Chapter 763 - 365: Father and Son Reunited? (Part 2)

"Hey—big bro—hey! I...you hung up on me again!" Huaifeng looked at the communicator as if he’d seen a ghost, a tangled expression on his face. His big brother was increasingly becoming something else, it was bad enough with his awkward and cold personality, but now he’s even learned to be tsundere! Who upgraded his program?

The frustration of being stood up made Huaifeng instinctively want to shout some of the curses favored by the men in the Military Department, but the words stuck in his throat. Even though his big brother couldn’t hear him now, if he ever did, the consequences would undoubtedly be miserable.

He couldn’t help but recall the time his big brother heard him accidentally curse, and how Huaixi had stared at him with a chilling gaze for a long time.

During their evening training that night, when the two brothers sparred, Huaixi used his skill in strategy to brutally teach his little brother a lesson, speaking coldly words that would haunt Huaifeng’s nightmares: "If there’s nothing wrong with your brain, your sword’s name is Jun Feng, right? Do you remember what Mother said when she handed it to you?"

Huaifeng, after being abruptly dealt with by his brother, was completely taken aback. The two of them were almost evenly matched in strength, but sometimes strategic thinking could break the balance. Huaixi’s rationality kept him constantly calm and proved very difficult to deal with.

Huaifeng realized that if he answered with "I don’t remember," his big brother would likely give him a full skeletal realignment operation. He also understood the main reason for his brother’s question and couldn’t help but tear up.

All he did was say something a tad uncouth—was it necessary for his big brother to hold onto such a tiny mistake? We’re brothers, full-blooded brothers from the same womb; can’t we occasionally broaden the criteria a bit?

Over the years, Huaixi’s growth had been astonishingly significant, and even Huaifeng had to admit that, although they were twins, Huaixi’s mental age was obviously much more mature. He was more than a brother, he was like half a father... brotherly yet paternal.

How could Huaifeng forget the words their mother spoke when she gave him the sword? Those hopes were her greatest expectations for her son. "Jun Feng," meaning the "wind of a gentleman," was her wish for her Little Bear to be a bit more steady and cautious, to wield the sword like a gentleman, not betraying his true self, and to fight for his heart’s belief.

This was what their mother intended, but clearly, his brother used the "wind of a gentleman" standard to strictly demand his little brother to be one, covering everything from behavior to mentality. With such a meticulous and earnest brother, Huaifeng didn’t know whether to laugh or cry...

Clearing his mind of all distractions, Huaifeng approached the target rapidly, completely unaware that his otherwise mature beyond his years brother was now entangled in an extremely complex emotion, his telekinesis surging like boiling water.

The earlier communication disruption was actually due to Gu Huaixi’s chaotic Mind Force Field, plus another stronger, more mature telekinesis interference, making it perfectly normal for the signal to be cut off.

"That sergeant’s emotions seem a bit off..."

One of the warriors handling the aftermath noticed Huaixi silently sitting on the base ruins, a hint of worry crossing his face.

Though Gu Huaixi was only temporarily drafted in as an external aid for this task, it was undeniable that he was the person actually in charge of the operation because the original leader on the Insect Race battlefield was Huaixi’s direct subordinate.

Don’t be fooled by his current rank of sergeant; no one doubted where he would soar to in the future.

Moreover, on the Insect Race battlefield, the distinction between high and low ranks was less clear, and Gu Huaixi naturally held a special position within the Xilena Military System.

"Anyway, the outcome of this mission was better than we initially expected; we can report back with something," a companion replied.

Huaixi was in a very complex state of mind, his gaze trailing a tall figure, his eyes slightly dim.

The teenager had now grown to a height of 1.7 meters, a very tall stature for someone his age. His delicate features had lost the baby fat of youth, revealing that special teenage vitality, and his features were gradually maturing, leaving little trace of his childhood behind.

Compared to Gu Huaixi’s growth like baking bread, transforming rapidly, Gu Ningxuan hadn’t changed much. He simply shed his remaining innocence and gained an uncontainable decisiveness and resolve on the Insect Race battlefield, his features becoming even more profound.

Therefore, Gu Huaixi immediately recognized Gu Ningxuan, and because of his face, momentarily lost focus, granting Su Qinwu and her accomplices a chance to break through and escape. As he faced this mission’s failure, Huaixi realized just how much trouble his brief lapse would bring.

However, obviously, Gu Ningxuan did not immediately recognize him, which was the root of Huaixi’s distressed dilemma.

On one hand, Huaixi had grown too swiftly, with Ningxuan’s image of him frozen at the age of five with his innocent, pale "little bun" face. On the other... maybe if Huaixi would remove the combat assistance equipment covering most of his face, the slightly shortsighted Gu Ningxuan might recognize him.

Gu Ningxuan, after returning, didn’t encounter Su Qinwu, but did see the chaotic battlefield within the base. One side was Alliance warriors, and the other was the base’s combat personnel. Naturally, there was no question who he would help.

With Gu Ningxuan joining, the ambush mission proceeded exceptionally smoothly, with the base’s forces rapidly retreating. Yet, because of a less than ideal angle, Huaifeng, who was single-handedly up against Su Qinwu, became momentarily dazed, allowing her to escape!

Gu Ningxuan’s original target was precisely Su Qinwu, and he swiftly pursued her. However, Su Qinwu’s defense was no joke, and with a few Alliance warriors dragging him back, Gu Ningxuan could only watch as his target task left in pain after severing her arm!

Regarding Su Qinwu’s escape, Gu Ningxuan remarked pensively from his spot, vowing that he would never let that woman escape again.

Just as he was about to leave, Gu Ningxuan suddenly remembered something and crouched down to remove the A.I. from Su Qinwu’s severed arm.
