From Evil Sect Leader to Doctor
Chapter 940 - 906: Not for External Use
Leaving Du Yun Temple, Ye Qingya still felt a bit regretful. She turned back to look at the mountain gate of Du Yun Temple and said apologetically, "We shouldn’t have followed so rashly just now, causing us to accidentally intrude into the forbidden area."
Chunliang replied, "We were just trying to help, and Master Tonghui is a reasonable person. He won’t blame us."
Ye Qingya said, "Master Tonghui is knowledgeable and profound in Buddhism. Before coming here, I never imagined that such a place would have a master hidden within it."
Chunliang said, "He is definitely not an ordinary person. I caught a glimpse just now and saw a pen and a watch."
Ye Qingya said, "Maybe they were burial items for the previous abbot."
Chunliang shook his head and said, "The pen was a Montblanc, and the watch was a Vacheron Constantin."
Ye Qingya looked at him with some curiosity, as Chunliang had managed to gather so much information just by taking a short walk around.
Chunliang said, "You might not have noticed Master Tonghui’s expression. His eyes changed when he saw those items."
Ye Qingya whispered, "Could it be that those things belong to him? But you said he had already lost his memory."
Chunliang said, "I have a strange feeling, like something is about to happen."
On the slippery roads due to the rain, Chunliang took the initiative to hold onto Ye Qingya’s arm to prevent her from slipping.
Although Ye Qingya felt that such physical contact between them was a bit too intimate, she didn’t pull away. Mostly because there was no inner resistance, and in this empty mountain range with no one else around, she didn’t have to worry about others’ eyes, and even felt that being held like this was quite nice.
The heavy rain had caused small streams and waterfalls to appear between the mountains. Ye Qingya walked and stopped, admiring the rare rain scene. Perhaps due to her mood, it felt like she was walking into a fairyland-like world.
Chunliang knew she loved nature, so he didn’t rush her and patiently waited by her side.
By the time they returned to the car, it was already four-thirty. Although they had umbrellas, they were still mostly soaked along the way. Chunliang knew Ye Qingya had brought a change of clothes, so he suggested she change in the car to avoid catching a cold, while he waited outside.
As Ye Qingya changed clothes in the car, she looked at Chunliang outside. Chunliang stood with an umbrella at the front of the car, back to the vehicle. She felt a bit touched. Despite his playful and cheeky words, he was actually a gentleman who knew when to stop, unlike some hypocritical people who say one thing but mean another.
This thought brought Wang Jiancheng’s name to her mind. Ever since her divorce, Wang Jiancheng often contacted her under the guise of concern, frequently dropping by the studio to greet her, which had become quite bothersome. She knew full well Wang Jiancheng’s intentions, but she had no feelings for him and had only seen him as a little brother in the past.
Chunliang stood in the rain facing the mountain breeze, yet images of Ye Qingya changing clothes floated in his mind. He cursed himself under his breath. What was wrong with him lately? Was he letting his hormones take over? Ever since his encounter with Xiahou Mulan, his thoughts inadvertently wandered to such matters. Ye Qingya was like a sworn sister to him and should be respected. Their relationship was pure, and he shouldn’t entertain improper thoughts.
Despite trying to remind himself to be rational, a part of his body wasn’t cooperating.
The car lights flashed behind him, signaling that Ye Qingya had finished changing and was reminding him to get in.
Chunliang didn’t return immediately because he needed to calm down. He had to wait for his body to relax enough before going back to avoid Ye Qingya seeing through his façade and underestimating his moral integrity. At times, even Grandmaster Xu needed to save face.
Ye Qingya, thinking Chunliang hadn’t realized, honked the horn, prompting Chunliang to slowly turn around.
Once inside the car, Ye Qingya handed him a towel to wipe the rain off himself.
Chunliang said it wasn’t necessary and immediately drove down the mountain. Estimating that even if everything went smoothly, they would likely be late. He was usually a punctual person.
In the passenger seat, Ye Qingya reminded him to drive slowly due to low visibility caused by rain and the mountain road. She wouldn’t dare drive in such conditions herself. Even though Chunliang hadn’t been driving as long as she had, he had a natural talent for it and gave Ye Qingya tips on driving mountain roads in the rain.
