Chapter 2889 - 1370: Changing the Approach

The two fell into a silence longer than ever before.

Finally, when Yi Dong lit his third cigarette—

"Let’s stop the discussion about Diana A. Achizolti here."

Motan turned around and sat down on the beach chair next to Yi Dong, crossing his legs and retrieving a juice with a little umbrella from the storage room out of thin air. He said in an unpredictable tone, "I know everything you want to say, and I never considered myself a good person, so... rather than let you waste a lot of my precious time discussing her, we might as well wait until I have a relapse, and we’ll figure out how to sort out my relationship with Yu Chen. Honestly, things on that end are less optimistic."

Yi Dong let out a cold laugh and agreed, "That’s true. After all, the most Diana could do is blow you to bits in this game, but as for Yu Chen... although she’s a treasure girl like a little angel, the better a girl she is, the harsher she’ll be when she turns dark, and she’s studying medicine, you understand what I mean, right?"

"Though you probably mean a surgeon, which doesn’t match Yu Chen’s specialty, I still get it."

Motan smiled and took a sip of the chilled juice in his hand, "It’s just a pity that talking about this with me now is useless. Both of us know that although this is indeed ’Motan’s little love trouble,’ ultimately, whether it’s you, my confidant, or me, the person involved, we’re both definitely outsiders."

Yi Dong suddenly chuckled and shook his head, "I really should consult Xiao Yu’s grandpa, who supposedly is spot on with predictions, and ask if you’re destined for romantic mishaps this year. Just the scraps of information I know would be enough to write two series of romance novels."

"Excellent people can’t avoid attracting bees and butterflies. If you’re jealous of me, you can just say so."

Motan exhaled lightly, made a playful face at his friend who was somewhat pacified, "Regarding how to improve the quality of a large dog like yourself, I have some insights. In at most two therapy sessions, I can train... I mean, develop you to the point where you’re pretty likely to find someone who truly loves you."

Yi Dong narrowed his eyes and asked with a twitching mouth, "You nearly said ’train’ earlier, didn’t you? You meant to say train, right? Being single doesn’t mean being a dog, okay! Do you want me to call Xiao Yu, that ultra-large dog, to give you a beating?"

"So let’s put aside those tedious matters of love and talk about something more constructive."

Motan stretched lazily and laughed lightly, "For example, while you’re indignant over a charming 2D character and preparing to show your good buddy a thing or two, I’ve reached a certain level of understanding with Double Leaf. We’ve decided to add some love and reduce the killing, slightly lowering the priority of fighting to the death, no longer restricting our fun to outsmarting each other."

Yi Dong nodded knowingly and succinctly said, "In plain language."

"Once a person stops thinking, there’s nothing left."

After tossing out a seemingly philosophical taunt, Motan stopped teasing and continued in a very leisurely tone, "Simply put, I’ve signed a truce agreement with Double Leaf that benefits both sides. Strictly speaking, it can’t really be called a truce, but it’s a verbal agreement that significantly increases our survival chances. I’m too lazy to go into details. You could think of it as our collaboration model over the years."

Yi Dong understood clearly this time, directly and sharply summarizing, "So basically, instead of harming each other, you two plan to expend more energy jointly in messing with others?"

"Uh-huh, that’s exactly it."

Motan nodded contentedly and said happily, "The arms race hasn’t stopped, but we’ve decided to give each other a bit more composure and freedom. After all, whether it’s her or me, we’ve spent the last six months focused on killing each other, rarely stopping to enjoy the scenery along the road, and there’s so much fun in this game... it’s just too much!"

"Alright then."

Yi Dong simply nodded, accepting Motan’s words as they were.

The reason was simple: as Motan mentioned earlier, as his best friend, Yi Dong would always stand by his side unconditionally, no matter what happened. As for the reasoning, that was actually something dispensable.

But we can still analyze this matter from a God’s Eye View—

Firstly, it’s clear that today’s ruckus at the library doors was obviously an important milestone in the game between Motan and Double Leaf, also the outcome of their six months of hard work.

The deadly trap set by Motan was incredibly sharp, while the strength possessed by Double Leaf reached the pinnacle. At least within the player domain, both of them had practically reached their limits.

And after this mutual ’testing the waters,’ it was evident that both would enter a fairly long period of dormancy. Theoretically, Double Leaf, having fully exposed her strength in front of the opponent, had to rebuild her chips, while Motan, having exhausted all his hands, urgently needed to set up another deathtrap equal to today’s in quality and level.

This wouldn’t be difficult for either of them, but the cycle certainly wouldn’t be short.
