He glanced around. Mute and the others weren’t here; they were probably testing their own strength.

At the center of the crowd was a massive staircase. Only the first step was fully visible; the ones that followed were hazy and indistinct.

"Number Six, how does this God’s Path test work?" Li Yang asked directly.

Now that he was here, he naturally wanted to test his own strength as well.

The small virtual assistant, Number Six, floated in front of Li Yang and said, "Master, you just have to touch the first step to begin the test."

Li Yang nodded and walked up to the massive staircase.

As he approached, the staircase seemed to scan him. Instantly, Li Yang’s figure flickered and vanished.

When he reappeared, Li Yang found himself in a strange space.

There was no one else in this space—only him and another creature.

The creature wasn’t a virtual human, but a Demon Beast. It looked like a wolf, but it had three heads.

The Demon Beast’s scarlet eyes were fixed on Li Yang, filled with a crazed killing intent.

’A Demon Beast?’

Li Yang’s thoughts stirred as he observed the creature.

’The Demon Race in the Cosmos is extremely powerful, perhaps even on par with the Human Race,’ Li Yang mused. ’The God’s Path tests one’s strength. To reach the second step, do I have to kill this Demon Beast?’

The Cosmos was immeasurably vast, and the Human Race occupied only a fraction of its territory.

Beyond the Human Race, those vast territories were occupied by countless other races.

Races like the Sky-Fierce Flood Dragons, the Thunder Star Beasts, the innately divine Fire Nether Divine Beasts, and the Demon Race were among the many powerful races.

The moment he spoke, the Demon Beast charged. Its speed was incredible, and it reached Li Yang’s side in an instant.

’No wonder so many people failed to pass the first step of the God’s Path. To face an opponent of this caliber on the very first step...’

However, the tiger-like Demon Beast let out a mighty roar. It seemed to see through Li Yang’s phantoms instantly, appearing before his true body in a flash and swiping with its sharp claws.

Instantly, Li Yang coughed up a mouthful of blood. His aura plummeted by over ninety percent. His expression changed drastically, and he tried to defend himself, but another attack struck. His aura immediately dissipated like a receding tide.

"Li Yang. Failure on the second step of the God’s Path."

After the mechanical voice spoke, Li Yang’s figure vanished.

When he reappeared, he was outside the God’s Path staircase.

’I failed?’

Li Yang frowned. ’Just two attacks, and I was almost instantly killed.’

’My strength is already so formidable, yet I was killed so easily on the second step of the God’s Path. I had no power to resist whatsoever.’

"Look, it’s Li Yang."

"He passed the first step of the God’s Path, but not the second."
