Five Broken Beast Husbands, One Wicked Female with a Pocket Dimension
Chapter 70: Young Master
Chapter 70: Chapter 70: Young Master
Hearing the system’s words, Qiao Suluo’s eyelashes fluttered. "Is Chu Moyuan in danger right now?"
"Yes, his life is in imminent peril. If you delay any longer, something terrible will happen to him. Therefore, Host, you must hurry and save him," the system replied.
"This is also an excellent opportunity. If you save his life, it might change his opinion of you.
"Moreover, Chu Moyuan cannot die. Host, you need to set off as soon as possible."
Qiao Suluo’s expression grew solemn as she listened. She had originally intended to redeem Chu Moyuan but was a step too late; the Qin Family had already sent him into a Secret Realm to search for some kind of medicinal herb.
"System, do you know where Chu Moyuan is right now?" To find him, she needed to know his location rather than running around blindly.
"I do. There is a location map that will be distributed to your Space Mall shortly. Host, you can check it yourself."
Knowing his location would make the search much easier.
Que Hongjin watched her expression shift for a while. Seeing her vivid eyes brimming with a myriad of emotions, he transformed into his human form and asked softly, "Wife, what’s wrong?"
His voice snapped Qiao Suluo out of her daze. Meeting his earnest, worried gaze, she didn’t want to lie to him and cause him further anxiety. She told him the truth, "I sense that Chu Moyuan is in danger, and I want to go find him."
She wasn’t sure if Que Hongjin would believe her. Most people would dismiss such an unfounded claim and think she was just worrying over nothing.
To her surprise, Que Hongjin didn’t even ask for a reason. "Alright," he said without hesitation. "I’ll go with you to find him."
Qiao Suluo was stunned. "You’re not going to ask why? You just believe me that easily?"
Que Hongjin looked at her with a gentle smile and softly stroked her hair. "Yes, I believe my wife. I don’t need a reason."
His little wife held many secrets. If she didn’t want to speak of them, he wouldn’t ask. However, he would implicitly trust every word she chose to share.
Deeply moved, Qiao Suluo reached out and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Hong Jin, you’re so good to me."
It felt wonderful to be trusted so unconditionally. It even gave her a sense of belonging in this world.
Que Hongjin gently returned the embrace, holding her as lightly and tenderly as if she were a fragile treasure. He lightly rubbed his jaw against the top of her head, his eyes filled with affectionate pity. "Don’t be afraid. I’m always here."
He didn’t know where she came from, but he knew this world must be profoundly foreign to her. There had to be lingering insecurity in her heart, which made him ache with tender devotion for her.
His reassuring words washed away her anxiety, bringing her a deep sense of peace. The faint, elegant scent of pine that lingered on him was both incredibly pleasant and deeply soothing to her soul.
Having decided to set off, Qiao Suluo didn’t waste any time. She got out of bed, freshened up, and quickly ate her breakfast. After eating, she prepared to head out. Naturally, she also informed Bai Qianluo about her plans.
Bai Qianluo didn’t ask any questions either. "I will accompany my wife as well," he stated simply.
He already regretted not going out with her last night. Even though he had been forced to stay and guard the house after drawing straws, the regret remained. Therefore, no matter what anyone said today, he was determined to accompany his wife. Otherwise, who knew when she would return? By then, he might end up ranking even lower than Chu Moyuan in her heart.
Qiao Suluo looked up and noticed the exhaustion lingering around his eyes. "Bai Qianluo, you look a bit unwell. Why don’t you stay home and rest?"
Pinching the bridge of his nose, Bai Qianluo murmured, "I’m fine. I just didn’t sleep well."
He hadn’t been able to sleep at all. His mind had been completely consumed by thoughts of his wife all night, leaving his blood restless and churning.
As he spoke, he gently raised a hand to smooth out the strands of Qiao Suluo’s hair that had been ruffled by the wind. His wide sleeves unfurled like flowing clouds with the movement, exuding an aura of aloof nobility. When he looked down at her, the usual coldness in his eyes had long since melted away, revealing a hidden undercurrent of springtime warmth that gave him a grounded, mortal touch.
