Chapter 1318: Chapter 1317: Young Master Peary Is Terrifying

After Maxwell Peary left the ward, his expression changed instantly.

He hadn’t expected Leon Blackwood to be so blatant.

However, whether it was truly Erick Hamilton’s doing still needed a thorough investigation.

With this in mind, Maxwell quickened his pace.

An abandoned warehouse in D City—

Maxwell Peary sat on a broken chair, facing several henchmen.

And surrounding these henchmen was a middle-aged man.

The man was in a suit, but it was now thoroughly disheveled, squatting with his hands over his head, looking very distressed.

"Who... who are you all?"

The man spoke tremblingly, his eyes constantly darting towards Maxwell Peary.

Even if he was not very perceptive, at this moment he could see that these people primarily listened to that man’s orders.

"Speak, what bad deeds have you done in the past few days?"

These henchmen were quite experienced, not easily revealing the reason for the beating.

You better confess your misdeeds, maybe they’ll even bring out some fresh details.

The man’s whole body trembled, huddled there saying nothing.

Seeing him still stubborn, one henchman immediately kicked him.

"Not speaking? Huh? Hurry up and talk!"

"Ah! I’ll speak, I’ll speak, I’ll speak. I... I... stole a car two days ago."

The man clutched his stomach, shivering all over, fearing these henchmen would kick him again.

"Who cares what car you stole!"

The henchman kicked again, signaling poor character in this person.

"Don’t talk about those trivial things, just be honest, did you set a fire?"

At the mention of arson, the man’s heart instantly drummed.

He had done this one thing in the past few days; could they be looking for him because of that fire?

No way?

He still understood Molly Harguez’s family, completely ordinary in every way.

There was absolutely no way they knew so many powerful people.

"I didn’t set any fire, look at my hand, I’m also a victim of that fire."

The man quickly showed his hand, it was reddish but without blisters.

A henchman, seeing his temerity, straightaway slapped him.

"Who cares whether you’re some sort of victim? Just tell me clearly, was it you who set the fire?"

"It wasn’t me."

"Wasn’t it? Alright, guys, beat him until he confesses."

"Ah!"

...

Instantly, the abandoned warehouse echoed with wails, and after a few hits, the man finally couldn’t take it.

"I’ll speak, I’ll speak, it was me who started the fire, it was me."

He seriously doubted that if he didn’t confess, he would be beaten to death.

"Was it you who injured Molly Harguez’s leg?"

The man thought Molly Harguez probably woke up, so they had come for him.

If so, denying it here was futile.

"I hit her, I used that stick over there, I just didn’t want her to escape."

The man nodded in admission.

"Who ordered you to do this?"

One henchman glanced at Maxwell Peary, and seeing him nod, asked this question.

"No one ordered me, I did it myself."

The man’s face was full of terror hearing this question.

Though afraid, he still didn’t reveal who was behind it.

"Damn, still not talking, keep hitting him!"
