Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Awakened Ability

Que Hongjin watched her reaction, sighing helplessly inwardly. As he gazed at her, his eyes were filled with tender affection, so gentle they could melt into water. He lowered his head, pressing his lips against her eyes. Right now, her eyes were shimmering with moisture, clear and serene like autumn skies. She looked incredibly enchanting and deeply moving. He absolutely adored her like this—it wasn’t a side of her he got to see every day.

Furthermore, during the Contract, all of her reactions were so innocent and pure. She carried a faint, sweet fragrance that was his absolute favorite scent, rendering him unable and unwilling to resist. He lowered his head again, his lips brushing against her ear as he spoke in a hoarse voice, "It doesn’t matter if you don’t know, Wife. Now, I will use the most direct method of us Beastmen to let you know exactly how much I love you."

He felt that she might not believe mere words, but he would prove it with his actions.

Bathed in the moonlight, the silhouettes inside the room flickered, as ethereal as a dream. It was as if, under the witness of the moon, a deeply passionate and tender symphony of love was being composed.

By the time the sky began to lighten, Qiao Suluo was practically dead on her feet from exhaustion.

"I’m sleepy." The moment she spoke, Qiao Suluo realized her voice was unbearably hoarse. She wondered why she was so exhausted while Que Hongjin looked utterly radiant and full of energy, showing not a hint of fatigue.

Que Hongjin felt as though all the suppressed emotions in his body had been transmitted to her through this method. Even though dawn was approaching, he still couldn’t bear to let her go. However, upon seeing the marks on her body—marks that he had left—the corners of his eyes grew even redder. Restraining himself, he murmured in her ear, "Does Wife know that I love you now?"

Qiao Suluo’s eyelashes fluttered wildly as she replied in a soft, delicate voice, "I know."

She certainly didn’t dare say she didn’t know. If she claimed ignorance, Que Hongjin absolutely wouldn’t let her go. She never expected that someone so typically gentle could be so clingy and relentless at a time like this. She truly couldn’t even keep her eyes open anymore.

Que Hongjin gently wiped the beads of sweat from her face. He found himself adoring even the light layer of perspiration on her skin, which carried her unique natural scent. Moreover, at the height of their passion, within his Spiritual Sea, his spirit body had entangled itself with her soul, reluctant to ever let go. He marveled at how intoxicating the sensation of the Contract truly was.

Que Hongjin said gently, "Be good and go to sleep. I won’t bother you anymore."

Hearing these words, Qiao Suluo finally breathed a sigh of relief. She closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep. But a short while later, feeling Que Hongjin moving around, she suddenly opened her eyes, only to find that he had dampened a towel and was cleaning her. His movements were so gentle, every action incredibly elegant, as if he were attending to a matter of utmost importance.

Her face flushed even redder. "You must be tired too. You should go to sleep as well, there’s no need for this."

Que Hongjin had now returned to his usual refined and noble demeanor. His breathtakingly beautiful eyes were filled with lingering, tender affection as he replied softly, "Go to sleep, Wife. I’m not tired. It’ll just take a moment." He knew she was quite particular about cleanliness, so he wanted to wash her up properly so she could get a good rest.

Looking at Que Hongjin like this, Qiao Suluo couldn’t help but feel a swell of emotion in her heart. She was genuinely moved; it was as if the tightly shut doors to her heart had been forced open by him. She patted the side of the bed. "Join me."

"Alright."

After Que Hongjin finished wiping them both down, he climbed back into bed and pulled her into his arms. He let her find a comfortable position before pulling the covers up over them both. "Go to sleep."

Only then did Qiao Suluo close her eyes and peacefully drift off to sleep.

However, as she fell into a deep slumber, she didn’t notice the faint white light surging around her body. It was as though trace amounts of Spiritual Energy in the air were flowing toward her. As this subtle white light seeped into her, her sallow skin seemed to lighten significantly, taking on a healthy luster.

Holding Qiao Suluo, Que Hongjin hadn’t gone to sleep. His pupils took on a faint emerald green sheen, allowing him to clearly see these changes taking place. Waves of shock crashed through his heart, and more and more questions surfaced in his mind. But looking at the serene figure sleeping soundly in his arms, he naturally couldn’t bear to wake her.

By the time Qiao Suluo woke up again, it was already mid-morning, and sunlight was streaming through the window lattice onto the bed. Waking up bathed in the sunlight, she felt incredibly languid. It wasn’t until she fully opened her eyes and took in her surroundings that she regained her bearings, realizing she was in Que Hongjin’s room and remembering that the two of them had truly completed the Contract last night.

Que Hongjin was no longer in the room. She hadn’t expected to sleep for so long—and so deeply, at that. Lying snug under the covers, she felt so delightfully lazy that she didn’t want to get up. Strangely enough, she had slept incredibly soundly and peacefully. It was the most restful sleep she’d had since transmigrating over; she hadn’t woken up a single time in the middle of the night. It seemed that being held in Que Hongjin’s embrace provided her with a profound sense of security.

Right at that moment, the System spoke up. "Host, you’re awake."

Hearing the voice echo in her mind, Qiao Suluo finally sat up. "Yeah, I’m awake. You said I’d receive the Divine Doctor inheritance, but why don’t I feel anything?"

"Host, close your eyes and carefully sense the aura around you," the System replied. "Think closely about what you dreamed of last night."

Qiao Suluo did as the System instructed, closing her eyes to feel the surrounding aura. Falling into an almost meditative state, everything that had occurred in her dreams last night suddenly came rushing back to her. It was as if a massive deluge of memories regarding the Divine Doctor’s Medical Skills had flooded into her mind, making it feel as though she had personally apprenticed under the Divine Doctor and learned every last one of their abilities. In her consciousness, it seemed an Alchemy Pill Furnace had also appeared.

With a shift in thought, Qiao Suluo opened her eyes and uncurled her hand, finding a faint Pill Furnace mark on her palm. "Is this the Alchemy Pill Furnace?"

"This Pill Furnace can help the Host absorb the medicinal properties of herbs and convert them into the Healing Ability," the System explained. "Then, the Host can use the Healing Ability to treat Que Hongjin and the others’ injuries."

Based on the inherited memories she received last night, Qiao Suluo naturally understood what this Pill Furnace mark signified. Staring at her hand, she found that she could summon the mark at will with a mere thought, and just as easily hide it from sight.

Qiao Suluo felt a surge of excitement. "I can’t believe completing the Contract actually granted me the Divine Doctor inheritance abilities."

"Therefore, Host, everything I said was the truth," the System stated. "You are my Host; I would never lie to you."

Overjoyed, Qiao Suluo said, "Thank you, System. Now I know how to heal Que Hongjin and the others’ injuries." The mere thought of being able to cure them and completely heal their wounds filled her with uncontainable excitement.

Just then, Que Hongjin opened the door and walked into the room. Seeing that Qiao Suluo was awake, a lingering, tender warmth flooded his eyes. "Is Wife awake? Do you not need to sleep a little longer?"

He hadn’t restrained himself last night, completely exhausting her. Looking at the marks on her neck now, he felt a pang of self-reproach; her skin was simply too delicate. He was genuinely worried that she hadn’t rested enough.

Qiao Suluo’s eyes were bright as she looked at him. "I’m not sleepy anymore. Hold out your hand first; let me take a look at you."

It was strange, but after waking up, she felt incredibly refreshed and clear-headed. Her body felt light, comfortable, and brimming with strength. Because of this, she wanted to examine Que Hongjin’s condition immediately so she could heal his injuries as soon as possible. She also wanted to make his wings grow back.
