Four Split Personalities
Chapter 2824 - 1338: Job Hunting
"I know this sounds a bit strange, but please rest assured, both of you."
Motan raised his right hand, picking his nose with his pinky, while smiling brightly, "Although it’s just theoretical, even if I give those two people the title of ’The Crownless King’, which sounds incredibly fashionable, it doesn’t mean they will easily interfere with the affairs of ’Clown Card’."
Foster adjusted his glasses, softly saying, "I roughly understand the situation. In any case, unless they directly approach us, it’s okay to act as if they don’t exist, right?"
"Exactly. Your ability to summarize and comprehend is truly excellent, Foster."
Motan grinned broadly, clapping his hands lightly, "So, let’s wrap up the talk about the Black Vatican Priest. He’s just someone lost in daydreams and self-conflict, not worthy of our serious concern."
Foster responded with an ambiguous smile, leisurely asking, "In your eyes, is that Black Vatican Priest, who managed to directly defeat our ’Witch’ single-handedly and was listed as a priority investigation target by major forces within less than two hours, merely a waste?"
"Talent, ability, and genius... these factors have no direct correlation with whether a person can truly flourish."
Motan lounged back on the sofa lazily, waving his hand as he replied, "In my view, the Black Vatican Priest has never been someone who could achieve greatness, of course, even if he isn’t, he might still be pushed to the forefront by circumstances, situations, or whatever messy reasons. But in my eyes, his essence is just an ordinary waste, boring enough to make people want to kick him."
Upon hearing this, Lian couldn’t help but ask with a bit of puzzlement, "You just said you were the closest of friends."
"These two aren’t contradictory, Lady Red Queen."
Motan smacked his lips and shrugged, "I hope you understand, I’m not denigrating him as a person. Quite the opposite, the reason I can say such things is precisely because I acknowledge and understand his actions and choices... Haha, let’s switch topics. If I remember correctly, there’s less than a week until the real highlight of this exchange conference, which is the ’summit’ involving only the core members of the exchange group and the Academy City Elder Council?"
Lian nodded slightly, succinctly replying, "To be exact, it should be five days. The meeting will be at the top level of the ’High Tower’ in the inner ring area. The guest list has been compiled, do you want to see it?"
"No need, I’m not very interested in such matters."
Motan yawned lazily, then turned to Foster, "So, the main topic of that ’summit’ should already be determined to be discussions about us ’Otherworlders’, right?"
Foster nodded, calmly answering, "According to the information I have, that seems correct. However, over half a year has passed since the Otherworlders appeared in this sub-dimension you call ’The Realm of Innocence’. The massive number of Otherworlders have already integrated with us locals, so personally, I find it highly unlikely that extreme proposals like ’expelling or clearing Otherworlders’ would surface at the conference table."
"I’ve never worried about that since those occupying a seat at that meeting are usually not fools. After everybody exchanges intelligence on Otherworlders, they’ll realize we can’t be resolved through slaughter. In fact, there’s no necessity to resolve us at all."
Motan smirked, making a comical expression, "In the world I live in, there’s a saying, ’Of a different race, surely with a different heart’. However, this theory is unworkable in your world because this world has almost completely erased racial barriers countless years ago."
Foster tapped his glasses frame, shaking his head, "Actually, I completely fail to understand how race becomes a reason for wise beings to attack one another. As an excuse for conflict, it’s even less practical than money."
"This shows the difference in worldview, my dear friend."
Motan chuckled, grinning broadly, "It’s not surprising you can’t understand this matter. As far as I know, since the Holy Calendar Year 1, your societal form has been relatively advanced. Intermarriage between humans, orcs, dwarves, elves, half-beast people, and half-dragon people is commonplace. Even among lizardmen, dwarves, and goblins, there are quite a few instances of combining with outsiders. Such things are hard to imagine for us, Otherworlders."
Foster furrowed his brow, "Because of aesthetics?"
"You’re a person of depth; don’t interpret things so superficially."
Motan lightly shook his forefinger twice, already losing interest in continuing to explain. He simply said casually, "In short, discussing such philosophical issues too much becomes pointless. Let’s talk about something more realistic. After first ruling out hostility, I believe the direction the meeting will take should be very clear."
Foster promptly chimed in smoothly, "Of course, nothing more than cooperation, learning, and even utilization. I must say, your existence has far surpassed common sense, and turning these ’non-routine’ things into ’routine’ is probably the urgent task in their eyes."
