Chapter 1521: Chapter 1536: Return to Nan’an

"I’m afraid what’s needed is for me to report every word and deed of mine over the past two months to the leadership. I shouldn’t be reporting to Deputy Captain Lin, should I? In our Special Training Team, since when did the deputy get to run the show?"

Jing Xiangyang deliberately put extra weight on the word "deputy."

Lin Junyang looked completely unconcerned. "What a coincidence, the captain’s not here today, so for now I call the shots in the Special Training Team. Go ahead, Doctor Jing, tell me what you’ve been up to these past two months. Don’t tell me it’s all been tailing people, climbing walls and windows, pestering and playing the rascal?"

Jing Xiangyang’s lips twitched almost imperceptibly. How the hell did this guy manage to guess every single thing?

But he quickly covered up that flicker of guilt, sat down in his seat, took out pen and paper, and scribbled down a line.

Lin Junyang raised his brows. He hadn’t expected this guy to be this easy to bluff—was he seriously going to write a self-critique?

Honestly, that day when he saw him storm off dragging that girl out with him, he’d felt ridiculously pleased. Served him right for clinging to his Xiao Xiao all night.

Then the guy disappeared for two months, which only made Lin Junyang more curious. He’d heard Jing Xiangyang once had "someone" like that—could it be that second-rate little artist from Fourth Brother’s company?

But when Lin Junyang stepped closer and saw what was written on the paper, his whole face went dark.

"Jing Xiangyang, you’re shameless."

Jing Xiangyang lifted his head and said helplessly, "I know my behavior right now seriously violates the rules of the Special Training Team. As a member of the Special Training Team, even if I’m just the attached doctor, I’m conducting a deep self-reflection on my actions. I feel I’ve lost all face to stay in the team, so I’d like to request a transfer and go back to Nan’an."

Lin Junyang yanked the letter paper from his hand and crushed it into shreds. "You’re ruthless, I’ll give you that."

Leaving the infirmary, Lin Junyang immediately saw his captain’s big Hummer driving in.

He broke into a short run, buzzing over like a little bee that’s just seen a red flower.

"Captain, you’re back." Lin Junyang stood at attention and gave a textbook salute.

Mu Xingfeng returned the salute and headed straight for the dorms with the folder in his hand.

Lin Junyang noticed the document bag he was carrying and followed the tall man upstairs, one in front and one behind. He had a hunch that what was inside was exactly what he’d been thinking about nonstop.

"Something else?" Once they were inside, Mu Xingfeng finally noticed the person behind him.

Lin Junyang pointed at the document bag now lying flat on the table. "Captain, has that case really been handed back to us?"

Mu Xingfeng nodded, not hiding a thing. "Back then, our battalion has been the one following this operation from the start. Even though Qiao Er was taken down that time, Qiao Da is still in Y Country, and their organization has been steadily infiltrating and expanding inside the Empire. If we don’t rip them out by the roots, another Qiao Er will pop up, and then more Qiao Ers after that."

"So what’s the higher-ups’ plan?" Lin Junyang was a bit confused. When the Special Training Team was formed, this mission hadn’t been assigned to them. Now, after a few months, dropping it on them again meant starting over, which would obviously chew up a lot of their manpower and energy. Three months was plenty of time for the other side to rest and regroup.

"Nan’an has had people tracking them this whole time. Now the other side has made a new move. If nothing goes wrong, Y Country and the Empire are going to have a deal. Their new leader in the Empire will be sent to handle it. So the higher-ups want our Special Training Team to work with Nan’an’s side and try to wipe them out completely during the transaction."
