blood heals wounds, right? Give her some. She is not going to make it. Her pulse is fading," Malo said as he examined her, trying to use one or two techniques he had learned as an assistant to the school nurse.

He ripped open Bambi’s bloody shirt with shaking hands, his breath coming in fast, shallow huffs through his mouth while his mind raced through basic first aid.

Seeing all the bullets in her body, he frowned. The metal casings were buried deep in her pale flesh, blood oozing around them in thick streams, making his pulse leap with sheer terror.

"The bullets need to come out before you give her your blood. She is dying, Faye. What should we do?"

Malo began to cry. Hot tears burst from his eyes, streaming down his pale cheeks as his lungs heaved in heavy, sobbing gasps, his hands shaking so hard he could barely touch her skin.

The girl lying on the ground was once his friend back in that place where Butcher held them. She used to call him Compa.

They may have issues now, but death was not what he wished for someone like her... or anyone else.

Watching her die was something he was never going to recover from. The raw terror choked his throat, making his chest rise in jagged, painful waves as he looked up at his best friend.

When he looked at Faye, she was also in shock. She sat frozen on the ground, her eyes glassy and unblinking while her lungs barely pulled in tiny, stiff drafts of air, her posture completely stiffened by fear.

"Faye..." he called, holding her shoulder and shaking it to make her snap out of it.

"We have to save her. We cannot watch her die," Malo said. He pulled her closer to the motionless body, his lungs expanding with a sharp, pleading breath while his eyes searched her pale face.

"She is dead Malo," Faye’s voice came out flat and hollow, her throat completely dry as her chest rose in a single, defeated wave, her eyes staring blankly at the blood pooled on the road.

"She is fading. The one in her heart is fatal. You have to bite her." Malo insisted,

"What?" Faye blinked, her mind stumbling over the crazy demand while her heart gave a sudden, sharp thud against her ribs.

"She is not going to make it. If we take her to the hospital, she will die. Even if we cut out the bullets, she will still die because of the bullet in her heart. The only way to save her is for you to bite her. Use your Moon Wolf bite." Malo argued passionately, his chest heaving up and down in rapid, chaotic movements while his hands reached back down to Bambi’s body.

Malo kept on checking the girl’s pulse. His fingers pressed firm against her cold neck, his breath locking dead in his throat as nothing hit his fingertips, his pulse thundering in sheer horror.

He thrust the limp, blood-stained hand into Faye’s palms, his own lungs pumping out frantic, breathless gasps as he stared at her.

"Bite her, Faye. Come on." He urged loudly, his tears dropping onto Bambi’s quiet chest while his heart raced like a wild animal.

Faye gripped the cold, lifeless arm tightly, her eyes narrowing as her chest swelled with a deep, desperate draft of air, her mind focusing entirely on keeping this girl alive. She was going to bite Bambi if that was what it took to save her life.

She tried bringing out her fangs, but she was unable to because she couldn’t concentrate. She squeezed her eyes shut, her jaw clenching hard as her breath blew fast through her nose, but her teeth stayed completely normal, her pulse fluttering in sheer frustration.

"My fangs are not coming out..." Faye cried. Tears finally overflowed her lashes, pouring down her cheeks while her chest heaved in short, terrified gasps, her throat choking on the panicked words.

Malo had to punch his best friend more than once so Faye could enter that anger-driven defensive mode.

On the third punch, Faye got angry and pinned him, her eyes flashed with raw, feral heat, a fierce growl tearing out of her throat as her posture locked into solid power, her fangs snapping out sharp and white over her bottom lip while her lungs heaved with violent energy.

The moment she felt them, her sharp teeth sank deep into the pale skin, her jaw clamping down tight while her heart beat a heavy, ancient rhythm against her ribs, her breath rushing hot against the cold limb.

Faye didn’t let go as her fangs remained buried in Bambi’s skin.

"Are you biting her or sucking her blood? What are you doing?"

"I’m trying to feel her pulse, but I’m not feeling anything..." Faye mumbled, still biting her. Her words came out muffled around the cold skin, her heart skipping a bitter beat while her eyes widened in sheer helplessness.

The moment she let go of Bambi’s hand, it dropped effortlessly to the ground.

They didn’t know what to do after that. All they had in mind was to take her somewhere safe, away from the road. They didn’t know what might be lurking in the shadows, and whoever did this to Bambi could still be close. Every rustle of the trees made their postures lock tight, their eyes darting nervously toward the dark woods lining the empty street.

So Malo grabbed Bambi’s legs while Faye lifted her upper body, their arms straining under her weight as their breaths came out in heavy, ragged bursts through their teeth, shoving her quickly into the back of the vehicle before Malo slammed his foot down on the gas.

They placed her body on one of the gym mats, then Sensei examined her properly. The man confirmed that Bambi was gone.

"Is she going to wake up?" Malo asked as both friends stared at the body. He stood with his hands pressed tight against his head, his lungs pumping out short, terrified gasps while his pulse hammered wildly at his temples.

"I am not sure. I don’t even know if I bit her while she was still breathing," Faye said. She stood beside him, her shoulders slumping low as her eyes stared blankly down at the bloody clothes, her breath coming out in a slow, defeated whisper.

"She wasn’t a bad person. Who would have done this to her? If I had checked properly... maybe if I had found her sooner, she would still be alive," Malo said. He buried his face in his hands, his broad shoulders shaking as his chest heaved in heavy, regretful waves, his throat tight with tears.

"It’s not your fault, Malo. It’s nobody’s fault," Faye said. She placed a gentle hand on his back, her own voice trembling while her lungs pulled in a tired, sad draft of gym air.

While they waited for any sign of hope, knowing it might take until the next day to find out whether the bite had worked, they heard footsteps approaching.

When they turned, it was Princess.

She stood near the open double doors, her eyes wide with shock while her posture went completely rigid, her lungs catching a sharp, stunned breath at the scene before her.

"What happened here?" Princess asked as she walked toward the scene, her eyes scanning everything, especially her girlfriend, whose face was swollen from crying.

Faye hugged her girlfriend, crying into her shoulder. She threw her arms tightly around Princess’s neck, her whole body shaking violently as heavy sobs tore out of her throat, her lungs heaving in ragged, desperate gasps while her pulse beat a wild, broken cadence against Princess’s chest.

"She is dead, Princess. She is not breathing," Her voice broke completely against Princess’s gown, her tears soaking through the expensive blue fabric while her heart thundered with raw, unbearable grief.

Princess still didn’t understand what happened, but she tried to comfort her girlfriend. She wrapped her arms securely around Faye’s waist, her own chest expanding in a deep, soothing draft of air while her pulse steadying into a solid, protective beat.

"Hey, it’s okay. Don’t cry. I told you I don’t like seeing you cry," Princess said, gently petting her girlfriend’s hair.

"Everyone around me is dying. First it was Ms. Martha, and now it’s Bambi Butcher," Faye said. She squeezed Princess tighter, her voice trembling with pure agony while her lungs pulled in short, painful gasps of air.

"It’s okay, baby. I’m here." Princess reassured her softly, kissing the top of her head while her arms held her firm, providing a solid anchor in the middle of the horror.

Malo explained everything to Princess, from getting a text message from Sensei to hearing the gunshots, finding Bambi in the middle of the road, and discovering she had multiple gunshot wounds.

He also told her about Faye biting her, but they weren’t sure whether she was going to wake up.

While they were waiting to see the results, Faye complained that she didn’t feel well...

Then she collapsed. Her knees buckled completely beneath her, her body going totally limp as she fell toward the gym floor, Princess’s arms snatching out in a wild, panicked flash to catch her before she hit the ground.
