From BOSS to Canon Fodder: She is Currently Out of Service!
Chapter 615 - 301: Gifting a Planet as a Present
"W-What’s going on here!" Gu Ningxuan suddenly panicked, repeatedly trying to grab her wrist again, but no matter how hard he tried, the result was the same as before, his hand eerily passing through her wrist as if she was just a phantom projection.
Su Jiameng sighed helplessly and stopped his futile efforts, "It’s no use. I can touch you, but you can’t touch me. As for the reason... forget it, even if I told you, you wouldn’t understand. Just remember what I tell you today—help take care of Xiao Xi and Xiao Feng, and stay safe yourself... Someday, I will find a way to come back."
"Where are you going! Other than by my side, where do you want to go!" Gu Ningxuan felt a nameless fire burst forth in his chest, driving him to say such intense words. Normally, he probably couldn’t utter half a word even if it killed him.
Su Jiameng looked up at Gu Ningxuan with slight suspicion, as if surprised by his words. However, this doubt didn’t last long. Her form started to fade, her face becoming more blurred as she spoke with a touch of urgency, "I’m sorry, but I swear I will come back."
In the end, Gu Ningxuan found his body seemed no longer his own, his whole body stiff as if half-petrified. He could only watch as Su Jiameng’s form grew more transparent and hear her final words, "Turn around and walk away, don’t look back..."
The only light in this dark world vanished, leaving Gu Ningxuan standing dumbfounded, as though a part of his chest had gone missing, emptiness echoing inside. As the world fell silent again, he regained his ability to move, lowering his head slightly, his half-closed eyes concealing all emotions. Before long, he seemed to make a decision, tightening his fist, turning around, and walking away, never looking back.
This world was very dark, a silence blanketing everything; he couldn’t even hear his own footsteps, unsure if he was moving forward or just standing in place. He didn’t know how long he walked until a faint light appeared ahead, carrying the warm, crisp scent of sunlight. He quickened his pace, reaching out to grasp that point of light...
Dazedly opening his eyes, Gu Ningxuan parted his lips, his vision shifting from blurry to clear. Then he realized he was lying in the small cave he had chosen earlier, blankly raising his hand upwards, gripping—"Was it a dream?"
Gu Ningxuan propped himself up with his hand, using great effort to barely sit up halfway, lifting his hand to check his intelligent device. It had been nearly half a month since his fusion... It’s really a surprise that someone in a coma for half a month without any external help could still survive...
Shaking his head in confusion, Gu Ningxuan found his mind filled with actions not done by him... Oh, that’s not quite right, because those actions were taken by his former second personality. Closing his eyes to sort through things, he reopened them, his expression complex.
"Who would’ve thought... so this is the truth... How can I face her again..." Gu Ningxuan buried his face in his hands, his mental state not looking great. After a while, he finally stood up shakily.
No matter how it happened back then, now that he knew the truth, he couldn’t continue to escape from his responsibility... Even if the other party didn’t need him to be responsible. But anyway, the two children were his blood, and Su Jiameng indeed suffered because of him. He should do something to compensate... Had he known earlier, he wouldn’t have left Qiming Star back then!
Weakly wanting to leave, surprisingly finding this deserted area to be quite vast, with his poor physical condition, he tire out after only a few steps, having to stop and eat some dry, bland nutrient food to replenish his strength.
Once slightly calm, Gu Ningxuan finally had the leisure to ponder and explore the changes in himself.
Admittedly, the fusion process was extremely painful, even for someone like Gu Ningxuan, it was torture he wouldn’t endure a second time, yet the pain he suffered yielded results, with the fusion very successful and his powers undergoing a huge transformation.
Even though his body, inside and out, now exuded intense exhaustion and the urge to sleep for days, he couldn’t overlook the internal transformation and the increase in his powers. However, the current situation was special, and he didn’t yet know how much his strength had improved. The Clay Ore used for guidance had long been absorbed, reduced to a small pile of ordinary ash.
