Chapter 67: Chapter 67: Possessiveness

Whenever Bai Qianluo acted like this, exuding an overwhelming sense of fragile vulnerability, Qiao Suluo’s heart would instantly soften.

"N-No..." she stammered. "It’s not that I don’t need you. Um, neither of you has eaten yet, right? Let’s sit down and have a meal together."

After saying that, Qiao Suluo didn’t even dare to look at Que Hongjin’s expression. She couldn’t shake the feeling that his gaze resting on her had a physical weight to it, almost tangible in its intensity.

By the time Qiao Suluo finished washing her hands, Bai Qianluo had already served the food on the table. "Wife, let’s eat first."

Qiao Suluo nodded. "Alright."

Que Hongjin handed a pair of chopsticks into her palm. "Wife, your chopsticks."

As Qiao Suluo reached out to take them, the tips of Que Hongjin’s slender fingers brushed against her palm. The touch was incredibly light and excruciatingly slow. Her hand trembled as a tingling, electric sensation shot from her palm straight to her heart, causing her entire body to shiver. She nearly dropped the chopsticks.

"Mmm..." Qiao Suluo let out a soft gasp.

She looked up at Que Hongjin, only to meet his deep, bewitching gaze. His eyes swirled with a dark intensity, like a vortex threatening to swallow her whole. They brimmed with a surging, scalding heat.

It was a look Qiao Suluo was intimately familiar with—he had looked at her exactly like this on the day they formed their Contract.

"Wife, eat first. I’m not sure if these dishes will suit your taste," Bai Qianluo said as he placed a piece of food into Qiao Suluo’s bowl. His aloof features were completely devoid of their usual indifference; instead, the shadows cast by his eyelashes hid a deeply restrained affection.

Meeting Bai Qianluo’s gaze, Qiao Suluo’s heart skipped a wild, uncontrollable beat.

In the past, she could maintain a calm and peaceful state of mind around him, treating their interactions purely as part of her mission. But ever since they opened up to each other in the mountains that day, she had come to understand his true feelings. Now, whenever she looked into his eyes, she could read the affection hidden within, making it impossible for her to stay rational.

Furthermore, Bai Qianluo was breathtakingly beautiful. His ethereal elegance made him seem wholly untouched by the mortal world. To see someone like him tainted by worldly desires, all for her sake, stirred an undeniable flutter in her chest.

"Okay." Just as she was about to pick up some food, Que Hongjin surprisingly placed another morsel into her bowl.

"Wife, you need to eat more. If you go hungry, how will you endure tonight?" Que Hongjin said, his voice dropping into a husky, meaningful baritone at the end of his sentence. "You need to build up your stamina."

Gripping her chopsticks, Qiao Suluo suddenly didn’t know whether she should start eating or not.

Bai Qianluo cleared his throat softly. "COUGH COUGH... Wife is tired. She needs a good rest tonight. If wife needs it, I can warm your bed, too."

The moment Bai Qianluo finished speaking, a sharp SNAP echoed through the room. Que Hongjin had snapped his chopsticks cleanly in half.

Qiao Suluo almost dropped hers again. She stared at Bai Qianluo in sheer disbelief, hardly able to fathom that such words had come from his mouth. At the same time, she could feel a terrifying, oppressive aura radiating from Que Hongjin. The temperature in the room seemed to plummet.

Qiao Suluo swallowed hard. "System, what do I do now?" she asked in her mind. "Are they angry?"

"Host, they are vying for your affection!" the System replied in an excited tone. "Who would have thought the aloof Bai Qianluo could say something like that? It shows he truly cares about you. And Que Hongjin’s possessiveness is off the charts. He wants you all to himself."

Truthfully, Qiao Suluo still lacked confidence in her current body. "I’m honestly quite shocked they can say such things while looking at this face and this chubby body of mine."

"Host, you shouldn’t sell yourself short," the System countered. "They aren’t ordinary males. They spend day and night with you, and you are vastly different from the original owner of this body. They see your changes clearly. Both of them have already admitted that you aren’t the original owner. So, they aren’t looking at your outward appearance; they are looking at your inner soul."

