Chapter 78: Chapter 78: What It Means

Chu Moyuan was very close, and the captivating scent of agarwood surrounding him seemed to entangle her all at once. Qiao Suluo was caught completely off guard. She had never expected Chu Moyuan in the Spiritual Sea to act like this, nor to lean in so close. His trailing, lazy, and chilling tone seemed to carry a hook, making her heart burn in waves. However, she clearly sensed that the current Chu Moyuan was dangerous. She wondered if his mental state was still severely unstable and manic.

"Chu... Chu Moyuan, look at me when I speak..." When he lowered his head, she continued, "I know entering a male’s Spiritual Sea is dangerous. If it were anyone else, I definitely wouldn’t do this. I’m only doing this because it’s you. I trust you, and I know you won’t hurt me. I just want to save you."

At this moment, Qiao Suluo felt an unusually intimidating and dangerous aura from Chu Moyuan. Her will to survive made her hurriedly open her mouth to explain. She had realized that to survive well on the Beast World Continent, one must learn to speak up and express oneself. Misunderstandings had to be avoided at all costs; otherwise, one careless mistake could cost her life. She trusted Chu Moyuan, but just as he had said, if he was in a manic state and had lost his reason, he might actually kill her. His aura was too imposing and powerful, carrying a terrifying sense of oppression. It felt off.

As she spoke, her voice couldn’t help but tremble slightly. Although she tried hard to stay calm, Chu Moyuan could clearly hear the fear hidden in her voice. His physical body suffered from deafness, but his spirit body did not. In his Spiritual Sea, he could hear every sound with perfect clarity.

Just as Qiao Suluo was speaking anxiously, the hand restraining her seemed to loosen. Before she could even relax, she felt an incredibly light touch on her hair. Her body stiffened once again. Terrified that his hand would drop down and snap her neck, she blurted out nervously, "Chu Moyuan, is your mind still a bit manic? I can help soothe you." She needed to get him back to normal first.

Seeing her so frightened, Chu Moyuan pulled back the hand that was about to stroke her hair. Did she know what it meant to enter a male’s Spiritual Sea to soothe him? Especially the very first time—it was akin to their spirit bodies making intimate contact, arousing his primal instinct to draw near her. Females would only provide such soothing to a Beast Husband bound by life to them. No one would willingly gamble with their own life.

"Idiot." What an absolute idiot. She was clearly scared to death, yet...

But at that very moment, Chu Moyuan suddenly felt an anomaly in his body. He let out a muffled groan, his expression changing drastically as his legs gave out, causing him to hunch over.

Qiao Suluo’s expression shifted as well. "Chu Moyuan, what’s wrong?" She reached out anxiously to pull him up. Upon contact, she discovered his skin was scorching hot. His entire body was trembling, as if he was enduring something agonizing. "Chu Moyuan, are you in a lot of pain?"

Saying this, Qiao Suluo placed her hand on him, focusing entirely on releasing her spiritual power to soothe his condition. However, in her panic, she failed to control her spiritual power properly. Combined with Chu Moyuan’s peculiar physical condition, his eyes instantly flared with an eerie, crimson red glow.

He abruptly stood up and seized Qiao Suluo’s hand, pressing her against the wall once again. His fingers tilted her chin up. Beneath his icy gaze swam a demonic crimson hue, exuding an unsettling aura of danger.

"Chu Moyuan, you..." His gaze was far too bizarre right now, as if he had lost all consciousness and reason. Qiao Suluo realized something was wrong—terribly wrong. But there was nowhere to run. Chu Moyuan’s fingers gripped her tightly while his other hand brushed against her lips. Then, he lowered his head, and his lips crashed down upon hers.

"Mmph..." Qiao Suluo’s eyes widened in sheer terror. She had anticipated that an irrational Chu Moyuan might kill her, but she had never in a million years imagined that he would kiss her. A silent, frantic scream echoed in her mind. How was this possible?

His lips forcefully plundered her breath, domineering and irresistible. The aura radiating from him was overwhelmingly captivating and alluring. Qiao Suluo couldn’t react at all. In her stunned daze, her breath was ruthlessly devoured. He pressed tightly against her, allowing her to feel the solid, powerful muscles beneath his clothes, radiating a blistering heat.

Just as Qiao Suluo was about to suffocate, she felt his fingertips trail down to the side of her waist. A violent shudder ripped through her. Biting down hard, she instantly drew blood from Chu Moyuan’s lip. He hissed, drawing a sharp breath. In that fleeting second, a sliver of clarity returned to his crimson eyes.

"Chu Moyuan, you... you’ve lost your mind! If you wake up and realize what you’ve done, you’ll definitely regret it. Deep down, you actually despise me." If Chu Moyuan woke up, realized they had intimate contact, and assumed she had used underhanded tricks to get close to him, forget about trying to win his heart—he would loathe her even more and likely kill her.

Chu Moyuan stared deeply into her eyes. A mere second later, a splitting pain assaulted his head. His gaze became half-crimson, half-normal. As if realizing something, he shoved Qiao Suluo away and warned, "Don’t come in here again." Immediately after, Qiao Suluo was ejected from Chu Moyuan’s Spiritual Sea.

The moment her spirit body returned to her physical shell, Qiao Suluo’s legs gave way. She collapsed to her knees, gasping heavily for air. "That was absolutely terrifying," she muttered, still reeling from the shock. She realized that the kiss experienced by her spirit body was infinitely more intense than anything felt by her physical body.

Once she managed to steady her breathing, she noticed more blood seeping from the unconscious Chu Moyuan’s mouth. The blood had even darkened to a sickly black hue. Qiao Suluo reached out to check his pulse again, only to find that his body temperature was dropping rapidly, growing colder by the second. His breath was also growing increasingly faint.

"How could this happen?" She hastily took his pulse and confirmed that his life force was fading fast. Strangely, she couldn’t make any sense of his current physical condition. It was bizarre. If the system had been here, perhaps it would know what was going on. But the system was currently dormant.

"Right, the Life-saving Pill," she muttered to herself. Suddenly remembering this, she hurriedly took out the Life-saving Pill and fed it to Chu Moyuan. At the same time, she continuously channeled her Healing Ability into him. It wasn’t until his breathing stabilized, his body temperature gradually returned to near normal, and he stopped bleeding from his mouth that she finally withdrew her hands. Likely due to the excessive depletion of both her spiritual power and Healing Ability, Qiao Suluo’s vision went black, and she fainted dead away.

When Qiao Suluo woke up again, she found herself cradled in Chu Moyuan’s arms. "Chu Moyuan, you’re okay, right? Thank goodness."

Chu Moyuan had been carrying her as he walked. Seeing that her first thought upon waking was to check on him, a subtle change flickered across his expression. "Since you’re awake, get down. You’re dead weight." Despite his harsh words, Chu Moyuan didn’t just drop her. Instead, he gently set her down.

Qiao Suluo pouted. "If I hadn’t been trying to save you, I wouldn’t have passed out."

Chu Moyuan scrutinized her, his gaze infused with his Divine Sense. "Why did you go to such lengths to save me?" Moreover, he didn’t know what ability she had used, but his deaf ears had miraculously regained a fraction of their function. If someone spoke loudly at close range, he could actually hear them a little. This fact alone had left him profoundly shaken. She had exhausted every effort to approach and save him. How could she possibly have no ulterior motives? He was now a crippled man; he had no idea what value he could still hold for anyone.

"My patience is limited. If you won’t speak, then once we leave this forest, you can go back to where you came from."
