Chapter 933: 932 Do not look at rudeness

Luo Haofeng saw her reaction, the smile at the corner of his lips deepened, and his gaze became even more tender, “Xiaoxiao, half a month ago, when you called to tell me that you were going abroad, I didn’t tell you my thoughts. Today, I came back just to share my thoughts with you.”

Bai Xiaoxiao blinked in bewilderment, “Me going abroad, what thoughts could you have?”

Luo Haofeng chuckled, his eyes drifting down to the pastries on the table. He casually picked up a piece, put it into his mouth, and chewed slowly. After swallowing, he spoke in a calm, unhurried manner:

“Xiaoxiao, when I first heard you were going abroad to study, I was surprised, and that was all I could think about.”

Luo Haofeng’s smile faded, and his tone turned serious.

Bai Xiaoxiao was taken aback; she recalled how Luo Haofeng had been silent for a long while on the phone that day, eventually giving a noncommittal grunt, and a wave of inexplicable emotion surged in her heart.

She couldn’t quite describe the feeling; it seemed a bit bitter, especially now, seeing his handsome face that had become thinner since he left G City. Her brows furrowed, and she asked off-topic, “Didn’t you have lunch?”

Luo Haofeng’s eyes flickered lightly, and then a smile returned to his lips as he said airily, “I was a bit busy today, and I forgot to have lunch.”

Bai Xiaoxiao immediately became annoyed, “Being busy is your excuse for not eating? Luo Haofeng, are you trying to work yourself to death?”

Luo Haofeng’s eyes warmed, and he spoke gently, “Xiaoxiao, don’t be angry, I’m not trying to work myself to death. I do eat on time usually.”

“I don’t believe you.”

After saying this in frustration, Bai Xiaoxiao turned and beckoned to a waiter in the distance. The waiter quickly came over, “Please bring us two more servings of pastries and a beverage.”

“Alright, miss, please wait a moment.”

After the waiter left, Bai Xiaoxiao chided Luo Haofeng, who still had a silly grin, “You still have the nerve to laugh.”

Luo Haofeng quickly toned down his smile, “Xiaoxiao, what I said is true. I’ve been very busy since returning to the company, but I have been eating on time, it’s just that today, I moved this week’s work schedule forward…”

“Moved forward a week’s worth of work?”

“I want to see you off to study abroad. I won’t be at ease until I see the living environment you’ll have overseas,” Luo Haofeng said seriously, a departure from his usual carefree demeanor. Bai Xiaoxiao couldn’t tell if it was her imagination, but she felt his words were domineering, in a way that didn’t allow for her refusal.

“I’m not a child; I don’t need you to send me abroad.”

Bai Xiaoxiao’s rejection was instinctive; she knew he had just taken over the family business and had to be busy. Moreover, he had risen to power as soon as he joined the company, and surely many people opposed him.

Under such circumstances, the fact that he still wanted to see her off abroad left her unsure whether to be touched or angry.

Luo Haofeng witnessed the changes in her expression, tenderness naturally surfacing in his narrow, peach blossom eyes, “Xiaoxiao, I know you’re not a child. I also know you’re worried about me falling behind on work if I leave for a few days. Don’t worry, I’ve made arrangements at the company. Besides, this trip of mine is a business trip.”

Bai Xiaoxiao’s face remained stern as she asked with annoyance, “You have a business trip abroad?”

“Mhm, abroad, to a city close to the one you’re going to. So, you don’t need to feel any apology or guilt.”

Luo Haofeng teased with his tone.

Bai Xiaoxiao laughed in exasperation, “What a coincidence that your company happens to have a business trip abroad during these few days?”

Luo Haofeng arched an eyebrow and chuckled, “Of course, it’s a deliberate arrangement by me. This way, I get to personally see you off abroad without neglecting my work. Plus, in the future, I’ll be able to visit you overseas from time to time.”

From the day Xiaoxiao told him she was going to study abroad, Luo Haofeng began to contemplate the future between him and her.

He wasn’t against Xiaoxiao going abroad to study; rather, two years was too long, he didn’t want to bear such an extended period of yearning, nor did he feel at ease about her being alone in a foreign land for two years.

But he knew that once Xiaoxiao had made up her mind, she would not likely change it easily. He made another call to Wen Ran to understand the situation better. Wen Ran told him that Xiaoxiao had decided to go abroad for his sake, and he began to plan how he could legitimately visit Xiaoxiao over the next two years.

Thus, he now had a reason to go abroad.

It wasn’t difficult to expand their company’s business overseas since Haochen had already opened up the market in Europe and established a good network there…

When Mo Xiuchen came home, the house was bustling with activity.

The season was nearing late autumn; by the time he arrived home, it was already dusk.

There was no one in the yard anymore, everyone had moved to the living room, where it was packed full. In addition to the crowd that had celebrated his memory recovery last time, Zhou Lin and her daughter Tiantian were there.

There was also Li Qian’s flower-guarding knight, her husband and son.

Shen Yuting hadn’t come; Wen Ran hadn’t been in touch with her lately, and she hadn’t called her this afternoon either.

Wen Ran and Bai Xiaoxiao, each holding a little one, saw Mo Xiuchen come in. Wen Ran’s face immediately beamed with a radiant smile as she stood up with Tiantian in her arms.

“Ranran, let me take Tiantian.”

Zhou Lin smiled and reached out her hand. Wen Ran didn’t refuse, handing Tiantian over to her as she approached him, taking the briefcase from his hand and looking into his eyes, brimming with a tender smile, “Why so early, did you leave work ahead of time?”

Mo Xiuchen ignored everyone else in the room, his eyes fixed only on Wen Ran. Even though she had been working as his secretary for the past month, sharing an office with him, he felt as though he hadn’t seen her for a long time after just one day.

He missed her immensely.

He had restrained himself from calling her all day, not wanting to interrupt her shopping with Bai Xiaoxiao.

Now that he saw her, his heart settled down at last, filled with satisfaction. His well-defined palm caressed her cheek, gently tidying the hair behind her ear as he leaned in to whisper, “Ranran, I’ve missed you a lot.”

From the sofa, someone whistled.

Others joked around. Wen Ran’s face heated up and she glanced back at them sharply, but at that moment, Mo Xiuchen pulled her into his embrace and stole a kiss on her cheek. He turned to the group on the sofa with his eyebrows furrowed in displeasure, “Avert your gaze from what doesn’t concern you.”

“Mo Xiuchen, you’re being too overbearing, expressing such things in front of so many people.”

Luo Haofeng protested dissatisfiedly.

Mo Xiuchen gave him a glance and raised his eyebrows unconcernedly, “This is my house; you can take Bai Xiaoxiao and enjoy your own little world.”

“Mo Xiuchen, I’ve done nothing to offend you.” Now it was Bai Xiaoxiao’s turn to protest. Next to her, Li Qian smiled and retrieved her son.

“Then make sure Ah Feng keeps his mouth shut. Otherwise, are you implying both of you should be kicked out if you can’t keep Luo Haofeng quiet?”
