Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Light in the Darkness

Qiao Suluo felt her curiosity rising. For some unknown reason, a man with a perfect figure was lying by the canyon road in the rain. He looked like someone of noble status, and his appearance was probably stunning as well. She wondered who he was, what his background was, and exactly what he looked like. Was he unconscious, or was he already dead? In truth, she was incredibly curious.

However, she suppressed her curiosity, repeatedly muttering to herself to hypnotize her mind. She didn’t want to invite trouble right after transmigrating.

Little did she know, the unconscious man had let out a muffled groan because she had accidentally stepped right on his wound. He slowly opened his narrow, bewitchingly charming eyes, and his gaze landed perfectly on Qiao Suluo. He also heard her incessant muttering. He found her to be a strange and fat female beast, and the words she was muttering were quite peculiar.

Just as Qiao Suluo painstakingly hobbled back a few steps, the system spoke up. "Host, if you save him, there will be a reward. The Space Mall will automatically reward you with a Detoxification Pill, which can neutralize one-third of the toxins in your body."

Qiao Suluo’s eyes lit up. The Detoxification Elixir in her space cost more points than the Weight Loss Pill.

"One-third? That’s great," she said. Naturally, she also cared about her appearance and didn’t want her skin to look so dark and terrible. Besides, she had observed herself in the water vat earlier; this body actually had a great foundation. It was just fat and dark. Once the toxins were cleared and she lost weight, she would become beautiful.

"Is he still alive? Who is he?" she asked.

The system replied, "I don’t know that either. I can only detect a very powerful aura from him. He should be very important to this Beast World Continent, so he cannot die."

Qiao Suluo nodded. "Understood. Some crucial big shots can’t die. But what kind of injuries did he suffer, and how should I save him?"

"He suffered severe internal injuries and almost breathed his last," the system explained. "There’s a bottle in your medicine chest containing a few Life-saving Pills. Feeding him just one will save his life."

Qiao Suluo thought this was simple enough. When she went up the mountain earlier, she had stored the medicine chest in the Space Mall.

Cang Jiuxuan simply watched her as she babbled at thin air, having no idea what she was talking about. He only felt that she was even more bizarre than he was. Looking up at the rainy sky, he revealed a faint, indifferent smile of self-mockery. Was he really going to die here after all?

Just then, the bizarre female beast slowly walked over, leaning on a wooden stick. Cang Jiuxuan closed his eyes.

Qiao Suluo naturally didn’t know any of this. Braving the drizzle, she crouched beside the man in red. Only then did she notice the heavy stench of blood coming from him. His clothes were stained with blood, revealing numerous wounds. Because he was wearing red, she actually hadn’t noticed it earlier.

Retrieving a bottle from her medicine chest, she found it contained hemostatic powder. She sprinkled the entire bottle of medicine over the wounds on his body. The medicine was quite effective and managed to stop the bleeding.

"I don’t care if you’re a Beastman or a ghost. I saved you, so I’m your savior," Qiao Suluo muttered to herself, not caring whether he could hear her. "I don’t ask for you to repay the favor, just don’t come causing me trouble. I didn’t touch your body, either; I sprinkled the medicine from a distance."

She was a female beastman, and male beastmen on the Beast World Continent valued their chastity. What if he was conscious and wanted to kill her? With her current fat and dark body, there was no way he would offer himself to her in marriage; he would only want her dead.

After applying the powder, she stuffed the Life-saving Medicine into his mouth. "This is a Life-saving Pill. Once you swallow it, your life won’t be in danger."

Communicating with the system through her mind, she asked, "He’s fine now, right?"

"His life is no longer in danger," the system confirmed.

"Then I can go home now, right?"

The system was left speechless. "He is a stunningly beautiful man. Host, aren’t you going to take him back and take care of him?" Shouldn’t one see things through when saving someone? Did its host really operate like this? "If you leave like this, Host, he won’t even know you saved him when he wakes up."

"It doesn’t matter. I don’t want to invite trouble," Qiao Suluo replied indifferently. "I only saved him for the Detoxification Pill."

As long as she got paid, that was all that mattered.

Having finished her task, she took another bottle of medicine from the chest and rubbed it on her foot. However, she had a fracture, so applying the medicine only alleviated the pain; it didn’t solve the real issue. She could only lean on her wooden stick, inching her way outward.

To his astonishment, Cang Jiuxuan felt the changes in his body, sensing a surge of vitality flowing within him. He knew he was going to survive. Profound shock filled his heart as a deep gleam flashed through his narrow, bewitchingly charming eyes. However, his expression turned unreadable as he watched the fat figure disappear into the rainy mist.

Was he hallucinating because of his severe injuries? An Immortal Beastman? But why was she so fat and dark? She had absolutely nothing to do with beauty.

Oblivious to all this, Qiao Suluo continued trudging through the rain. She never expected that she would accidentally wander so far just to find medicinal herbs. It would have been fine if her foot wasn’t fractured, but now that she was injured, she had no idea when she would make it home at this pace.

"System, do you think Que Hongjin and Bai Qianluo are wishing I’d die in the mountains so they can be free?" she mused. "They despise me so much. Given the terrible things the original owner of this body did, it’s really hard on them to remain my Beast Husbands."

The system comforted her, "Host, don’t sell yourself short. You are so wonderful; they will definitely notice your good qualities."

Qiao Suluo didn’t think so. "First impressions are actually very important," she analyzed calmly. "The things the original owner did caused them to harbor deep prejudices. No matter how much I change, it will be very difficult for them to alter their ingrained perceptions. It’s just like Tushan Feishang. Even if I went to redeem him with thirty taels of silver, he wouldn’t believe my sincerity. He’d only think I’m playing tricks and wish he could kill me."

However, she wasn’t someone who easily compromised. No matter how others viewed or treated her, she was determined to live a good life. Pumping herself up, Qiao Suluo continued forward.

But right at that moment, she seemed to hear a voice.

"Wife, wife, where are you?"

"Wife..."

"Wife..."

Qiao Suluo froze. "Am I hallucinating? Why do I hear Que Hongjin and Bai Qianluo’s voices?"

She couldn’t believe it, convinced that her mind was playing tricks on her. But as she looked ahead through the rainy mist, she vaguely saw a light cutting through the darkness in the distance. It was as if the light instantly illuminated her lost and bewildered heart.

"Host, you didn’t hear wrong," the system confirmed. "They really came looking for you."

At that moment, an indescribable sense of being moved welled up in Qiao Suluo’s heart. She originally thought they hated her to death and would remain completely indifferent even if she died out here. She hadn’t expected them to actually come looking for her.

"I’m here! I’m here!" Qiao Suluo shouted loudly. However, due to her extreme exhaustion, her voice sounded somewhat weak.

Still, Que Hongjin and Bai Qianluo heard her immediately. They rushed toward her direction.

Overwhelmed with excitement, Qiao Suluo tried to hurry forward, almost forgetting about her twisted foot. Because she exerted too much force too quickly, she ended up collapsing onto the ground once more.

With a heavy THUD, Qiao Suluo found herself at a loss for words at her own clumsiness.

Just then, Que Hongjin’s figure landed in front of her like a gust of wind. "Wife, how are you?" he asked as he carefully helped her up into his arms.
