Chapter 59: Chapter 59: Foundation

Hearing about business matters, Qiao Suluo automatically ignored Yue Hanzheng.

She looked at Bai Qianluo. "Come on, let’s go outside and take a look."

"Alright," Bai Qianluo said softly.

Qiao Suluo walked out quickly, but Bai Qianluo didn’t move. He turned to look at Yue Hanzheng. His expression turned cold and detached once more, as if his previous gentle and radiant demeanor had been an illusion.

"Are you going back with us, Yue?" he asked flatly.

Yue Hanzheng replied instinctively, "How could I? Now that I’ve regained my freedom, I won’t go back."

Even if Qiao Suluo truly possessed medical skill, he would never return.

Bai Qianluo nodded. A flicker of emotion passed through his eyes, and he seemed to find Yue Hanzheng a bit more pleasing to the eye. Selfishly, he actually didn’t want Yue Hanzheng to go back and compete with them for their wife. Since Yue Hanzheng was unwilling to return, he could rest easy.

Seeing Bai Qianluo act like this, Yue Hanzheng found it strange. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Bai Qianluo’s voice grew even lower and richer, carrying a seemingly profound meaning. "It’s nothing. I just hope you remember what you said, Yue. A true gentleman always keeps his word."

Yue Hanzheng narrowed his eyes, his cold and sharp features laced with suspicion and wariness. "What do you mean by that?"

Bai Qianluo sighed softly. "Nothing. I just hope you don’t regret what you said today, Yue."

"Hah?" Yue Hanzheng acted as if he had heard the funniest joke in the world. "Regret? You’re saying I’ll regret it? What kind of person do you take me for? I can’t wait to stay as far away from that female beast as possible. If it weren’t for my injured leg, I would have put miles between us already."

Pausing for a moment, Yue Hanzheng realized something and furrowed his brows. "Bai Qianluo, no way. Don’t tell me you’ve actually developed feelings for that fat hag. She’s fat and ugly."

A cold glint flashed across Bai Qianluo’s detached eyes. "Watch your mouth, Yue."

Yue Hanzheng immediately sensed something. "Murderous intent? Hah, I just said a few words and you’re already upset. You really do have feelings for her. And she even claimed your eyes were healed! If you ask me, she ruined your eyes completely if you can look at her like that and think she’s fine."

At this moment, Yue Hanzheng grew increasingly convinced that Qiao Suluo had used some bizarre method to bewitch Bai Qianluo.

"Bai Qianluo, you absolutely cannot let her deceive you. That female beast is full of tricks. Who knows what kind of Charm Technique she used on you? You have to stay calm and rational. I’m saying this for your own good. We’re in the same boat, after all..."

Yue Hanzheng felt genuinely anxious for Bai Qianluo. The thought of Bai Qianluo being like a beautiful flower stuck in cow dung filled him with righteous indignation.

As expected, Qiao Suluo hadn’t changed for the better. She definitely used some strange trick to make them willingly serve her; that was why she was speaking to them so nicely. He knew something felt inexplicably weird about all this.

He had to figure out a way to get out of here quickly. He couldn’t afford to have any more contact with Qiao Suluo. As for her claims about having medical skill to heal him, those couldn’t be trusted either. Who knew if it was actually some kind of dark magic?

Bai Qianluo interrupted Yue Hanzheng coldly. "I am not like you, Yue. Don’t judge what you don’t understand. Furthermore, I don’t want to hear you badmouth my wife. Take care of yourself from now on, Yue."

With that, Bai Qianluo turned and left.

Yue Hanzheng clutched his head. "It’s over, it’s all over. Bai Qianluo has completely lost his mind. That female beast is fat and ugly. His eyes must really be broken for him to think she’s wonderful. Someone, come here! Doctor Chen..."

He couldn’t stay any longer. He had to leave this place immediately.

Meanwhile, at the clinic.

Naturally, Qiao Suluo was unaware of this little episode. By the time she reached the doorway, the tofu had already sold out, and only one bottle of Peach Blossom Brew remained.

