.

Normally, upon seeing a list of mandatory scenario choices again after a long time, Uhtred would have relished the moment. In fact, he might have had a laugh or two about the third option, attributing it to the troublesome, sleazy fellows within his multiversal chat...

But after reading the very last option, all of that flew right out the window.

He stared at the last option with dread building in his chest as the seconds ticked down to select a choice.

Reveal your class...

The words thundered like a death knell in his mind, reminding him again that he was well and truly in the Tower — that he had returned to a place where he could really be forced into decisions that he would never naturally make on his own.

The percentage of viewers that wanted to see him reveal his class was a measly 3%, but the fact that there was any percentage at all was a huge red flag to Uhtred.

It seemed the silent entities who had purchased slots in his multiversal stream from other multiversal entities had finally begun to make their move...

Realizing that, Uhtred’s demeanor immediately changed. He calmed himself as quickly as he could, then selected choice number 2: Act low-key. Entering the city first, like a normal person, and figuring out the state of things was the most logical choice.

The moment his choice was made, the world around Uhtred resumed normally again. He continued walking as naturally as possible so as not to draw attention to the fact that the last option had shaken him thoroughly.

He didn’t want more of his viewers believing he truly had something extremely unique — something so sensitive that merely hinting at revealing it sent him into a cold sweat.

Internally, however, Uhtred’s mind was moving rapidly.

This changes everything. I expected this to happen eventually, but not this early!

My only play right now is to stay nonchalant and stop any more viewers from siding with these saboteurs trying to expose my class.

I need to figure out what triggers these mandatory scenario choices and find a way to game the system to suppress them entirely...

So far, the scenario choices, even if uncomfortable, had seemed mostly harmless to Uhtred. But this was now entering a new dimension of danger. Uhtred needed new ways to regain control. He couldn’t let these guys get what they wanted. He was not at the level yet where he could steal his words from the void — like Towermaster Lorien had said.

If he were, this wouldn’t be an issue... but he wasn’t there yet.

Driven by a surge of nervous urgency, Uhtred lost all desire to linger in the woods.

Without hesitation, he triggered Slipstream Stride, clearing the remainder of the Brutal Wilderness in under ten minutes.

The forest thinned into a sparse line of trees before giving way to rolling grassy hills. Green mounds stretched into the distance, painting a vast, picturesque landscape.

Beyond the hills, almost at the very edge of the horizon, a city could clearly be seen. Even from Uhtred’s distance, its size could still be perceived. It spread out like a black patch to the northeast, a city that looked like it could house at least a million people.

At the very center of it, stood a spire that seemed to touch the clouds.

Uhtred would have taken the time to admire it, but he currently lacked the patience for that. Instead, he took in the whole view for a short few seconds before honing in his direction at the city and charging straight toward it with Slipstream Stride.

He made sure to move at a reasonable speed, just in case there were eyes watching him. He didn’t want to reveal the full extent of his capabilities to any potential onlookers.

In less than five minutes, he reached the outskirts of the city.

Here, crowds of pedestrians, merchants, and adventurers could be seen moving in and out of the city in droves.

Uhtred took a spot in the long line leading up to the city gates. He had deftly blended into the crowd despite coming in from the open lands where no clear roads existed. His arrival had gone unnoticed by anyone... or at least he thought it had.

Just as he fluidly inserted himself into the long line, he felt a gaze land on him scrutinizingly. A feeling Uhtred hadn’t felt in a long time washed over him...

The feeling of being inspected.
