From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius

Chapter 482 - 479: It’s Okay to Beat Him to Death

  • Next Chapter

The newcomer was none other than Jasper Shaw.

The men behind him were fierce and strong, with sharp gazes. A single glance was enough to tell they were no ordinary people.

Not only that, but the sheer, overwhelming number of them would have intimidated any normal person.

Before she could think any further, Jasper Shaw strode over.

His expression was anxious, and he moved as if his feet had wings. In just a few steps, he was beside Chloe Sinclair, pulling the young woman into his arms.

As the familiar, faint scent of lemon filled her senses, Chloe Sinclair had yet to react when a deep, male voice came from above.

"Chloe, did you get hurt?"

Having known Chloe Sinclair for so long, Jasper Shaw wasn’t worried that Joseph Shaw’s men could actually harm her.

He was just afraid the young woman had been disgusted by Joseph Shaw.

"I’m fine, but I did hit your dad a few times with a stick," Chloe Sinclair said softly into Jasper Shaw’s ear.

"Good. Thank you for teaching this unfilial son a lesson on my grandfather’s behalf."

The man looked down and said coolly, a hint of encouragement in his voice, "If this ever happens again, it wouldn’t matter if you beat him to death."

Joseph Shaw happened to hear this, and his eyes nearly popped from their sockets, filled with rage.

"Chloe Sinclair, Jasper Shaw, believe it or not, I’ll fucking kill you!"

The words had barely left his mouth when Jasper Shaw’s eyes darkened. A glint flickered in his black pupils as he asked coldly, "What did you just say?"

Joseph Shaw was instantly cowed.

He was quite afraid of this son of his.

Even more so, he was afraid Jasper Shaw knew about his plan, so he shut his mouth and said nothing more.

Jasper Shaw didn’t spare him a single glance. Instead, his eyes were fixed on Chloe Sinclair, unable to look away.

By now, the bodyguards had been subdued by the men Jasper Shaw had brought, pinned to the ground and unable to move.

The punishment of the law awaited them.

While it couldn’t be called a kidnapping, the assault was serious enough that spending a few days in custody to "reflect" was a certainty.

Chloe Sinclair looked at one of the bodyguards and said, "Let him go."

That was the bodyguard who had held her backpack for her.

Jasper Shaw said nothing, but the men beside him understood and released the bodyguard.

"Let’s go."

With that, Jasper Shaw reached out, took the pink backpack off Chloe Sinclair’s shoulders, and carried it in one hand.

「Half an hour later」

Jasper Shaw took the men directly to the police station.

A row of white Bentleys parked outside the police station, drawing a crowd of onlookers.

Then, many burly men got out of the cars, each one holding down another person.

"Holy crap, is this a movie shoot?!"

"These guys look so tough. They can’t be undercover cops, can they?"

"I think so too. But they’re escorting so many people. What on earth happened?"

"Whoa, look at them, all bruised and swollen. They must have done something heinous."

"Wait, am I the only one who noticed they got out of Bentleys? And the license plates are all sequential! Are cops this high-class nowadays?"

His words jolted everyone. They looked closely and, sure enough, it was a fleet of Bentleys.

This was wealth on another level.

People were still outside, watching the show, but in less than ten minutes, the men in black emerged from the station in a group, got in their cars, and drove away.

They disappeared from sight.

From beginning to end, Chloe Sinclair and Jasper Shaw never showed their faces.

In the car, Chloe Sinclair glanced at the time. It was already six in the evening.

This whole ordeal had taken up nearly three hours.

’In another two hours, the truth will come out.’

"Oh, right. Do you have a big contract coming up?"

Chloe Sinclair suddenly remembered something and said quickly, "Joseph Shaw asked me to steal your files."

Chloe Sinclair was remarkably direct, not bothering to lower her voice for the driver in the front.

She knew that Jasper Shaw’s operations were not just limited to his publicly known businesses; they likely involved things far beyond her imagination.

Otherwise, in her past life, it would have been impossible for Jasper Shaw to reclaim his assets so quickly under those circumstances.

Jasper Shaw had his reasons for not talking about it, and Chloe Sinclair had never asked.

And for these people to be at Jasper Shaw’s side meant they were all trustworthy.

Sure enough, Jasper Shaw paused for a moment, then nodded and asked, "What else did he say?"

Chloe Sinclair shook her head. "I didn’t agree, so he didn’t say much more. But you should still be careful."

After a pause, Chloe Sinclair recalled the events of her past life.

Back then, Jasper Shaw’s situation had only just begun to turn around, but it was still perilous.

At the time, she had only recently married into the Shaw Family.

In her past life, she had been against the marriage, so logically, she shouldn’t have paid much attention to Jasper Shaw. However, the incident blew up into a huge scandal. News about it was all over the internet, and the police even came to their house to investigate several times. It was hard for her not to know.

It was just that she didn’t know much.

The only thing she knew for certain was that, up until the day she died, Jasper Shaw had never found out who was pulling the strings from behind the scenes.

And though Joseph Shaw had asked her to steal the files in this life, she didn’t believe he was the mastermind.

For one, Joseph Shaw had no access to the Shaw Group’s business operations. For another, he was too stupid and simply didn’t have what it took to orchestrate this kind of corporate warfare.

Therefore, someone must have deliberately leaked this information to Joseph Shaw.

And the person who leaked it was probably inside the company.

Chloe Sinclair shared her thoughts with Jasper Shaw.

After listening, Jasper Shaw nodded.

"I’ll be careful when I get back."

As he spoke, the car had already pulled up outside Chloe Sinclair’s apartment complex.

Of course, such a large number of cars couldn’t all go in, so the Bentleys all parked neatly outside.

Passersby couldn’t help but stare.

Jasper Shaw went upstairs with Chloe Sinclair, put on the pair of slippers he usually wore, and walked into the apartment.

"Jasper, are you hungry?"

Hearing this, Jasper Shaw looked at the young woman standing in the kitchen doorway. He had been about to say he wasn’t hungry, but when he opened his mouth, he nodded. "I am."

After he spoke, he saw the young woman break into a smile, a bit silly and charming.

"Perfect, I’m hungry too. Let’s have a bowl of noodles together."

Chloe Sinclair hadn’t been back long, so she hadn’t had time to stock the fridge. The kitchen cabinets only held some noodles and four eggs.

Chloe Sinclair hadn’t even had time to eat lunch. Many of her professors had been in meetings for the start of the semester yesterday, so she hadn’t been able to visit them. She had used her lunch break today to visit them all and to drop off their New Year’s gifts.

Up to this point, she had only eaten breakfast all day.

Now, her stomach was starting to cramp faintly.

Chloe Sinclair moved quickly. She put some water on to boil and set up another pot on the side.

Seeing this, Jasper Shaw picked up the four eggs and cracked them into a bowl, his movements fluid and smooth.

Chloe Sinclair was a little surprised.

After all, it seemed Jasper Shaw hadn’t known how to cook before.

Seeing the young woman’s surprise, Jasper Shaw’s expression didn’t change. He simply explained, "I learned from the chef at the old residence for a few days."

What he didn’t tell Chloe Sinclair, however, was that just learning to crack eggs had cost him an entire refrigerator’s worth of them.

The old man had been so angry he almost beat him to death with the cane in his hand.

But when he told him it was so he could cook for his wife in the future, the old man just cursed a few times before telling him to study hard.

But of course, he would never tell Chloe Sinclair about that.
