Four Split Personalities
Chapter 2807 - 1329: It’s All in Chaos! (Part 2)
As she paced internally, Teresa nodded with a complex expression and forced a very, very reluctant smile at Yu Chen, muttering under her breath with a tone that was three parts wistful, two parts bitter, one part admiring, and four parts tragic: "Thank you for your generosity~"
[Generosity...]
Lian, who could no longer bear to watch, slapped her forehead with her hand.
[Generosity??]
Yu Chen blinked in confusion, then suddenly ’understood,’ her pretty face turning a bit pale.
[What do you mean by generosity!]
Motan immediately felt a simple urge to run away, shameful to admit, but the ’King’ of the [Clown Brand] was indeed spooked by that pink K in his hand, his legs shaking like a sieve.
"Well... uh, Captain Foster."
Yu Chen, on impulse, tightened her hold on Motan’s arm (someone suddenly didn’t feel like escaping), and after several seconds of silence, she mustered up the courage to raise her small face and softly said: "Although it might be a bit presumptuous to say this, Hei Fan is someone very, very important to me, so... uh, do you understand?"
"I understand."
Although Teresa said she understood, she really didn’t. She took a deep breath where she stood, then nodded very seriously and said, "You can trust me, Your Highness the Saintess."
[Honestly, I don’t trust you at all right now...]
Yu Chen awkwardly smiled, then released her arm from Motan, telling herself earnestly that Foster, as an NPC, couldn’t possibly sexually harass Motan in any way, and seriously stepped back half a step.
...
One minute later
Amidst the expectations of all, and with Lei Er Si and La Ersi having nothing more to say to each other than the recent city legend of ’courteous ogre teacher,’ both players and counselors finally emerged from the battle zone, greeting the crowd with bewildered waves amid a roaring chorus of cheers.
Honestly, such a scene might be a piece of cake for Lian and the real ’Foster Ward,’ but for Teresa, Motan, and Yu Chen, it was overwhelming to say the least.
But everyone had experienced great waves before, whether it was Teresa, who had been close to extraordinary beings since childhood, or Motan, who had stirred things up significantly in this world, or even the Saintess of the Church of the Dawn. Even if they were a bit shaken, they wouldn’t lose their composure, so after a brief moment of shock, they managed to handle the situation naturally enough.
Finally, after bowing to the audience from all sides, and shaking hands with Foster again at his encouragement and in full view of everyone, Motan finally returned to the player prep area he felt he hadn’t seen in nearly a month. He greeted his support team (Yizou, Fyari, Black, Shalia, Luna) simply before leaving Yu Chen to sit with them and share the contest journey, while he walked with Foster towards the main campus area of the Dan Slave Military Academy.
As for Lian, she disappeared quietly without anyone noticing.
Motan didn’t care much about this. First, he was clear about Lian’s identity and ability, believing this genius second-generation girl assassin was fully capable of such a stunt. Secondly, he was more concerned about what Foster, this bastard, wanted to discuss with him than Lian’s whereabouts.
Well, actually he already had an answer in his heart but was reluctant to face it.
You never know people’s true intentions... he really didn’t expect Foster, with his big eyebrows and eyes, to be bent. Bent is one thing, everyone has a right to love whoever they want, but being bent on him was a bit too much!
[No, I’ve got to act first!]
After a long internal debate, Motan, having made up his mind, was about to speak when the man beside him, who seemed to have been lost in thought, suddenly interrupted—
"Black Vatican Priest, you’ve never officially entered the main campus area before, right?"
He muttered this inexplicably, then gave Motan a gentle smile (Motan’s arms broke out in goosebumps), softly saying: "I’m glad to be able to show you around my academy, which is like home to me."
Motan twitched the corner of his mouth and replied with a stiff "uh."
Then... then they just stood there awkwardly! Foster didn’t say anything, and Motan also had nothing to say, both walking through the teaching building, past the dormitory, through the lab building, past the small sports ground, past the communal bath, past the canteen, and finally arrived at a beautifully landscaped little garden.
Foster’s lips stayed slightly upturned, looking quite pleased.
And Motan was already feeling trapped from a few minutes ago.
Finally, almost driven crazy by the atmosphere, he couldn’t stand it anymore, coughing dryly, "By the way..."
"Waaa!!!"
With a ’bang,’ and under Motan’s dumbfounded gaze, Foster Ward performed a classic trip where his left foot entangled his right and fell flat, laying spread-eagle on the ground with a couple of twitches.
[Are you kidding me!?]
Motan was shocked.
Foster immediately flipped back up, sitting in a standard duck position, awkwardly scratching the back of his head, apologizing with a laugh: "Sorry, I might be a bit tired..."
In Motan’s mind, whether Foster was tired or not didn’t matter. The point was he was talking while maintaining a duck sitting position! Duck sit! Duck! Sit!
"Captain Foster Ward."
Motan took a deep breath and ruthlessly ignored the expression that seemed to say ’help me up,’ speaking seriously: "What exactly do you want to talk to me about?"
’Foster’ was stunned for a moment, then awkwardly scratched at his cheek and, after quite a while, slowly stood up, stating honestly: "I haven’t thought about it yet..."
"Alright, fine, okay!"
Motan also let go, sitting heavily on a nearby bench, his face darkened as he said: "You haven’t thought about what to say, then I’ll speak."
’Foster’ blinked: "Eh?"
"Let’s lay our cards on the table, I know you’re a person with ideals and ambitions. I also know it’s been tough for you, of course... didn’t expect it to be this tough."
Motan sighed deeply, rubbed his temples, speaking dryly: "You’re not supposed to be a sentimental person; you shouldn’t let sentiment affect the big picture. Just imagine, the person in front of you is a member of the Holy Church Joint Delegation, if not for... sigh..."
A bewildered ’Foster’ tilted his head, curiously asking: "If not for... what?"
"If not for the fact that I not only know about the existence of your [Clown Brand] but am familiar with your ’King,’ having heard many things about you, the ’Red Heart K,’ from him, your current actions would be highly risky with someone else."
Motan rubbed his brow hard, weighing his words: "I may not have the qualifications to dictate your life, but as a friend of your organization’s... leader’s... acquaintance, I feel obliged to remind you that this is not right."
"Clow... Clown Brand, what is that? And King... who is Red Heart K?"
"There’s no need to play dumb in front of me, Foster, I’m trustworthy to your [Clown Brand], even more deserving of trust than anyone else, understand? I’m not an enemy, quite the opposite, I’m a friend of that king of yours."
"Wait... wait, I think I’ve been hearing things I shouldn’t."
"There’s nothing you shouldn’t hear, I told you I’m one of us, at least half of us. I know about your recommendation for Lian to join the [Clown Brand], and I know she got a Red Queen card."
"Lian senior?!"
"That’s right, I think Lian’s a good girl, you should trea... wait!"
"Uh..."
"What do you mean by Lian senior?!"
"This..."
"Who are you!"
