As she spoke, Mom An reached out to push An Lin.
“Let’s go.”
Qin Mu smiled at her slightly, grasped her wrist, and without a word, pulled her out of the master bedroom.
As soon as they returned to the guest room, An Lin shook off Qin Mu’s hand.
Qin Mu’s expression remained calm; he wasn’t angered by her action. Instead, he explained plainly, “I just didn’t want Mom to question you, didn’t want her to worry, which is why I mentioned that bet.”
An Lin frowned. Right now, she didn’t want to hear him bring up that kiss from the night, but he insisted on doing so, as if deliberately going against her.
She turned and walked towards the door.
“An Lin.”
Qin Mu’s handsome brows knitted together; his voice carried a hint of gloom.
It didn’t matter if she was angry with him, but he didn’t want the elders to know. Her firm refusal to share a room with him would be telling her mother there were severe issues between them.
An Lin turned around, her gaze coldly fixed on him.
“You sleep here; I’ll go to the study.”
Suppressing his emotions, Qin Mu left with a sentence and walked out of the guest room with large strides.
An Lin opened her mouth but ultimately said nothing.
She had wanted to go back to get her pajamas, but once again, Qin Mu misunderstood her.
He thought she disliked him to the point of preferring that the elders knew rather than share a room or a bed with him.

“No, I was still asleep when he left. I don’t know either.”
An Lin intentionally yawned, concealing the fact that Qin Mu slept in the study last night.
Mom An thought for a moment after hearing this and then said, “Then give Ah Mu a call. He might have just reached the airport. Check if his phone is off; he left in a hurry, and I didn’t get to ask clearly.”
“Okay, I’ll go to my room to call.”
As An Lin spoke, she turned and left the kitchen, going back to the guest room to make the call.

Earlier, her mother said Qin Mu went on a business trip, which must have been his words. But now, Mo Xiuchen said he returned to A City, leaving An Lin puzzled.
Was there an emergency in A City? Could something have happened to his family?
On the other end of the line, Mo Xiuchen had originally promised Qin Mu not to tell An Lin, but since she asked, he felt there was no need to keep it secret, so he said, “Uncle Qin was injured and is currently being operated on at the Military Hospital of City A. When Mo Xiuchen received An Lin’s call, Wen Ran had just gone to the children’s room.
