Fox Has No Malicious Intent
Chapter 1160 - 1157: I'm Upright, Not Afraid of Shadows!
"Hmm..."
"That python cursed quite obscenely. I wondered why it kept attacking my philtrum; turns out it hated the strong floral fragrance I had on..."
Floating mid-air, Ansheng looked at the happenings in the dense forest with a face full of mixed emotions.
Little Ansheng was practically being chased up and down by a large group of anthropomorphic wild animals, looking utterly terrified.
The wild animals were filled with rage, chasing after Little Ansheng and calling him a fiend, claiming they had never seen such an arrogant biped, and were determined to finish him off today.
Later on, although Little Ansheng became a tea farmer and set up a tea plantation and teahouse, that was something that came afterwards.
If not for the experience in the [Quality Control Department], Ansheng was actually extremely afraid of insects.
Back home, upon seeing large cockroaches or other household pests like white-legged spiders, he would usually stick close to walls to give way to the little critters.
Not that he was afraid, he just felt that they could pair him up...
During the Yunnan Province trip, Ansheng mustered his courage and completed his insect encyclopedia search overnight, soaked himself with a bottle of floral water, and lit three mosquito coils before daring to venture into the mountains.
But because of the intense, stimulating scent emitted by the floral water and mosquito coils, the wild animals in the deep forest mistook him as an arrogant biped coming to steal their territory.
The Yunnan Province journey desensitized Ansheng to insects.
The Dream Space still spun around as Little Ansheng found one of his targets on this trip, the Pu'er Tree.
Colleagues busily recorded and harvested branches while Ansheng was busy strangling the python, squeezing its neck until its eyes rolled white.
"If only I had arms and legs..." The reenactment of past events in the Dream Space slowly came to a close amidst the reluctant hissing and sobbing of the python.
Utilizing his build advantage, Little Ansheng clamped his legs tightly around the python's lower body to prevent it from coiling him, using his arms to strangulate its thick neck. Ansheng looked smug, giving the lustful python a heavy blow.
As the Dream Space stopped operating, the past experiences of Little Ansheng venturing into the mountains for tea were extracted and bound into pages, flying out of the Dream Space as books.
"Looks like I should find some time to review all previous memories..."
Floating above, Ansheng slowly drifted away from the Dream Space as the [Memory Anchoring] extraction was completed.
Ansheng had legitimate grounds to suspect that the python he encountered in a past life had become sentient, though he had no evidence.
After all, that was just a chance encounter; in a past life, Ansheng had thoroughly dealt with that python and then released it.
Later on, the man and snake shared no further interaction or drama.
"Ugh—"
In the Consciousness Space, the pale blue Six-tailed Fox Statue opened its mouth, making a soft whimpering sound, taking in the two books floating before it into the library.
Following the completion of Memory Anchor Point containment, the Six-tailed Fox Statue suddenly rose, with its six tails blossoming into two additional large tails, forming a total of eight.
A loud whimper echoed across the skies, the immense Power of Thought swept over like waves, changing the colors of the heavens and earth, causing the scenery in the Consciousness Space to quickly retreat, leaving a trail of flowing radiance.
No... it wasn't the scenery retreating, but rather the space of consciousness expanding.
"Ugh—"
Returning from the Dream Space, Ansheng's consciousness had entered the Eight-tailed Fox Statue.
The towering Eight-tailed Fox Statue stood in the slightly void Consciousness Space, before it remained the Dream Space that refined memory anchor points.
Like dreamy bubbles of memory, fading as Master Fuli departed.
[Physique: 240]
[Wisdom: 198→246]
[Wish Power: 0]
"The Wisdom Attribute isn't sociable at all, clearly Physique only needs 240 points to reach Nine-tails." Ansheng said, pouting as the data page of the Wish List appeared in front of him.
Of course.
Ansheng himself could understand why the Wisdom Attribute needed 270 points to be maxed out.
Wisdom is constructed from nothing to something.
Whereas Physique grows from existing strength, if Physique needed 270 points to max out, then... Ansheng felt like his starting point might have been some kind of plankton.
"The Memory Anchor Point for Eight-tails is the Yunnan Province trip, then for Nine-tails it must be... my last moments?"
Ansheng stared fox-like at the Wish List, beginning to reminisce about his past life.
When he passed away in his past life, it wasn't particularly strange—just washed his feet, went home, lay down to sleep, then woke up as a fox.
Aside from dying in his sleep, Ansheng felt there wasn't anything significant in his life worth being extracted as a memory anchor point.
After the Yunnan Province trip ended, Ansheng studied for two years in the Quality Control Department before starting his own business, spending his days sipping tea and bragging at the teahouse, occasionally heading out for foot massages.
The most he did was dabble in tea industry research with the old man, sprinkling high-tech techniques onto tea leaves.
Developing dozens of odd teas a year, some drinkable, others making one feel beaten after consuming.
"Couldn't have been poisoned by my own tea, right?" Ansheng muttered skeptically, arms crossed in self-reflection.
"That shouldn't be! I remember before dying, I was busy renovating the new house and had no time for tea-making..."
"Then... it must be subconscious regret, regret for not smashing the phone before dying."
"But that doesn't add up! My browser history was filled with curvaceous ladies, everyone who saw it would praise me for having taste."
"Whatever..."
Ansheng shrugged, ceased to dwell on it. Anyway, achieving Nine-tailed Fox Memory Anchoring was just a step away from a dual degree.
Clean out the Immortal's lair and reverse the meter, blowing up the cousin.
With Ansheng's consciousness departing, the Eight-tailed Fox Statue resumed its dignified crouch, the vast Consciousness Space gradually sprouting strange vegetation.
...
Inside Fox Immortal Palace.
"Ugh—"
Master Fuli, with a snow-white belly exposed, yawned as its mouth opened wide, keeping eyes shut, stretching its waist for a lazy stretch.
"Lin..."
With an entirely cozy expression, Master Fuli opened its eyes, intending to ask Lin Ying if any changes had occurred to its physical body while it slept.
The scene before him immediately jammed the rest of Master Fuli's words in its throat.
"My eyes..."
Master Fuli appeared shocked, with an incredulous expression as it glanced around—a sight of Fox Immortal Palace's objects split into rings.
Things similar to Mobius strips, but their overall structure was far more complex, appearing like three-dimensional X-ray images.
Air currents, insect and bird sounds transformed into light beams, meandering through the sky.
In an instant.
Master Fuli felt as if back at university, seated in a lecture hall learning abstract algebra or analytical geometry and higher algebra.
In mere moments, pale smoke began to rise from Master Fuli's head, brain diminished.
"Master Fuli! Mushrooms have sprouted!" While Master Fuli was encircled by mathematical formulas, hugging abstract rings.
Lin Ying's youthful voice crisply reached Master Fuli's ears.
The form of the white-tailed Nine-tailed Fox Lady appeared before Master Fuli, scattering the bizarre patterns.
"Damn—"