Ye Qingya had changed into a dark blue casual outfit, with the neckline slightly low. Her fair skin and wet hair gave her a captivating, lazy charm.
Chunliang sneaked a few glances from the corner of his eye, thinking to himself how truly beautiful his sworn sister was. Qiao Rulong couldn’t recognize what he had—such a beautiful wife—and didn’t know how to appreciate her. What charm did Qi Shuang have? Her looks were quite inferior to Ye Qingya. What on earth did Qiao Rulong see in her? Was it because of some extraordinary talent in certain areas?
Chunliang’s mind began to wander once again.
Chunliang managed to navigate out of the mountain road successfully, and Ye Qingya let out a sigh of relief. As she saw him yawn, she quickly opened a can of Red Bull and handed it to Chunliang.
Feeling a bit more relaxed but slightly inattentive, Chunliang accidentally drove the car into a pit, causing a jolt that made Ye Qingya let out a small scream and spill much of the Red Bull onto Chunliang’s lap.
"I’m sorry, I’m sorry..." Ye Qingya didn’t overthink it, placing the Red Bull in the cup holder and quickly grabbing some tissues to help Chunliang wipe it off.
Chunliang said, "Sister Qingya, what did you spill? Why is it sticky?"
Ye Qingya didn’t dare look him in the eye and whispered, "Red Bull!"
Chunliang said, "Did it have added hormones? Why does it feel like something is not right?"
Ye Qingya almost laughed. It was Red Bull, not some aphrodisiac. Any reaction you have is unrelated to the Red Bull.
Ye Qingya said, "It’s nothing, just an ordinary drink. I was worried you’d get tired driving, so I opened a can of Red Bull for you to drink."
Chunliang said, "Are you sure it’s Red Bull?"
Ye Qingya thought of a good idea and turned on the music to play the Heart Sutra, giving him a subtle hint about the emptiness of desires.
Red Bull is just a vitamin functional drink, containing a small amount of stimulants but doesn’t have any aphrodisiac effect. Red Bull’s ingredients have three categories, clearly stated on the can. First is the B vitamin group, second is essential amino acids for the human body, and third is caffeine. Each can contains 50 milligrams of caffeine. It is a functional drink with refreshing and anti-fatigue effects, classified as a sports drink.
Ye Qingya thought to herself, he didn’t even drink any, just accidentally spilled some. It’s definitely not related to Red Bull. So what’s the reason? Ye Qingya turned her face to look out the car window. If it’s not Red Bull, then it must be her. Did he have a reaction to her? It shouldn’t be.
Ye Qingya felt her breathing becoming a bit quicker and tugged a little at her seatbelt, feeling a bit unsafe.
Chunliang said, "Don’t drink these functional drinks in the future; they’re not good for your health."
Ye Qingya mumbled in agreement, thinking, you’re just looking for excuses. What did the Red Bull do to bother you? I know it’s because of you that this happened. I just thought of you as a gentleman, but who knew, who knew you’d actually have thoughts about me? It’s a bit embarrassing, but instead of being angry, she felt a bit happy, realizing she still had some charm.
Ye Qingya composed herself, found a bottle of ice-cold water, and opened it, placing it in the cup holder. She pondered—since he was feeling hot, maybe this cold water could help him cool down.
Chunliang focused on driving, reminding himself softly to take it easy. The more forceful he was, the more awkward it would get, letting all his intentions show. Today’s behavior was a bit too much, and he didn’t want to frighten his sworn sister.
Yet he underestimated women’s courage. Noticing no signs of change from this guy, Ye Qingya kindly reminded him, "Take a sip of ice water, calm down." After saying that, she felt a bit embarrassed herself.
Chunliang picked up the bottle of cold water to drink a few sips, finding no effect. If he applied it directly as a cold compress, it might have some effect, but alas, given the situation, it was best to blame everything on the Red Bull. "I never knew Red Bull could be used externally. If this gets out, Red Bull’s sure to sell out."
Ye Qingya couldn’t help but laugh at Chunliang’s formally nonsensical chatter. "Focus on driving properly, and don’t let your thoughts wander."
Chunliang caught the undertone in her words: "Sister Qingya, let me ask you a favor."
Ye Qingya said, "Go ahead."
"I care about my reputation. Please don’t tell anyone about this; let’s just keep it a secret between us."
