“Did you answer my call?”

The mention of a phone call immediately reminded Mother Luo of waiting by the door earlier.

She couldn’t help but shoot Luo Haofeng a reproachful look.

Luo Haofeng pretended not to notice and asked with a smile, “Mom, it’s my birthday today. Are you planning to buy groceries and cook for me yourself?”

“You’re still having breakfast so late. Aren’t you going to the company today?”

Mother Luo glanced into the dining room and saw breakfast still laid out on the table. Her gaze at Luo Haofeng became more probing.

Luo Haofeng chuckled, “Mom, it’s my birthday today. It’s okay if I go a little later.”

“Alright, I’ll cook for you myself this noon and make you something delicious. But you have to invite Ruoyi over.”

Mother Luo sat down on the sofa.

“No problem.”

Luo Haofeng sat down beside her, agreeing readily.

His mom really liked Tian Ruoyi, and he had no objection to inviting Tian Ruoyi over for such occasions as a birthday.

“I heard you dismissed someone from a factory last night.”

Mother Luo suddenly changed the subject, looking sharply at Luo Haofeng.

Luo Haofeng leisurely pulled out his phone, speaking casually, “Mom, if you can know about such a small thing, have you planted a mole beside me?”

“Ah Feng, was Bai Xiaoxiao at the factory yesterday?”

Mother Luo finally got to the point.

She came looking for Luo Haofeng this morning because of this matter.

The person fired by Luo Haofeng called her, telling her that Bai Xiaoxiao had come to City B and visited the factory with Luo Haofeng.

“Mom, Xiaoxiao came on a business trip with Xiao Yuting, it was for work.”

Luo Haofeng’s expression changed and his tone suddenly turned serious.

“Just work?”

Mother Luo looked at Luo Haofeng, not quite believing.

She knew her son well; ever since Bai Xiaoxiao was abroad, he refused to go on blind dates.

Dialing Tian Ruoyi’s number, he said coolly and confidently, “I’ll call Ruoyi now. Mom, if you don’t believe me, you can ask Ruoyi. She was with me when we entertained Xiao Yuting and Bai Xiaoxiao.”

Seeing her son angry, Mother Luo’s expression eased somewhat.

Now, she no longer held real power; in the company, Luo Haofeng practically had the say.

That was Tian Ruoyi.

Though Tian Ruoyi had only been to their home twice, seeing her interact with Luo Haofeng, Mother Luo was sure Tian Ruoyi liked Luo Haofeng.

“Forget it, even if I don’t believe you, I trust Ruoyi won’t let you get out of hand.”

Luo Haofeng raised an eyebrow, indifferent.

The call went through, and Tian Ruoyi’s voice came on the line. Luo Haofeng’s lips curved into a faint smile as he spoke warmly, “Ruoyi, I’ll be going to the company a bit later today…”

Mother Luo listened to Luo Haofeng and Tian Ruoyi’s conversation, noticing the shallow smile between his brows.

Her worries seemed to decrease a bit.

After hanging up, Luo Haofeng told her, “Mom, it’s getting late. Go to the market and buy more seafood. Ruoyi likes seafood, and I’ll bring her home for lunch.”

Mother Luo glanced at him, stood up, and looked towards the dining room again.

On the table, there was only one set of utensils.

In the living room, there wasn’t the scent of a woman’s perfume.

“Ah Feng, you have a girlfriend now. No matter what happened with Bai Xiaoxiao before, you must forget her.”

Before leaving, Mother Luo reminded him worriedly.

Luo Haofeng laughed nonchalantly, “Mom, haven’t you always said I will get along better with Ruoyi?”

“That’s best. Ruoyi is an excellent girl; you should treat her well.”

After saying this, Mother Luo stepped towards the entryway.

“Mom, do you want me to accompany you to the market?”

Luo Haofeng escorted Mother Luo to the villa’s entrance.

He opened the car door for her, watched her sit inside, and then closed the door behind her.

“Did you make that snowman?”

Mother Luo looked at the snowman a few steps away, asking thoughtfully.

Luo Haofeng raised an eyebrow, smiling slyly, “Mom, isn’t my snowman handsome? I even dressed him in my clothes. Take a closer look; don’t you think you actually gave birth to twins back then?”

“Is this snowman for Ruoyi?”

Mother Luo glared at him, but couldn’t hide a smile.

Ultimately, she was a proud mother.

“Mom, you guessed right. This was the first snowfall of the year, and I didn’t expect it to be so heavy. Do you want to go home and have Dad make a snowman for you too?”

“Your dad, I’d rather not. I can’t order him around.”

Mother Luo’s face darkened slightly.

Her relationship with Father Luo was becoming colder by the day.

“Hurry inside now; dressing so lightly and coming out, be careful not to catch a cold.” Mother Luo waved at Luo Haofeng, instructing the driver to drive away.

It wasn’t until the car was out of sight that Luo Haofeng turned and walked back into the villa.

Bai Xiaoxiao had descended from upstairs and was sitting on the living room sofa.

Seeing her, Luo Haofeng’s lips formed a gentle smile as he strode to the front of the sofa, reaching out to hold her hand.

“Xiaoxiao, let’s continue eating breakfast.”

“No, I should head back to the hotel.”

Bai Xiaoxiao avoided Luo Haofeng’s hand, stood up, intending to leave.

Luo Haofeng’s gaze dimmed, his smile fading from his lips.

Bai Xiaoxiao lowered her gaze slightly, looking defiantly into his eyes, “I heard everything your mom said just now.”

“Xiaoxiao.”

Luo Haofeng tightened his gaze, calling instinctively.

“Haofeng, your mom is right. Ruoyi is a good girl; you should cherish her and treat her well.”

“Xiaoxiao, Ruoyi and I…”

“Don’t say anything. I won’t be with you, and your mom won’t agree to us being together.”

Bai Xiaoxiao said with a bitter smile, “You know better than anyone that we can’t be together. Otherwise, when your mom arrived earlier, you wouldn’t have asked me to avoid her.”

“Xiaoxiao, give me a little more time. I will definitely convince my mom.”

Luo Haofeng frowned, still wanting to reach for Bai Xiaoxiao’s hand.

But she turned away from the sofa.

She stepped towards the entryway, followed closely by Luo Haofeng, her slender and faintly stubborn back catching his eye. He opened his mouth but couldn’t utter a single word.

At the doorway, Bai Xiaoxiao bent down to change her shoes, then turned to Luo Haofeng, “Forget about last night and this morning. Let’s not let it affect each other’s lives.”
