Chapter 309: Informing The Group about The Contract

  • Next Chapter

Everyone was present in the gym now: Faye, Haley, Sasha, and Malo.

While the kids were busy playing in a corner with Sensei Uncle, the group was busy brainstorming or... panicking.

Malo was the one in charge. He stood in the center, his hands shifting nervously inside his pockets as his chest rose and fell with an uneasy...

He explained to Sasha and Haley what had happened and about the contract they had signed with the royal prince. His voice trembled slightly with every sentence, his fingers twitching against the fabric of his trousers as he laid out the grim reality of their situation.

Both girls were stunned and, at the same time, terrified.

"You signed with your blood?" Haley asked, her breathing catching in her throat as she stared at Malo like he had lost his mind.

"Yes... it was kind of a blood-binding oath knot thing," Malo tried to explain. He swallowed hard, a drop of cold sweat rolling down his temple as he held up his hands in a defensive gesture.

"So it’s a blood oath," Sasha added. Her jaw went rigid, her eyes flashing with a sudden, dangerous heat as she glared at the boy. "How dare you make my sire sign a blood oath? Why didn’t you use only your blood?"

"Because I told them she was my business partner, and Faye was the one who showed up on her own. I was going to involve the two of you, but the lawyer guy said two was enough." Malo stuttered out the defense, his sneakers sliding back an inch on the rubber matting as he felt the temperature in the gym start to skyrocket.

"What if we don’t find all the Beast Morphs? What are they going to do?" Haley asked, her voice dropping into a small, panicked whisper.

"If there’s no time limit, then we can spend the rest of our lives finding the fishes," Sasha said. She let out a long breath through her nose, trying to ground herself. Then her eyes stopped on her sire, who shook her head. Faye’s expression was completely bleak, her lips pressed into a thin, tight line.

"We have a time limit!? How long? Five years? Ten?... No..." She turned to Malo, her face turning incredibly pale.

"MG, how long did you tell them it would take us to find those Beasts?"

"A year," he muttered. The words were barely a squeak, his chin dropping toward his chest.

"I can’t hear you clearly. Speak up," Sasha said, her stance tightening as she took a menacing stride toward him.

"One year. We have to find them within a year." Malo blurted out, his breathing turning completely fast and shallow as he backed up against a metal barbell rack.

Both Sasha and Haley were too stunned to speak.

"I had that same face. He even said he could do it within 6 months," Faye added. She let out a dry, humorless chuckle, her arms crossed as she watched Malo squirm against the iron weights.

"Faye, give me permission to slam him with a dumbbell," Sasha said, ready to find the nearest dumbbell and drop on him..

Malo was frightened and started looking for an escape. His eyes darted wildly toward the gym’s exit doors, his heart hammering against his ribs like a trapped bird.

"Please don’t. If you do, we won’t be able to find those fishes, and we’ll get killed by a Lycan. I do not want to die by the hands of a lycan. So let’s keep him alive... for now," Faye said.

"For now? So are you guys going to kill me after that?" Malo asked, his voice cracking as he looked at the three so called friends.

"There’s no need because we’re all going to die anyway. How are we supposed to find 118 Beast Morphs within a year and not get killed by a Lycan Prince? I heard those people don’t even need to get close to you to rip your heart out, and they can even shapeshift without a full moon. Well, we have no choice. We are now fishermen. Let’s sail the world and look for magical fishes," Haley said. She slumped her shoulders, a long, defeated sigh escaping her lips as she rubbed her temples in pure frustration.

As the girls cursed Malo for his greedy decision, Faye thought of something.

"I’ve been thinking about something. What if we had protection? You know, like a backup plan if we fail," Faye said, giving Malo a murderous look. She stopped right in front of him, her chest rising with a deep, deliberate breath that made her look twice as dangerous.

The poor boy instinctively drifted backward, trying to avoid getting punched after what had happened earlier at school. He remembered the rumor about Silviana being knocked clean out of her chair, and he definitely didn’t want his face to meet the same fate.

"What do you mean by protection? Do you want to create more Betas? Because that’s what we need. We need like a 100 of them to protect us from the royal prince. No one has seen what he’s capable of, but we definitely need protection," Sasha said, her voice rising with a frantic edge as she paced around the circle.

"There’s no need for that. Once we find all the Beast Morphs, there won’t be any reason for him to kill any of us," Malo replied, trying to inject some logic into the conversation, though his own knees were shaking.

"Dude, how are you going to find 118 fishes? Do you want to search the entire internet for tourist videos about mysterious glowing fishes?" Faye asked, her tone dripping with pure sarcasm as she locked her gaze onto his face.

"One hundred and seventeen. The Prince already has one. We also need to find the dealer we sold those Beasts to and retrieve them," he reminded them, shifting his weight uneasily from one foot to the other.

Faye just stared at the boy. With everything that had happened today, the principal, the threat to her kids, the expulsion, she really didn’t want to be pushed over the edge.

"Okay, as I was saying, we might already have a Lycan here in our midst. He could be our protector," Faye said with a hopeful smile. She looked at the other two girls, her expression brightening for the first time all afternoon.

The others fell silent, trying to understand what she meant.

"Just because Peamah is huge doesn’t mean he stands a chance against a Lycan Prince. Hedge Wolves aren’t even capable of leaving a scratch on them." Sasha argued, shaking her head as she dismissed the idea instantly.

"And don’t think your Alpha girlfriend can save us from a lycan..." Haley added.

"I’m not talking about Peamah or Princess. I’m talking about Henry."

"Which Henry?" Sasha asked,

"Henry Maverick. Only Lycans can shapeshift without a full moon, and we’ve all seen him shapeshift without one. He’s even stronger than any of us, even an Alpha. Guys... Henry is a Lycan." Faye stated, her voice full of absolute certainty as she let the massive secret explode into the open room.