Que Hongjin explained, "Because we prepared bamboo tubes for people to have a free taste, most of those who tried it ended up buying a bottle. So the Peach Blossom Brew sold quite well. This is the last one."

A smile blossomed on Qiao Suluo’s face upon hearing this. It seemed that she could venture into the floral brew business in the future. She wouldn’t just make Peach Blossom Brew, but other fruit and floral wines as well.

When the waiter, Niu Zhu, saw Qiao Suluo, he greeted her with immense enthusiasm. "Miss Qiao, our shopkeeper said that inviting you to discuss business must have interrupted your stall operations, so he offered to buy everything you were selling. He even specifically arranged for me to drive a carriage to take you all to Drunken Immortal Tower."

In truth, Manager Zhao had been anxiously trying to find Miss Qiao to discuss business over the past few days. Who would have thought that because of the rain, she wouldn’t show up?

If it hadn’t been for someone walking past the restaurant with her tofu—which the shopkeeper happened to spot and immediately sent him to investigate—they never would have known that Miss Qiao had set up her stall near the clinic. The shopkeeper was currently hosting the Young Master, so he couldn’t come in person and had to send Niu Zhu to fetch them.

Of course, Niu Zhu was no longer an ordinary waiter. The shopkeeper had raised his wages and put him in charge of two newly hired busboys. Therefore, words couldn’t describe how grateful Niu Zhu was to Qiao Suluo, treating her with the utmost respect and politeness. After all, the shopkeeper had said that Miss Qiao’s aura, conversational skills, and capabilities were far beyond those of an ordinary person.

Since Qiao Suluo needed Silver right now, she naturally didn’t feign coyness. She nodded and said, "Alright, let’s head to Drunken Immortal Tower now."

A short while later, at Drunken Immortal Tower.

After Qiao Suluo, Bai Qianluo, and Que Hongjin arrived at the restaurant, the shopkeeper personally came downstairs to welcome them.

"Miss Qiao, I finally get to see you." Manager Zhao was incredibly enthusiastic upon seeing Qiao Suluo, his face beaming with a wide smile.

Looking at him, Qiao Suluo said, "Manager Zhao, I heard the restaurant’s business has been booming lately. Congratulations."

Manager Zhao’s eyes crinkled into slits from smiling so broadly. "That’s all thanks to you, Miss Qiao. Your Konjac is truly a remarkable item. To be honest with you, we used the seasoning method you provided for the Konjac in our other dishes, and they turned out just as delicious. That’s why business has improved so much."

Hearing Manager Zhao speak so candidly, Qiao Suluo nodded inwardly. It showed that he was an honest man, someone she could do business with. "It’s still thanks to your excellent management of the restaurant, Manager Zhao."

After exchanging pleasantries for a while, Manager Zhao personally led Qiao Suluo and the others up to the second floor.

"Miss Qiao, our Young Master happens to be here today. He wishes to discuss business with you in person. What do you think?" Manager Zhao asked. "If you negotiate with the Young Master, he can make the final call on many things directly. If it were just me, I would still have to seek his approval for major decisions."

Qiao Suluo’s expression shifted slightly as she wondered if he meant the Young Master of Drunken Immortal Tower. There were several branches of Drunken Immortal Tower in the Capital City, all with booming business. She couldn’t help but wonder why the Young Master of the Zhao family would come to a small county town like this.

Although she harbored doubts in her heart, Qiao Suluo didn’t let them show on her face. She nodded. "That sounds fine."

Bai Qianluo and Que Hongjin’s expressions turned serious as they followed Qiao Suluo into the private room on the second floor.

Upon entering, Qiao Suluo saw a man wearing a bamboo hat seated by the window. His figure was as tall and slender as bamboo, and his posture exuded a noble and elegant grace. A black robe clung to his lean waist, featuring flowing, dark patterns near the hem—likely the exclusive totem of the Zhao family.

He radiated a calm and composed aura, born from deep-rooted heritage. It was clear enough that the Zhao family’s foundation was far beyond that of an ordinary noble family.
