Chapter 646 - 2: Gu Ningxuan’s Otherworldly Travels (Part 2)
Gu Ningxuan couldn’t help but smile bitterly. He didn’t know whether he’d suffocate, starve to death, or die without leaving a whole corpse...
No matter how he died, it was something he had never imagined before. It’s too humiliating! And... too regrettable.
Gu Ningxuan knew the future was a dead end, so he began to prepare his affairs. These black holes would swallow everything swallowable but would spit them out at a certain time. He thought... maybe he could write a will, and perhaps, by some sliver of hope, this will could reach the person he wanted it to reach?
There was so much he wanted to write, yet not enough time to do it. He had many things to say to Su Jiameng, like honestly confessing his past mistakes, seeking forgiveness, telling her how he had secretly been in love with her for so long, and how he always hoped to blend into her family...
And his two little buns, he felt too irresponsible as a father. He didn’t know if they could forgive him, and he wanted to apologize to Xiao Xi, as he had promised to return to be his dad and pursue his mom...
Of course, he shouldn’t forget his parents. Their third son was too useless; maybe they should try having a fourth son. While they’re still young, they could discipline and educate him well. Perhaps they could break the "all sons become rebellious idiots at a certain age" curse. Maybe the new brother would be very filial to them...
Besides the people mentioned above, his friends also needed to be considered. He wanted them to stop waiting for him. Though they had said they’d venture into the Military Department together, now it seemed he’d be absent forever. But as long as they remembered him, he’d still live in their hearts...
Gu Ningxuan had mentioned everyone he could think of; he didn’t know how much time had passed. He only felt the air around him thinning slightly, while the background music was the cries and curses of the passengers outside. Compared to others facing death, Gu Ningxuan realized he seemed too calm. He should be venting frustrations, doing something to reduce his regrets...
After writing the letters, Gu Ningxuan saved them and stored them in his intelligent brain database.
If the brain survived, then the will could be sent out. He got up intending to go outside or to the cafeteria to get an unappetizing nutrition meal... although he already assumed the cafeteria might have been ransacked.
What would one do when facing known, impending death directly in front of them?
Gu Ningxuan felt very calm but didn’t know that others might not be so composed. As he walked, he saw someone hitting another because of pressure, even their own child, to vent... For such parents, he decisively dislocated their arms; others had their dark desires burst out, trying to strip young women, yelling how they would die soon and might as well have one last pleasure before then... All were dying, yet still consumed by lust. If he didn’t die, who should?
Gu Ningxuan knocked the person out, letting the girl up, and gently consoled her, "It’s dangerous here, better return to your own room and wait."
What nearly overcame Gu Ningxuan was the subsequent reaction of the nearly victimized girl. After recovering from her fright, she actually said the earlier man’s words made some sense, then hinted that Gu Ningxuan could come to her room... Shocked, he retreated back to his room.
The feeling of waiting for death was not a good one, especially as the oxygen became more scarce and breathing more difficult... Before he fainted, Gu Ningxuan’s only thought was—oh, so he was suffocated to death after all...
He thought his turn in death would be quite ahead but didn’t expect he might actually be the last on the warship to be "suffocated to death." Because while he was hallucinating from lack of air, outside the room, bodies were strewn everywhere, devoid of any sign of life...
"Prepare the breathing equipment—this person’s brain is still alive..." In his haze, he felt his body getting heavier and heavier, as if sinking into an abyss he could never climb out of, until suddenly, light flashed before his eyes.
He tried hard to open his eyes, to see what the light was. After much effort, he found his sinking body starting to float up, getting closer to the light, until finally, he could see the scene within the light... a wave of despair flooded his heart...
The scene showed two mangled people, a young boy, whose features seemed nice but whose pant legs were half empty, left arm missing, face mostly covered by blood and other colored slime, wearing an expression of something like crying yet not crying, sorrowfully saying, "Mom... Dad and brother left peacefully, I will take care of you from now on..."
What! Gu Ningxuan heard it faintly, unclearly. What did "Dad and brother left" mean? Who was that young boy?
As he was pondering this, the next second, countless bizarre and disgusting creatures appeared in the open ruins, various forms engulfing them, also taking away that boy who tried to shield the woman and his final sounds.
"Ah—no—don’t——!" The woman’s voice was piercing and shrill.
Wait—that woman—why did she seem so familiar? Gu Ningxuan struggled to open his eyes wide, channeling all his strength into his eyes. Finally, he felt as if breaking through some constraint, sitting bolt upright, covered in sweat...
"Had a nightmare?" Gu Ningxuan was panting heavily, and before he could recover from the earlier nightmare, a mellow male voice sounded near his ear, cold yet somewhat inexplicably... familiar? The kind of familiarity drilled into his bones...
After a hard time catching his breath, he turned to see where the voice had come from, only to find the man who spoke had already turned away. With a cold snort, he then questioned another person who looked shocked to see a ghost, "Illegitimate child? Twins? Care to explain?"
Gu Ningxuan felt... as if he too had seen a ghost...(To be continued. If you like this work, please visit qidian.com to vote for recommendations and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please read on m.qidian.com.)
