Chapter 384: A Resounding Face-slap

Hearing Emperor Xu Lun's words, the other Emperors of the Thunder Spirit Race calmed down, though they were still seething with envy and jealousy.

If he were an ordinary member of the Human Race, they could have easily taken the Spirit Pool Token without harming him, and it would have been of little consequence.

But with Li Yang's status, if they took action, the repercussions would be immense.

For a moment, the hearts of these Thunder Spirit Race Emperors grew heavy with frustration.

This was especially true for Emperor Xu Lun. He knew that Li Yang had previously obtained the final, missing piece of the Sacred Artifact, the Sword Net Array, from the Star Moon Race's Star Moon Stele. An Emperor from the Star Moon Race had descended, yet they hadn't dared to make a move, and could only let Li Yang name his terms.

He had previously laughed at the Star Moon Race, thinking they had no backbone and only knew how to fawn over the human, Li Yang.

But now, the tables had turned, and the same situation had befallen his Thunder Spirit Race. The human, Li Yang, possessed a treasure they needed, yet they too dared not make a move.

It was a truly humiliating feeling.

An ant at the Star Lord Realm was forcing them, experts of the Emperor Level, to suppress their urge to take action.

As the seven Emperors conversed, the other members of the Thunder Spirit Race watched in shock. Meanwhile, Li Yang's expression shifted as he stared at the Emperors who had suddenly appeared.

'Emperors, and seven of them! They seem to be here for me…' A myriad of thoughts instantly raced through Li Yang's mind.

The first thing that came to mind was the token in his Spatial Ring, which was emitting fluctuations.

'Can these Thunder Spirit Race Emperors sense the token?'

The token inside his Spatial Ring had been fluctuating constantly; perhaps the Thunder Spirit Race was able to sense it.

That would explain why seven Emperors from the Thunder Spirit Race had suddenly appeared before him.

'What exactly is this token?' Li Yang wondered.

The events unfolding before him only further proved that the token was anything but ordinary.

HUMMM...

The oppressive aura in the air slowly dissipated.

Beside Li Yang, Hei Xu took a step forward, shielding Li Yang behind him. His eyes were filled with immense vigilance.

Beyond his vigilance, a trace of panic crept into Hei Xu's heart. 'Why have so many Emperors from the Thunder Spirit Race appeared all at once?'

The same thing had happened with the Star Moon Race, but that was because Li Yang had obtained a treasure from the Star Moon Stele. There had been a reason for the Star Moon Race Emperors to descend then.

But Li Yang had done nothing this time. 'What do these Emperors want?'

For a moment, Hei Xu's expression shifted continuously. He knew that if these Thunder Spirit Race Emperors decided to do something to Li Yang, he actually... wouldn't be able to stop them.

SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH!

More figures suddenly descended from the void. There were over forty of them, and while they were not on the same level as the seven Emperors, the auras they exuded were clearly very powerful.

"It's... our Thunder Spirit Race's elders."

"What in the world is going on? The seven Supreme Elders descended, and now more than forty elders have appeared as well!"

"They all seem to be looking at the human, Li Yang."

The members of the Thunder Spirit Race were completely stunned, their eyes fixed on the scene unfolding. Nearly every gaze was locked on Li Yang.

The entire area fell silent. After about three seconds, the seven Emperors of the Thunder Spirit Race seemed to have reached a decision. Emperor Xu Lun looked at Li Yang and finally spoke, "Human Li Yang, do you happen to have a token in your possession?"

He asked with a kind, amiable smile on his face.

Upon hearing this, the Thunder Spirit Race members present were all stunned.

"The Supreme Elders descended because of a token that the human Li Yang has?"

"What kind of token is it?"

"Supreme Elder Xu Lun is being way too nice to the human Li Yang, isn't he? I've never seen Supreme Elder Xu Lun smile before."

These members of the Thunder Spirit Race had guessed that the descent of the Supreme Elders was because of the human Li Yang, but they hadn't known the reason.

And now it turned out to be because of a single token.

'So they did find out about the token,' Li Yang thought upon hearing Emperor Xu Lun's question. 'And from the looks of it, this token is even more valuable than I imagined.'

'It attracted seven Emperors of the Thunder Spirit Race to descend all at once! That's even more Emperors than descended back at the Star Moon Race!'

'If someone claimed this token wasn't valuable, even I wouldn't believe them.'

Despite his inner thoughts, Li Yang's expression remained calm as he said, "Lord Emperor, I do indeed have a token."

As soon as Li Yang finished speaking, Emperor Xu Lun immediately said, "Would you be willing to give it to our race? You... can name your price."

He was filled with such longing that he wished Li Yang would hand over the Spirit Pool Token immediately.

Hearing this, Li Yang thought for a moment before replying, "Lord Emperor, please give me some time. I will give you an answer then."

'He's stalling for time, just as I thought.' Emperor Xu Lun's heart sank upon hearing Li Yang's words.

He knew Li Yang would definitely try to find out the specifics of the Spirit Pool Key, and then, just as he did with the Star Moon Race, demand a long list of conditions before he'd even consider a trade.

However, there was nothing he could do. Even knowing what Li Yang planned to do, they had no way of stopping him.

So, Emperor Xu Lun could only force a smile and say amiably, "Of course. Yuan Ye, take Li Yang to our clan's shrine to rest. See to it that he is treated with the utmost hospitality."

"Yes, Supreme Elder." Hearing Emperor Xu Lun's command, the still-shocked Yuan Ye snapped back to his senses and replied hurriedly.

He gave Li Yang a deep, meaningful look. He'd never imagined that Li Yang possessed a treasure their people needed—one that had alarmed so many of their clan's Emperors!

Even now, he still had no idea what the token mentioned by the Supreme Elder actually was.

"Young Master Li Yang, please follow me," Yuan Ye said, his smile growing even more enthusiastic.

Hadn't he seen how politely the clan's own Supreme Elders were treating Li Yang? The last thing he wanted was to be disrespectful.

The crowd of Thunder Spirit Race members watched on. Under their collective gaze, Emperor Xu Lun and the six other Supreme Elders departed, followed by the forty-odd elders. Meanwhile, the human Li Yang and Elder Yuan Ye walked off toward the central palace.

"What in the world is that token?"

"For it to make seven Supreme Elders descend, that token must be incredibly valuable!"

After they departed, the remaining members of the Thunder Spirit Race broke into a flurry of discussion.

Elsewhere, Xing Wu of the Star Moon Race burst out laughing. "Haha, Yan Mu! You were all just saying how the Thunder Spirit Race would never stoop to fawning over the human Li Yang, and you spent all that time mocking my Star Moon Race. So, what's this I see?"

Xing Wu was clearly delighted. "The moment the human Li Yang shows up, seven of your Thunder Spirit Race Emperors and over forty elders descend upon him, all so friendly and enthusiastic."

"Hmph! Xing Wu, our seven Supreme Elders only descended because the human Li Yang has something they need!"

"That's right! If he didn't have it, why would the Supreme Elders have shown up at all?"

The young members of the Thunder Spirit Race retorted, but despite their words, they were still incredibly frustrated.

They had just been boasting to Xing Wu that the Thunder Spirit Race would never suck up to or curry favor with Li Yang, and that they would never give the human any sort of special treatment.

And now, less than a minute later, they were eating their words.
