Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Always Waiting for Her

Que Hongjin looked at her, still feeling a bit uneasy. He handed the reins to Bai Qianluo and followed her off the ox cart.

Hearing Qiao Suluo affectionately call out to Hong Jin, Bai Qianluo pressed his pale lips into a cold, hard line. His thoughts became uncontrollably turbulent. Gripping the reins, his fingers tightened subconsciously. Listening to their voices, he could distinctly feel that Qiao Suluo and Que Hongjin had grown much closer.

He wondered, "What happened in Que Hongjin’s room yesterday? Ever since last night, the wife seems to treat him differently. Was it also a mental soothing?"

Realizing this possibility, an indescribable stifling sensation surged in Bai Qianluo’s chest. He slowly removed the white cloth from his eyes, allowing them to be exposed to the sunlight. Though the harsh light stung painfully, he forced himself to look in Qiao Suluo’s direction. He simply watched her quietly, as if trying to engrave her image into his mind. Oh, how he wished he could clearly see her features and read her expressions.

Meanwhile, Qiao Suluo’s entire focus was on the herbs. She realized that earning points meant she could finally lose more weight.

The vegetation here was incredibly tall, some of it reaching her knees. If the system hadn’t alerted her, she never would have noticed the medicinal herbs hidden within. She gently parted the tall grass and, sure enough, found a medicinal plant.

Que Hongjin stepped forward and asked softly, "What is the wife trying to pick? Let me do it."

Ever since they had opened up to each other the previous day, Qiao Suluo felt a greater sense of trust and closeness toward him. As for Que Hongjin, he was eager to do absolutely everything for her.

Qiao Suluo shook her head. "It’s fine. You don’t know how to harvest herbs, so I’ll do it myself."

With her eyes sparkling with excitement, she carefully cleared the dirt and slowly dug the herb out. She wrapped it delicately in oiled paper and tucked it into her sleeve. In reality, she used her sleeve as cover to place the herb into the Space Mall. Using her Divine Sense, she then selected the option to sell it.

"DING! Three thousand points have been credited to your account," the system announced.

Qiao Suluo desperately wanted to spend the points on weight loss medicine, but thinking of Yue Hanzheng’s condition, she held back. "System, are there any elixirs in the Space Mall that can cure Yue Hanzheng?" she asked. "Or perhaps a Detoxification Elixir?"

"Host, Yue Hanzheng’s condition is severe and complex," the system replied. "His body contains multiple lethal, highly toxic substances. A Detoxification Pill will be useless.

"The reason a Detoxification Pill worked for you, Host, is because the toxins in your body were chronic and relatively minor, allowing them to be completely purged.

"Therefore, if you want to heal your Beast Husbands’ bodies, you can only do so by awakening your own Medical Skill."

Hearing this, Qiao Suluo felt helpless. It seemed she couldn’t rely on the elixirs from the Space Mall after all. She would have to depend entirely on her own Medical Skill. It made sense. The injuries sustained by Yue Hanzheng, Que Hongjin, and the others were far from ordinary. Rumor had it that back in the Capital City, countless Imperial Physicians and Divine Doctors had diagnosed their conditions as incurable, which was exactly why they had been abandoned.

"Then I’ll exchange for a thirty-pound dose of weight loss medicine," she instructed the system.

Using the three thousand points, Qiao Suluo redeemed the weight loss medicine. However, it wasn’t convenient to take it at the moment, so she decided to wait until nightfall. She sincerely hoped to slim down as quickly as possible.

After everyone returned to the ox cart, they drove it straight to Hundred Herbs Hall, the most famous clinic in town.

The clinic’s most renowned physician was Doctor Chen. Upon examining Yue Hanzheng’s body, a look of sheer shock washed over the doctor’s face.

Watching from the side, Qiao Suluo couldn’t help but ask, "Doctor Chen, how is he?"

Doctor Chen remained silent, his expression only growing more solemn. He carefully took Yue Hanzheng’s pulse one more time before finally speaking. "This is truly a miracle."

"What do you mean?"

"His body is riddled with so many potent poisons that he should already be a dead man," Doctor Chen marveled. "Yet, not only is he still alive, but his life force remains. It is absolutely miraculous.

