Four Split Personalities
Chapter 2814 - 1333: The Feeling of Liking Is Liking
A somewhat awkward silence once again enveloped the two of them. However, if you take a closer look at their expressions, you will find that it seems to be only Motan who feels awkward, while the girl opposite him, who normally finds it hard to even have a regular conversation with strangers, and whose personality is as delicate as a small animal in most cases, is smiling more calmly.
Ultimately, it was Theresa, who didn’t seem to feel awkward at all and indeed wasn’t actually that awkward, who broke the silence.
"Just a moment ago, Mr. Hei Fan..."
The girl showed a cheerful smile, tiptoeing joyfully as she spoke softly, "I discovered something that might make you very happy—want to hear it?"
Motan hesitated for a moment, then finally nodded and said, "As long as it won’t take too long."
Having already resolved to accept his bad luck, he also decided to maintain a distance from this very charming girl from now on.
"It won’t take long, I just wanted to tell Mr. Hei Fan my new discovery."
Theresa did not comment on Motan’s relatively distant attitude and simply continued on her own, "That is... after we had a good chat, I realized maybe I don’t actually like Mr. Hei Fan, but rather... like the feeling of liking Mr. Hei Fan."
Motan blinked, as he hadn’t grasped the meaning and thus made no constructive response, only uttering a dumbfounded "Uh."
"Hmm, that’s probably it."
Theresa clapped her small hands confidently, smiling as she said, "I find it hard to imagine what life would be like after getting together with Mr. Hei Fan, and it doesn’t seem very exciting, yet I really like this feeling that just emerged yesterday and I don’t know how long it will last."
Motan blinked again, feeling somewhat understanding yet completely clueless.
"For someone like Theresa Tarosa, having someone to admire isn’t an easy task."
As the girl walked past Motan, she was leisurely tidying up things on the table while speaking softly, "Unlike Mr. Hei Fan, I’m a rather special girl, having grown up in a somewhat special environment, always protected and pampered by many people, always able to get what I like or want, always having many of my rather excessive requests fulfilled..."
Motan smiled, turning to look at the girl’s frail silhouette, "Like impersonating Foster to participate in the Warfire League?"
"Yes, exactly like that, Theresa is always cared for by everyone, and yet, even so, she doesn’t make many friends, and it’s hard for her to be like other girls her age and build good relationships with many people. She just stays willfully in her comfort zone, pretending to be very well-behaved."
Theresa continued speaking lightly, as her back was to Motan, so her expression couldn’t be seen, "Clearly, I could take that step according to everyone’s expectations, clearly, I long for the life of a normal girl, but no matter what, I’m unwilling to step out, clearly wanting to interact with others, yet hating to interact with them, clearly pretending to be easy to get along with, but actually very proud and easy to look down on others."
Motan raised an eyebrow, "Are you saying you’re a hypocritical person? Or a contradictory one?"
"I don’t know, maybe a bit of both."
Still in an overly light tone, the girl said softly with a hint of laughter, "But that’s actually not important, because I’m really just a selfish person—as long as I can be happy and content, that’s enough."
"So?"
"So, I’m really glad you appeared, Mr. Hei Fan, and I’m also glad I could like you, but I don’t really seem to want to have you."
"Should I breathe a sigh of relief?"
"At least after realizing this, I did take a deep sigh of relief."
"Can I ask the reason?"
"I’d rather you guess for yourself, Mr. Hei Fan."
"I can’t guess."
Feeling that this answer would make her happier, Motan told a little lie.
"Hehe, then I’ll just tell you directly, Mr. Hei Fan."
While carefully arranging the sorted documents at the corner of the table, Theresa said in a low voice, "Because compared to a relationship that might cause a lot of stress, compared to overcoming those unique challenges between lovers, compared to not liking to be hated or criticized, Theresa finds that liking someone unilaterally seems a bit easier."
Motan scratched his head, using a tone implying vague understanding, "I see."
"So even though Mr. Hei Fan’s role is ’the person Theresa likes,’ he is only ’the person Theresa likes.’ You’re merely the vessel for these feelings, but you don’t need to worry about being affected by the owner of these feelings... that being me, because I’ve already gotten what I wanted."
Theresa walked over to the set of projection equipment, gently bending down to carry out the shutdown command while saying leisurely, "I want to like someone, to admire someone, and Mr. Hei Fan just happened to be that person. It’s just that simple."
"Somehow it feels a bit embarrassing."
Motan touched his cheek and laughed lightly in the same lighthearted tone, "I’m blushing."
"I’m also embarrassed, but only just now. I’m much better now."