"Wife, I want to stay by your side," he whispered.
Understanding his stubborn resolve, Qiao Suluo nodded. "Alright, then. We’ll all go together."
Since she was currently doing business with Mr. Zhao and opening a workshop, she would eventually earn silver from the profit shares anyway. There was no rush to set up a stall right now; saving a life took priority.
Once the three of them were properly packed, they set off. Qiao Suluo retrieved the map from the Space Mall, studied it briefly, and led the way in the direction it indicated. They first hired a horse-drawn carriage. After two days of travel, they finally arrived at the outskirts of a dense forest.
"This is the Ancient Secret Forest," Que Hongjin said.
Qiao Suluo glanced at the markings on the map. It only displayed the route, not the name of the forest itself. "The Ancient Secret Forest?" she echoed. She knew Que Hongjin was well-read, but she hadn’t expected him to be familiar with this specific wilderness. It was certainly a peculiar name.
Noticing her confusion, Que Hongjin explained softly, "Yes. Legend has it that this forest is a land of serendipity left behind from ancient times. It is said to contain the Secret Realms of Great Powers. These Secret Realms are rich in spiritual energy and hide various spirit medicines. Many Beastmen come here seeking fortuitous encounters, but very few survive. That is why it is called the Ancient Secret Forest."
Qiao Suluo’s heart leaped into her throat at his words. "So it’s also incredibly dangerous here."
She knew the risks, yet she still had to save Chu Moyuan. She felt that if they encountered danger, it would be fine if she alone perished, but she refused to drag Que Hongjin and Bai Qianluo down with her.
"Don’t be afraid," Que Hongjin said in a clear, soothing voice. "I will stay by my wife."
Reading the hesitation in Qiao Suluo’s eyes, Bai Qianluo spoke up before she could voice her concerns. "I will also stay by my wife. I am not going back."
Qiao Suluo took a deep breath. "Alright. Let’s go in, then."
She resolved to do her utmost to protect herself and rescue Chu Moyuan without becoming a burden to Que Hongjin or Bai Qianluo.
Upon entering the forest, their journey proved relatively safe under the vigilant protection of the two men. Along the way, Qiao Suluo even discovered quite a few medicinal herbs, which she temporarily stored away in the Space Mall. Just as she had suspected, an untouched, primeval forest like this was overflowing with medicinal resources.
However, as they ventured deeper, they crossed paths with several groups of people who seemed to be hunting for lucky encounters or spirit medicines. Qiao Suluo consciously avoided them. She didn’t want to get into any conflicts, nor did she want Que Hongjin and Bai Qianluo to exhaust their strength or risk injuring themselves.
Just as they were nearing the location marked on the map, Qiao Suluo suddenly heard a scoff.
"Young Master, my eyes aren’t deceiving me, are they? Is that the fake heiress, Qiao Suluo? What is she doing here?" a voice mocked. "I thought she was dead! Who knew she was still alive? I can’t believe such a vicious, ugly woman actually has the nerve to show her face here."
The voice was laced with utter disdain. Following the sound, Qiao Suluo spotted a young man in a guard’s uniform glaring at her with contempt and ridicule.
It was Mo Chi, the trusted subordinate of Mo Xuan Ye.
Typically, wherever Mo Chi was, Mo Xuan Ye wouldn’t be far behind. Mo Xuan Ye was the original owner of this body’s former fiancé. However, he had grown to despise her and forcefully annulled their engagement.
Her predecessor had been deeply unwilling to accept this, but she’d had no choice in the matter. After all, Mo Xuan Ye was the Young Master of a noble family—the Mo Family.
Suddenly feeling a piercing gaze on her, Qiao Suluo looked up. There, standing gracefully beneath a tree not too far away, was a man in ink-black robes, radiating an air of peerless magnificence.
