Chapter 1862: 1861: Just the Two of Us
Chapter 1862: Chapter 1861: Just the Two of Us
Despite Bai Xiaoxiao’s repeated reminders, if Luo Haofeng was too tired, he should wait until tomorrow to come to G City.
Yet for him, not seeing her for a day felt like three years, so the great CEO Luo rushed over on Friday night.
When the phone rang, Bai Xiaoxiao was chatting with Mother Bai and Mr. Bai on the living room sofa. She placed the fruit platter in her hands onto the coffee table and, while taking out her phone, said with a cheerful smile, “Mom, Dad, it’s Haofeng calling.”
Mother Bai saw the happiness and sweetness written in her daughter’s eyes, and sighed softly in her heart.
No matter whose son Luo Haofeng was, her daughter’s happiness was genuine.
Just like Mr. Bai had said, when Xiaoxiao was with Meng Ke, she never had this kind of joyful and blissful look.
Her brows and eyes were filled with the sweetness of love.
“Xiaoxiao, did you two agree on this? Hurry and answer it.”
Mr. Bai smiled kindly, stood up, and said to Mother Bai who was sitting beside him, “Xiuyun, let’s go upstairs.”
Mother Bai nodded, asked Mr. Bai to go up first, and before leaving the sofa, she reminded concernedly, “Come back early and be careful in the early stages of pregnancy.”
Bai Xiaoxiao realized the implication in her mother’s words, a hint of embarrassment flashed across her face as she frowned, “Mom, stop overthinking it.”
Mother Bai laughed and went upstairs.
“Xiaoxiao, I’ve landed. Where are you?”
As soon as the call connected, Luo Haofeng’s voice came through the phone, clear and joyful, almost as if he was speaking right next to her ear.
A smile appeared on Bai Xiaoxiao’s lips, “I’m at home. Do you want to come over?”
“Okay, wait for me at home, I’ll come to you.”
Luo Haofeng agreed without hesitation. He was openly dating Xiaoxiao now, so going to her house to see her was normal.
Bai Xiaoxiao laughed and said, “Don’t come to the house. Tell me a place, and I’ll go find you.”
“Just wait at home for me, that way I can be at ease.”
After saying that, Luo Haofeng hung up the phone.
Looking at the phone that was hung up, Bai Xiaoxiao pretended to be displeased as she murmured, but her heart was sweet.
Luo Haofeng insisted on coming to her house to pick her up, simply because he wasn’t at ease with her going out so late at night.
The main reason Luo Haofeng wasn’t at ease was because Meng Ke hadn’t been caught yet.
Although previously, Meng Ke had plotted to send Bai Xiaoxiao to D Country, that was before he became a fugitive.
Now, he’s likely too busy avoiding police pursuit to have time to plan revenge on her.
Bai Xiaoxiao didn’t think she was so captivating that Meng Ke would linger in thoughts about her.
Half an hour later, Luo Haofeng arrived at the Bai Family.
Bai Xiaoxiao told Mother Bai and Mr. Bai and then went out.
Under the dim lights, Luo Haofeng’s tall figure stood in front of the car, a pleasant curve on his lips. Upon seeing her come out, he immediately approached.
He gently called out, “Xiaoxiao.”
Facing his peach blossom eyes that were smiling, Bai Xiaoxiao pursed her lips and smiled, “Did you drive yourself?”
“Yes, I did.”
He said, pulling her to the car, opening the door for her to get in.
Bai Xiaoxiao bent over and got in the car. Luo Haofeng made sure the door was closed properly, then walked around the car to get into the driver’s seat.
As soon as he closed the car door, Luo Haofeng leaned over and pulled Bai Xiaoxiao into his arms, holding her tightly.
Bai Xiaoxiao’s heart warmed, and she couldn’t help but wrap her hands around his waist.
“Xiaoxiao, I missed you so much.”
His deep, hoarse voice echoed in her ear. After holding her for over ten seconds, Luo Haofeng’s large hand cupped her head, lowered his own, and gently kissed the lips he had longed for.
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, and even a single kiss made Bai Xiaoxiao’s heart race.
In the confined space of the car, the air suddenly grew ambiguous.
The dim streetlight shone through the front windshield, faintly illuminating the scene of the two kissing inside the car.
Luo Haofeng kissed her gently and attentively, as if transmitting all his longing for the past half-month to Bai Xiaoxiao through this kiss.
When he sensed Bai Xiaoxiao was breathless and entranced by his kiss, he reluctantly ended it.
The large hand that cupped her head did not release her.
His eyes, filled with intense emotion, were locked deeply on Bai Xiaoxiao.
His voice, even more hoarse and magnetic than before, possessed an alluring charm, “Xiaoxiao.”
Bai Xiaoxiao’s heart had long lost its rhythm.
Each beat pounded heavily against her eardrums.
She instinctively pursed her lips, which were still tinged with his taste.
Even though it was darker here than outside, Luo Haofeng clearly saw Bai Xiaoxiao’s shyness.
He chuckled softly and said warmly, “Xiaoxiao, will you go to dinner with me?”
“Okay.”
Bai Xiaoxiao agreed quietly, her emotions still unsettled.
After a kiss, Luo Haofeng’s mood improved significantly, and in less than ten minutes on the road, a call came from Gu Kai.
“Ah Feng, we’re having a barbecue on the mountain. Do you and Xiaoxiao want to come?”
“Barbecue? Why didn’t you invite us earlier?”
Luo Haofeng asked in discontent. Those guys were too much—they didn’t include Xiaoxiao just because he wasn’t around.
Gu Kai laughed heartily on the other end, “Xiaoxiao’s situation is special now. Without you, we wouldn’t dare ask her out.”
On one hand, they knew Luo Haofeng was returning to G City tonight and suspected the two would want some alone time, so they didn’t invite Bai Xiaoxiao.
On the other hand, the barbecue was a last-minute plan.
When they decided on the barbecue, Wen Ran planned to invite Bai Xiaoxiao, but Mo Xiuchen stopped her.
“If you two want some alone time, you don’t have to come,”
Gu Kai added before Luo Haofeng could speak.
Luo Haofeng’s eyes flashed as he turned to Bai Xiaoxiao, “Xiaoxiao, Ah Kai and the others are having a barbecue on the mountain. Do you want to go?”
Bai Xiaoxiao smiled and asked, “Gu Kai and the others? Does that mean Ranran is there too?”
Luo Haofeng nodded, she should be there.
This group of friends rarely acted alone; whenever there was an event, they all participated together.
“Of course, let’s go. You haven’t eaten yet, right? Perfect, let’s have barbecue.”
It was then that Luo Haofeng said into the phone, “We’ll be there shortly.”
Having a barbecue on the mountain in this season is quite romantic.
Even though the weather was a bit hot, the breeze on the mountain was refreshing, and that little bit of heat was dispelled by the happiness and sweetness.
The few men standing by the grill, despite the sweat on their faces, wore bright and happy smiles.
When Luo Haofeng and Bai Xiaoxiao arrived, Mo Xiuchen, Gu Kai, Wen Jin, and Qin Mu had already prepared a lot of food.
Except for Wen Jin, the other three had wives, so Wen Jin was responsible for taking care of a few kids.
Luo Haofeng glanced around, then took large strides over, reaching for the food Mo Xiuchen had grilled and placed beside him, ignoring the cold stare from the latter, and stuffed it into Bai Xiaoxiao’s hands, “Xiaoxiao, have some first.”
