Chapter 1433: 1432 I didn’t teach
“Mom, I’m just talking, don’t be mad.”
Bai Yiyi was apologizing, but her eyes were smiling.
Bai Yuqin shot her a sideways look, “I still think you and Ah Kai should get married soon. When Ranran and the others come back in two days, I’ll definitely talk to Director Gu about your marriage during the dinner.”
“Mom, please don’t.”
Bai Yiyi somewhat regretted telling her mother about Director Gu inviting her for dinner.
Afraid she might actually bring up the marriage at that time, she hesitated a bit but could only tell her honestly, “Mom, even though you were in the countryside recently, you knew what happened in G City, didn’t you?”
“What are you referring to?”
Bai Yuqin looked at Bai Yiyi with concern in her eyes, guessing correctly it might be about Professor Fang’s death.
“Recently, an intern at Ah Kai’s hospital sent photos and letters to Fang Zhiwei using my name. It happened that Fang Zhiwei’s father, Professor Fang, saw the letter, was stimulated, had an episode, and passed away as a result.”
“Yiyi?”
Bai Yuqin’s face changed slightly, staring at Bai Yiyi in astonishment.
Although she had been immersed in remorse over past events, she had been following up on G City matters and thus saw the post.
Bai Yiyi said softly, “Fang Zhiwei resents me and Ah Kai for her father’s death, and not only that, she’s possibly been too grief-stricken and unable to let go of Ah Kai, resulting in her developing depression. She almost jumped off a building that New Year’s Eve.”
“And now?”
Surprise appeared on Bai Yuqin’s face.
“Actually, this afternoon she called Ah Kai asking him to pick her up at the airport, but Ah Kai refused. She could harm herself at any time due to her unresolved depression.”
Upon hearing this, if Bai Yuqin still didn’t understand her daughter’s thoughts, then she wouldn’t be Bai Yiyi’s mother.
“Yiyi, if you’re waiting for Fang Zhiwei’s depression to resolve or for her to let go of Ah Kai before marrying him, I don’t agree.”
“Mom.”
Bai Yiyi looked at Bai Yuqin with a complicated expression.
Bai Yuqin gathered herself, her attitude firm: “Yiyi, Fang Zhiwei and Ah Kai had dated, but they broke up long ago. Even if her father’s death was caused by seeing those photos and letters, it shouldn’t be blamed on you. If there’s hatred, it should be directed towards that intern.”
“Mom, Fang Zhiwei just loved someone she shouldn’t have.”
“Loving someone she shouldn’t have, that’s a pain she must endure herself. You shouldn’t give up your happiness to fulfill her love. If Ah Kai loved her, fine, but now, Ah Kai loves you, Yiyi, you can’t be foolish.”
“I never said I want to fulfill her and Ah Kai.” Bai Yiyi frowned.
“You don’t want to now, but that’s because Fang Zhiwei doesn’t know you’re with Ah Kai yet. If she finds out about you two, given her feelings for Ah Kai, and with her depression as protection, she might threaten your separation and force Ah Kai to marry her.”
Bai Yuqin’s words made Bai Yiyi furrow her brow even tighter. She indeed had worries in her heart, knowing her mother’s words weren’t absolutely impossible.
But subconsciously, she preferred to believe in the goodness of human nature; Fang Zhiwei only harmed herself without hurting others. Perhaps, with everyone’s help, Fang Zhiwei would come out of it.
“Mom, don’t say it so seriously. Ranran and the others are working hard to help Fang Zhiwei. I don’t think Fang Zhiwei is a terrible woman; she just loves Ah Kai too much. Maybe, once she figures things out, she’ll let go.”
“Yiyi, you shouldn’t think so kindly about everything; people are selfish. If you love Ah Kai, not only can you not give him up to another woman, but you also can’t let him get too close to Fang Zhiwei.”

Downstairs, Gu Kai had just finished a story with Tongtong, checked the time, and said gently, “Tongtong, daddy will take you to your room, give you a bath, and then sleep with you, okay?”
“Daddy sleep with Tongtong.”
Tongtong hugged Gu Kai’s neck, her smile sweet and adorable.
“Alright.”
Gu Kai touched foreheads with her, smiling in agreement.
Tongtong immediately called out happily, “Mommy sleep too.”
She wanted to sleep with both her dad and mom; she’d be in the middle, with dad and mom on either side.
But Gu Kai’s eyes flickered slightly at her words, he picked her up and left the sofa, “Tongtong, grandma is sick, mommy needs to be with grandma, daddy will be with you.”
“Okay then.”
Tongtong hesitated briefly, feeling a bit disappointed but still agreed obediently.
Gu Kai carried Tongtong to her room, had just started running her bath water when Bai Yiyi entered.
As soon as Tongtong saw Bai Yiyi, she happily shouted, “Mommy, bathe with Tongtong.”
“Tongtong, you want mommy to give you a bath?”
Bai Yiyi walked into the bathroom with a smile, gesturing for Gu Kai to step aside. She stepped forward to help Tongtong undress.
“Tongtong, since mommy is here, daddy will go outside and let mommy bathe you, okay?”
“No.”
Before Gu Kai’s words ended, Tongtong refused without hesitation. Amused, Gu Kai asked, “Tongtong doesn’t want mommy to help you bathe?”
“Daddy helps Tongtong and mommy bathe together.”
Whatever was in Tongtong’s little head, Bai Yiyi began coughing violently when she heard her words.
Gu Kai’s lips curved into a smile, turning to look at the coughing Bai Yiyi, his large hand reached to her back, patting it twice, “Don’t be so excited.”
His words earned him a glare from Bai Yiyi.
“How do you teach Tongtong?” Bai Yiyi felt that Tongtong talked more astonishingly when she was with Gu Kai.
Gu Kai innocently frowned, “Yiyi, you can’t blame me; I didn’t teach Tongtong that, it’s Tongtong who wants to bathe with you.”
“Daddy didn’t teach me.”
Tongtong saw mommy wronged daddy and hurried to explain to daddy.
After speaking, she giggled, “Mommy, Tongtong wants to bathe with you.”
“Mommy will bathe you.” Bai Yiyi shot Gu Kai a look, signaling him to leave. After such intimate moments that afternoon, she couldn’t discuss bathing normally with him.
Furthermore, Tongtong had expressed wanting Gu Kai to help them bathe.
She visualized the scene, and her face turned warm.
Gu Kai noticed a blush appearing on her cheeks, and his gaze deepened as he thought of the passionate scene from that afternoon, feeling a dryness in his throat.
“Why aren’t you leaving yet?”
Feeling the eyes growing hotter, Bai Yiyi gave him a glare, deliberately urging with displeasure.
Gu Kai laughed, leaned in, whispered next to her ear, only for her to hear, “I’ll wait for you in your room.”
“Go home, I’m a bit tired and want to sleep early.”
Bai Yiyi immediately refused Gu Kai’s suggestion without a second thought, but just that one sentence had already caused her heartbeat to lose its rhythm uncontrollably.
