Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Cherish

In Qin Siyan’s eyes, Qiao Suluo had spent all her Silver and was now back to sell these two Beast Husbands.

She hadn’t been around earlier, leaving the Steward to manage the auction house’s affairs. It was only after learning about Chu Moyuan’s combat strength that she realized what had happened. She found out a female beast had sold her own Beast Husband. At the time, Qiao Suluo had gone to a restaurant to stuff herself. Qin Siyan happened to be dining there as well, and the Steward pointed her out, which was how she came to know of Qiao Suluo.

She hadn’t expected Qiao Suluo to have slimmed down a little after not seeing her for this period, though she was still fat and ugly.

Hmph!

Qin Siyan retracted her whip, crossed her arms, and looked at Qiao Suluo with contempt. She seemed to be waiting for Qiao Suluo to offer up her Beast Husbands for sale.

Qiao Suluo looked coldly at Qin Siyan. "These are my Beast Husbands. I will never sell them."

"HAHA!" Qin Siyan suddenly burst into loud laughter, as if she had just heard the greatest joke. "Qiao Suluo, no one would believe you when you say something like that.

"If I remember correctly, Chu Moyuan is the Beast Husband you sold. You sold him for sixty taels of Silver. What a steep price you demanded.

"At a normal price, a few taels of Silver would be enough to buy a male with combat strength. Yet you sold him for sixty taels of Silver. You truly are greedy for wealth."

Qiao Suluo’s expression shifted. This was something the original owner of her body had done, but it was ultimately connected to her current body, so she couldn’t wash her hands of it.

Qin Siyan raised an eyebrow and looked at Que Hongjin and Bai Qianluo. "A female like this isn’t fit to be your wife. Who knows when she might sell you? You’d be better off finding a way to sever ties with her as early as possible."

A dark glint flashed across Que Hongjin’s eyes. "There’s no need for Miss Qin to worry. My wife is wonderful, and we will never sever our ties."

Bai Qianluo’s clear, cold voice carried a hidden layer of indifferent disgust. "How could a sparrow understand the ambitions of a swan? It turns out Miss Qin enjoys meddling in others’ business."

His words carried heavy sarcasm, directly mocking Qin Siyan for unwarrantedly interfering in and judging their affairs, and for overstepping her bounds into another family’s matters.

"You have a death wish!" As a female of the Qin Family, Qin Siyan was used to being endlessly flattered. There were even rumors that the Qin Family would eventually be handed over to her, prompting people to fawn over her madly. This was the first time she had been publicly disrespected.

"How dare you! How dare you speak to me like that!" CRACK! Furious, Qin Siyan violently whipped the ground and was about to attack.

The Steward beside her hurriedly stopped her. "Miss, do not forget what the Family Head said. The Family Head repeatedly ordered us not to cause trouble recently. Word has it that a mysterious noble is currently in our Nanhe County.

"Furthermore, Miss, if you make a mistake at this critical juncture and allow the eldest young master’s faction to find fault with you, the position of the Family Head might change hands."

The reason a Steward accompanied Qin Siyan whenever she went out was because Patriarch Qin worried her explosive temper would cause trouble, so he had assigned someone to keep her in check.

Qin Siyan’s expression shifted several times upon hearing this. She lowered her voice and gritted her teeth in hatred. "That sickly invalid still dares to compete with me? Who knows when he might just drop dead."

Qin Siyan thought she was speaking to the Steward in a very low voice, but Qiao Suluo had a system. The system relayed their conversation to her.

"Is the eldest young master of the Qin Family enemies with Qin Siyan?" she asked inwardly.

The system explained, "They shouldn’t share the same father."

Qiao Suluo understood. "I’ll need to investigate this later," she thought. If this Miss Qin dared to trip her up, she would use her enemies’ strength against her, or borrow another’s knife to do the dirty work.

As for redeeming Chu Moyuan, that would have to wait until he returned.

Qin Siyan whipped the ground fiercely a few more times, seemingly trying to intimidate them on purpose. "Consider yourselves lucky. I have business to attend to today and can’t be bothered with you.

"You aren’t welcome here anyway, so get lost."

How could Que Hongjin and Bai Qianluo allow Qiao Suluo to suffer such indignity? Bai Qianluo was just about to shoot back a sarcastic retort when Qiao Suluo took their hands. "Let’s go. We’ll leave for now."

There was no need to waste time here with Qin Siyan over a few words. However, she had her ways of dealing with Qin Siyan. For instance, she could first investigate the eldest young master of the Qin Family. Even if he was a sickly invalid, she possessed a Healing Ability and could cure illnesses.

As the old saying went: the enemy of an enemy is a friend. But who was the mysterious noble they had mentioned? Perhaps it was someone of very high status and rank, not someone she could easily approach or latch onto.

After walking out of the underground auction house area, both Que Hongjin and Bai Qianluo wore grim expressions.

Qiao Suluo looked at them. "What’s wrong? Why do you both look so grim? Are you feeling unwell?"

Que Hongjin gently stroked Qiao Suluo’s hair. "I’m sorry, wife. We let you suffer indignity, and we didn’t seek justice for you." Beside him, Bai Qianluo also looked full of self-blame.

Qiao Suluo shook her head. "It’s fine. I don’t feel slighted at all.

"She only said a few words, and you fired back at her for me.

"Besides, a few words can’t hurt me. Let’s not be angry. It’s not worth letting someone else’s mistakes ruin our mood."

After Qiao Suluo consoled them, Que Hongjin and Bai Qianluo’s expressions finally softened. At this moment, a single thought echoed in both their minds: they urgently wanted to restore their former strength and abilities. Only then could they better protect their wife and prevent her from suffering even the slightest indignity. Whatever other females had, they wanted her to have as well. And whatever other females didn’t have, they wanted to give to her anyway. In the past, they had only wanted revenge. But now, they had someone in their hearts whom they cherished and wanted to protect.

Seeing that they looked better, Qiao Suluo didn’t dwell on the matter. She said, "Let’s first find someone to help us set up a stall. We need to build a stove and make some tables and chairs."

Setting up a stall in that large area against the wall by the entrance of the Drunken Immortal Tower was essentially like the Drunken Immortal Tower opening a side window to sell things. Since the Drunken Immortal Tower’s business was booming, she wouldn’t have to worry about foot traffic.

Thinking of this, Qiao Suluo asked, "By the way, Hong Jin, do you know who does the best carpentry work around our village?"

Que Hongjin looked at her with smiling eyes and gently tidied her messy hair. He said softly, "Did you forget that Father is the best at carpentry?

"Father is actually the most skilled carpenter in all the neighboring villages."

It was precisely because of his carpentry skills that the Qiao family enjoyed slightly better living conditions and didn’t have to go hungry. Even so, the past Qiao Suluo had utterly despised parents like them. However, Que Hongjin knew that his current wife would not.

Qiao Suluo’s expression shifted. "My father?"

She had almost forgotten that her father knew how to do these things. Since transmigrating here, she hadn’t even met this body’s father yet.

"Alright then. Let’s go home first, and I’ll go ask my parents about it."

"Okay."

They quickly returned to the village. After Qiao Suluo made lunch, she packed some food and headed to her parents’ house.

Just as she arrived at the door, she heard what sounded like an argument coming from inside.

"My oldest brother is terribly sick, and his wife won’t even call a doctor! She won’t let us see him either! Does she want my oldest brother to die silently in her house?"

Hearing this, Qiao Suluo’s expression changed. Had something happened to her oldest brother?
