Four Split Personalities
Chapter 2804 - 1328: Captain Foster Wants a Private Chat With Me, the Post-Match Romance Mind Game (Misty)
"It... it’s over..."
Lei Er Si let out a groan, collapsing into her chair without any regard for her image. She stared blankly at the crystal screen displaying the match results in mid-air for a long time before speaking in an utterly flat voice as if she’s been worn out, "As everyone can see, the Black Vatican contestant from the Holy Church Joint Delegation has claimed the final victory. After an hour and thirty-three minutes, he finally defeated the number one seed, Foster Ward from the Dan Slave Military Academy, successfully advancing to the Sweet Sixteen... Oh my God, the Sweet Sixteen."
At the end, this young woman, who was almost numbed by the stimulation, eventually collected herself, exclaiming with incredibly complex emotions.
"You don’t seem that excited."
La Ersi, already slumped in her chair, slightly curled her lips, lazily propping herself up to raise her eyebrows at the ’camera’ and slyly smiled at all the spectators watching her, "You don’t seem to be that excited either. Where are the cheers? The applause?"
The audience, who had screamed hoarse, clapped till their hands were swollen, and overturned the entire block in the past ten minutes, looked at each other before finally exploding into a round of considerable cheers and applause, offering their utmost sincerity to praise the victor and encourage the defeated.
At this moment, there was no talk of support or lack thereof. Whether it was the Black Vatican Priest or Captain Foster, in the eyes of all viewers, they both put on such a high-quality match that right now, any words seemed pale and powerless; some even felt like they had witnessed history.
"It’s not that I’m not excited."
Lei Er Si, who sat upright obediently after only a few seconds, shook her head with a lingering blush on her face, murmuring softly, "I just feel like I was almost burnt out before..."
La Ersi slightly tilted her lips, smirking mischievously, "Yes, yes, it’s the first time I’ve seen you, Lei Er Si, jumping up and down, waving your arms and shouting like that!"
"Sister!"
Lei Er Si’s face instantly turned beet red, her silver teeth lightly biting, gaze downcast and hesitant to speak, leaving many onlookers in awe.
"Hey, it’s fine, it’s not embarrassing, didn’t you see some people even fell off the stands before."
La Ersi pinched her sister’s small face, sighing leisurely, "Who would have thought? Who could have imagined someone would be mad enough to send troops deep into enemy territory to execute a beheading tactic to take out the opponent’s command center in a map of this scale?"
Lei Er Si stuck out her tongue, whispering, "Anyway, I’d never dare to think of it..."
The sisters’ words were spot on because, in such large-scale battles, the difficulty of executing a beheading plan is entirely different from the previous Comprehensive Knight Tournament.
We all know that the sole strategic objective for both sides in this exercise is to crush the enemy forces, and generally, there are only two ways to accomplish this.
Using chess as an analogy, it would be akin to either capturing a certain number of enemy pieces first or directly taking out the opponent’s king.
And in the exercise, although a theorem exists that directly results in defeat if the command center is breached, its difficulty is like comparing apples and oranges to giving a checkmate in chess. In comparison, breaking a large number of enemy troops and accumulating them to a certain threshold to achieve the ’crushing’ condition is almost the only answer.
In lower-level games, it might be more manageable, but for Commanders like Motan and Teresa, getting their command center taken out is sheer fantasy. One must know their command centers can not only relocate swiftly, but are usually situated in the heart of their controlled zone, heavily guarded by large forces and reserves. If this can be broken through, it would essentially mean their front lines have been collapsed.
Yet... exceptions exist for everything.
Just a few minutes ago, in this strategic simulation duel clearly of top-level play, the Black Vatican Priest, a Holy Church Joint Delegation member commanding the Blue Army, miraculously executed a beheading with an independent force equivalent to half an army corps, possessing terrifying combat power against the number one seed, Foster Ward, even as their main battlefront was almost completely wiped out, leaving only reserves to fend off the opponent’s attack while the independent unit plunged deep into enemy territory.
"In case anyone doesn’t understand, let’s explain first. Everyone look up, look up."
La Ersi cleared her throat, motioning for everyone to look at the sand table perspective map still hovering in the air, frozen at the match’s ending. She said calmly, "I think many have already noticed, whether it was the central battle area formerly serving as the battleground or the Red-controlled region where the Black Vatican Priest managed to break through, that the Zero Independent Army was always at an absolute disadvantage in number of troops. Then one might wonder, why did Foster still lose when you could have just overwhelmed them with sheer numbers, right? Lei Er Si."
"Because things aren’t that simple."
Grasping the essence of La Ersi’s speech, Lei Er Si nodded and continued, while nervously watching the crystal screen displaying the bird’s-eye view, "Everyone can see that despite always breaking through with group wolf tactics as a base, the independent army from the Blue side always paid attention to maintaining distance and mutual support, meaning they remained an impenetrable whole. This limited the area where a frontal engagement could occur greatly."