"Have you given him any special medicine or hired a Divine Doctor to treat him?

"He must have consumed a life-saving drug to maintain this vitality."

At these words, a profound, shimmering gleam flashed through Que Hongjin’s eyes as he looked down at Qiao Suluo. He knew that the wife had given Yue Hanzheng an elixir to save his life. Although Bai Qianluo had been blindfolded and couldn’t see clearly earlier, he also deduced that it must have been the wife who saved Yue Hanzheng’s life.

Naturally, Qiao Suluo had no intention of admitting that she had fed Yue Hanzheng a panacea. She feared it would only invite unnecessary trouble.

Instead, she said, "Doctor Chen, I’m honestly not sure what happened. I just want to know how he’s doing. Will he be alright?"

Stroking his beard, Doctor Chen replied, "He’ll be fine. He isn’t in immediate mortal danger. As long as we focus on detoxifying him and carefully nursing his body back to health, he will survive.

"As for how long he can live, that entirely depends on the toxins remaining in his system.

"However, his legs have sustained devastating injuries and are completely crippled. Since so much time has passed, they are long past the point of being cured. It is truly a pity."

Doctor Chen shook his head sadly as he spoke.

Hearing that Yue Hanzheng wasn’t in immediate mortal danger, Qiao Suluo breathed a sigh of relief. As for the lingering poisons and his crippled legs, she wasn’t particularly worried. Once she inherited the legacy of a Divine Doctor, she would have a way to cure him completely. Her only real concern just now was whether he could survive at all.

Steadying her nerves, Qiao Suluo said, "Then I must trouble you to prescribe some medicine, Doctor Chen. Anything that benefits his body will do."

Doctor Chen nodded. "Alright. I will prescribe some medicine to neutralize the basic toxins first.

"Drinking the medicine on time will help him recover sooner.

"However, it would be best if he stayed here at the clinic. It will make it easier for me to observe and treat him."

Qiao Suluo originally wanted to take Yue Hanzheng home, but they were short on rooms, leaving nowhere for him to stay. If she took him back, she couldn’t stay up all night caring for him, and she certainly couldn’t force Que Hongjin and Bai Qianluo to do it, as they were both patients themselves.

Settling Yue Hanzheng here was indeed the most convenient option. She agreed to the arrangement and promptly paid the consultation fees, medicine costs, and a deposit to ensure Hundred Herbs Hall would take good care of him. She trusted Hundred Herbs Hall because it was widely praised by the public. Furthermore, Doctor Chen was a highly reputable physician who had dedicated his life to healing the sick and saving lives.

Later that evening, Qiao Suluo returned home with Que Hongjin and Bai Qianluo. After dinner, she retired to her room early. She took the thirty-pound dose of weight loss medicine, and her body instantly shed thirty pounds.

She now weighed one hundred and fifty pounds. At this weight, she no longer looked overtly obese. After taking a bath, she dressed herself but remained seated motionless at the table.

The system urged her, "Host, you will have to form a Contract with your Beast Husbands sooner or later. The sooner you form a Contract, the sooner you can heal their bodies.

"Don’t forget that Yue Hanzheng’s fate is still uncertain."

Taking a deep breath at the system’s words, Qiao Suluo walked over to Que Hongjin’s room. She reached out to knock, but her hand timidly shrank back. When it actually came down to the critical moment, she found herself losing her nerve. After all, she had absolutely no experience with this sort of thing.

But just as she was about to turn around and leave, Que Hongjin’s door opened from the inside with a CREAK.

When Que Hongjin saw Qiao Suluo, his picturesque pupils slightly contracted. She had lost so much weight all at once. A dark flicker of astonishment passed through his eyes. The surging obsidian depths of his gaze seemed to be shattered by the moonlight, melting into ripples as gentle as spring water.

At that moment, Qiao Suluo noticed that Que Hongjin’s long, dark hair cascaded loosely behind him, damp with moisture. His clothes hung loosely upon his frame, exposing a sensual chest still dotted with undried water droplets. It seemed he had just finished bathing as well, radiating an air of ultimate temptation.

Seeing her look as though she wanted to retreat, Que Hongjin leaned closer. He lowered his head and murmured seductively, "I have been waiting for the wife. So, has the wife made up her mind?"
