"Dude, are you being for real? I just put my blood on a fucking paper for you, even knowing that giving my blood to a stranger was dangerous... and now you want to sell me?" Faye said, unable to believe what she was hearing. She threw her hands up in the air, her jaw dropping open as she glared at him. Her breathing went sharp, her shoes twisting in the dirt-road as she stepped right into his space, completely offended that he was throwing prices around like they were at some flea market.

How much?

Faye knew that giving her blood to someone was never a good idea.

She had done it before, and it got her kidnapped and held captive for days inside some stupid mansion. And now she had just repeated the same mistake for her best friend, slicing her skin open just to help him get his freedom and wealth, only for him to turn around and start bargaining for her own head.

"No, I am not selling you. I want to buy you," Malo said. He didn’t even look at her, keeping his focus entirely on the man across the road, his shoulders squared as he pulled himself up to his full height.

"Are you stupid, or has being sold by that one-eyed man changed your mindset? Just because you’re loaded now doesn’t mean I’m some product to be sold." Faye hissed, her teeth clicking together as she tried to keep her voice down so the goons wouldn’t see how mad she actually was.

"Dude, just be quiet and trust me, okay?" Malo whispered back, his eyes darting toward her for a quick fraction of a second before locking back onto Butcher.

Faye stopped talking. She tried her best not to lose her temper, her chest heaving as she let out a long, slow breath through her nose to keep from punching him right there. Instead, she stared at the morning sky.

Something suddenly came to mind. There was something she was supposed to do today, but she couldn’t remember what it was because of everything that had happened. She was supposed to be somewhere else...

"I said, how much is the Omega?" Malo repeated. He didn’t flinch, his voice carrying perfectly across the open space between the two groups.

"What are you going to do, buy her? You’re talking like you’ve got money buried somewhere," Butcher mocked. He let out a loud, raspy chuckle, his yellow teeth showing as he leaned heavily on his iron rod, looking at Malo like he was just a kid playing make-believe.

"What if I say I have the money to buy her? Name your price, and I’ll pay it. Then you’ll let us go." Malo’s hand stayed firmly inside his jacket pocket, his expression completely solid as he stared down the man.

Butcher didn’t believe him. His mother had told him before that he earned decent money working for an Alpha, but he always spent it on his siblings’ welfare and rent. He knew how much the boy struggled just to buy a single loaf of bread for the apartment, so the idea of him having thousands of dollars was a joke. Still, Butcher decided to play along, a nasty grin breaking across his scarred face.

"A regular wolf costs 50 grand. A normal Omega costs a 100 grand. But since she’s a special Omega, if you’ve got five hundred thousand, you can buy her," Butcher said. He shrugged his heavy shoulders, tossing the numbers out casually as if he knew the boy could never match them.

Faye simply kept staring at the sky, trying to ignore everything she was hearing. She counted the pale clouds drifting overhead, her jaw tight as she swallowed down the anger. She couldn’t remember when she had become a product people could put a price tag on, and listening to them debate her value made her wolf pace around in circles behind her ribs.

"Alright then. I’ll pay."

"Eh?"

Now Butcher’s ears perked up. The iron rod stopped dragging against the ground, the tip digging into the dirt as he froze in place. Hearing the words I’ll pay made his single eye sparkle. One could practically see dollar signs in it, the cold greed completely wiping the mocking look off his face in an instant.

He swallowed hard and quickly composed himself, trying to act normal. He wiped his mouth with the back of his dirty sleeve, his breathing turning shallow as his mind started counting the cash.

"What about my eye? She needs to pay for it. The doctors said I’ll never use both eyes again. You need to compensate me for that," he said, touching his eye patch with a trembling finger, his voice turning into a pathetic whine as he tried to squeeze out even more.

"1 million. I’ll give you 1 million. Stay away from my siblings and my best friend. Use the change for your eye." Malo said it without even blinking, his tone so flat it sounded like he was buying donuts at the convenience store.

"You’re pulling his leg. Butcher, don’t believe a word he’s saying. How could he possibly have that kind of money?" Bambi said. She stepped up beside her father, her fingers tightening around the handle of her baseball bat as she stared at Malo with deep suspicion.

"Faye, do the transfer," Malo said.

"Why, can’t you use your own money, since you’re the one giving away free cash?" Faye asked. She turned her head toward him, her eyebrows drawing together as she glared at his side profile.

"My mom has my phone. I’ll wire you back later," Malo whispered, his lips barely moving as he leaned his shoulder slightly closer to hers. "Just do it. I want to prove a point."

Faye grumbled and pulled out her phone. The screen lit up against her palm, the bright light showing her reflection through the smudges on the glass.

The first thing that crossed her mind was that Princess still hadn’t called her. Her thumb hovered over the screen for a second, a small pang of worry hitting her chest.

By now, they should have figured out that Malo wasn’t at the club, and the fact that her phone was completely silent meant her girlfriend was probably still furious about the car.

Faye focused on the task at hand. She shook her head to clear her thoughts, tapping the banking app with a rough flick of her thumb.

"Your account details, you one-eyed drunk," she said.

Butcher ignored the insult and immediately started rattling off his account details at lightning speed. He blurted out the routing numbers and the codes without a single pause, his breath coming in short, excited gasps as he stepped closer to them.

"Slow down, Mr. Krabs," both friends said at the same time.

They exchanged looks and shook their heads in disbelief. The sheer desperation coming from the man was pathetic, and the two of them couldn’t help but look at him with pure pity.

Even Butcher’s gang couldn’t believe it. The man who had been acting tough moments ago had completely crumbled at the sight of money. Kraven lowered his gun by an inch, his jaw going slightly slack as he watched his father practically beg the two teenagers for the transfer.

"Done," Faye said after completing the transfer. She tapped the final confirmation button on the screen, the little loading wheel spinning for a second before a green checkmark popped up.

A few moments later, Butcher’s phone chimed.

He froze. His hand reached into his pocket like he was pulling out a fragile piece of glass, his single eye wide as he stared down at the glowing display.

Then he gasped. A choking sound came out of his throat, his knees buckling slightly as he clutched the device tight against his chest.

His eye widened as he stared at the numbers on his screen. This was the largest amount of money he had ever seen in his life. Whenever he sold a child, he always squandered the money instead of saving it, spending every single cent on expensive liquor and cards within a matter of days, so seeing seven figures sitting in his balance made his head spin.

"S-S-Such big amount..." he stammered, his fingers shaking so hard he almost dropped the phone on the ground.

"Mr. Griffin, she is all yours. Take her. Do whatever you want with her." He bowed his head repeatedly, his posture completely broken as he backed away toward his men.

"Did you see Griffin in the sender’s name?" Faye asked, annoyed. She shoved her phone back into her pocket, crossing her arms tightly as she stared at his pathetic form.

"It’s fucking Grande. Just like the amount."