"Actually, I never expected them to figure it out so quickly," Qiao Suluo mused. "Did Tushan Feishang and the others not notice?"

"They were sold off by the original owner a long time ago," the System explained. "Without any prolonged contact, they naturally wouldn’t be able to tell. However, Host, you must never bring this up proactively. When they harbor no affection for you and only feel hatred and disgust, telling them the truth would likely prompt them to kill you on the spot. That would be detrimental to the mission."

Qiao Suluo’s expression shifted slightly. "I know. Winning over Que Hongjin and Bai Qianluo was easy, but capturing the hearts of Tushan Feishang and the others will be a long and arduous journey. The mission is fraught with hidden dangers. Thankfully, I have Que Hongjin and Bai Qianluo by my side. But what do I do about this situation? How can I get them to get along harmoniously like before?"

Qiao Suluo remembered that Que Hongjin and Bai Qianluo used to be quite amicable, even helping each other out.

The System felt a touch of helplessness, though it didn’t blame its Host. In matters of romance, she was incredibly innocent and lacked any real experience.

It patiently explained, "Host, in the past, they thoroughly despised this body of yours, so they bonded over their shared misery. But now that they have feelings for you, everything is different. You just need to learn how to balance the scales perfectly. Become a master peacekeeper."

Qiao Suluo was thoroughly bewildered. "But I... I don’t know how!"

Who was going to teach her?

The System understood her plight. Its Host had grown up in a technological era, indoctrinated with modern ideologies. She had little grasp of how females in the Beast World survived or managed relationships with multiple Beast Husbands. Moreover, most females in ordinary villages only married one Beast Husband; only those with prominent family backgrounds and status took multiple.

"Host, you have to learn how to balance their relationships," the System advised. "This is only two of them. Once you win over Tushan Feishang and the rest, having more Beast Husbands will make maintaining that balance even more critical. Otherwise, they’ll be fighting every single day. Those three don’t have good tempers like Que Hongjin and Bai Qianluo. Still, after a period of adjustment, Bai Qianluo and Que Hongjin will likely come to accept each other’s existence."

While Qiao Suluo was busy conversing with the System, Que Hongjin and Bai Qianluo were practically at each other’s throats.

"Bai Qianluo, do you even know what you’re doing?" Que Hongjin demanded.

Bai Qianluo’s gaze remained calm and earnest. In that moment, he felt a profound sense of gratitude. "Of course I do. If wife doesn’t despise my broken body, I can accompany her every night. Whatever wife wants, I will give it to her."

Hearing these words, Qiao Suluo’s face flushed crimson.

Que Hongjin felt a searing, acidic ache in his chest. At the thought of his wife undergoing a Contract with Bai Qianluo, his rational mind could justify it, but his emotions flat-out refused to accept it. A sharp pain pierced his heart. "Don’t even think about it," he snarled.

Bai Qianluo merely stated the facts with cool detachment. "Que Hongjin, this isn’t something you can decide. I am wife’s Beast Husband. Sooner or later, she will form a Contract with me."

He had emphasized this point before, but Que Hongjin seemed entirely unwilling to accept it. Yet, Bai Qianluo was dealing with his own surging tide of jealousy. He was already one step behind Que Hongjin, and he refused to fall any further behind. If his wife took more Beast Husbands in the future, where would that leave him?

All traces of Que Hongjin’s gentle demeanor vanished. He unleashed a forceful, oppressive pressure, driven by a primal male’s territorial instincts. "Bai Qianluo, if you want a Contract, you still need wife’s consent."

Bai Qianluo turned his attention to Qiao Suluo. The moment he faced her, his entire aura softened into a tranquil calm. His features overflowed with an inseparable mix of deep affection and tenderness.

"Wife... may I?"

As he spoke, his expression and tone were steeped in a melancholic vulnerability, as though he were utterly terrified of being rejected and abandoned.
