First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 3047 - The Trend Is in My Favor. What Need Is There to Rush?

  • Next Chapter

The Blackwater Celestial Capital was one of the Eternal Heavens Domain’s five Celestial Capitals. It covered an enormous territory no smaller than any of the continents.

Yet now, sword hums rumbled like thunder throughout the skies of the entire Blackwater Celestial Capital.

It would have been no exaggeration to say that the humming of the sword stirred up even the mysteries of the heavens.

Heavenly Monarchs scampered off in panic, covering tens of thousands of miles in a flash. Their speed was utterly shocking.

Some were so afraid of falling behind that they unleashed the escape techniques they typically kept in reserve. They tore through time and space as they whooshed away.

But in that moment, all of them, no matter their relative speed, felt their heart palpitate.

A moment later, a dense downpour of sword rain fell from the heavens and enveloped them.

Looking down from on high, everything was enveloped in boundless rain. Bloody fireworks bloomed amidst the downpour, then quietly faded away.

The “fireworks” were so fleeting that it was difficult not to feel forlorn.

But of course, this was no true rain and those were no true fireworks. Rather, these were countless droplets of sword qi and the splattered blood of dying Heavenly Monarchs.

The sword qi left countless gashes in the air, and the ground was riddled with holes. Sword force swept throughout the landscape, and the humming of a sword echoed overhead, on and on without end.

In the last moments before his death, Daoist Five Harmonies dropped the talisman he’d been hiding in his sleeves. It was still flashing.

The talisman contained a message he’d just received from the Court of the Southern Heavens. “Don’t provoke Su Yi. Hurry up and retreat!”

Unfortunately, the message arrived one step too late. Daoist Five Harmonies died without ever reading it.

Many of the other Heavenly Monarchs received similar messages. Some contained accounts of Su Yi’s accomplishments in the Divine Wandering Continent, including the way he and Hua Qingyi had chased Heavenly Sovereign Wen’s true body all the way back to Limitless Palace.

Some contained orders to depart the Blackwater Celestial Capital immediately.

But all of these messages arrived too late to do any good.

......

The sword rain died down, and the sword hum faded away. The Blackwater Celestial Capital returned to its usual stillness. There was no longer any trace of the recent massacre, as if everything that had just happened had been but a nightmare.

Except, of course, for the area directly in front of the Taiwu Sect. There, the ground was littered with fragmented corpses and magic treasures.

Even the nearby mountains had collapsed, and the ground was covered in scars.

It was a desolate sight.

Su Yi stood before the sect gates, his face pale and translucent. There was no hiding the exhaustion on his brow.

That final blow had practically expended his entire cultivation base and all of his heart power. He couldn’t have realized such a shocking scene otherwise.

But Su Yi had never been so satisfied in his life.

Wu Zhe and the other old monsters watched from inside the Taiwu Sect. All of them looked dazed, and a long time passed before they came back to their senses.

Su Yi... had won!

He’d defeated five Heavenly Sovereigns’ avatars of will and slaughtered the Heavenly Monarchs of five Heavenly Sovereign factions, staining the ground red!

Who would have dared to even imagine such a thing?

Throughout the ages, how many others could have accomplished such a feat?

Especially since Su Yi was still only in the Immeasurable Realm.

It was just too astonishing.

Su Yi took out a jug of wine, threw back his head, and drank. Only then did he take Heavenly Sovereign Changhen’s avatar out of the Book of Destiny.

“The battle is already over. There’s no point in destroying your avatar to fight me,” said Su Yi, releasing it. “I’m letting you leave, not to humiliate you, but so that you can help me pass on a message.”

Heavenly Sovereign Changhen’s avatar glowered. “You’re saying that going forward, you’ll be able to contend with all of our factions alone?”

Su Yi laughed. “Perhaps, not, but if I’m dead-set on revenge, I wonder how many of your factions will emerge unscathed.”

Heavenly Sovereign Changhen’s brow furrowed. He understood. Su Yi was threatening them!

Heavenly Sovereign Changhen said coldly, “You’re only seeking out your own demise. A moment’s incaution will lead to certain doom!”

Su Yi laughed. “I’ll be careful. I’ll be sure to live long enough to crush all of your true bodies beneath my feet.”

Heavenly Sovereign Changhen said expressionlessly, “It’s because you keep threatening us that we’re so determined to destroy you. Do you really think we’ll just stand back and watch as you repeatedly provoke us?”

He made no attempt to conceal his murderous intent.

“Why not try it, then?” A slender figure appeared out of nowhere, a tall, exquisite beauty in black.

This was none other than Heavenly Sovereign Qingyi!

“You?” Heavenly Sovereign Changhen laughed coldly and was just about to jeer when his expression shifted dramatically. He stammered, “You... you...”

It would have been obvious to anyone that he’d lost his composure.

Hua Qingyi said coldly, “How about Fellow Daoist Su and I become frequent guests of the Court of the Southern Heavens?”

Heavenly Sovereign Changhen’s expression shifted erratically. “No wonder Su Yi dares show himself in the Eternal Heavens Domain. So, he has a Heavenly Sovereign to back him up!”

A Heavenly Sovereign? The old monsters of the Taiwu Sect reacted as if they’d been struck by lightning. That icy, mysterious woman in black is actually a Heavenly Sovereign? Don’t tell me she’s...

All of them suddenly reached the same conclusion. She must be Heavenly Sovereign Qingyi! That long-vanished Heavenly Sovereign!

The rumors say she’s aloof and detached from worldly affairs, a solitary expert shrouded in mystery.

Wu Zhe finally understood where she got the confidence to say, “Even if the heavens fall, I’ll prop them back up.”

But none of the Taiwu Sect experts could have imagined that Su Yi would come here with Hua Qingyi. It was truly unbelievable.

“I never participated in the earlier battle. What need does Su Yi have for my support?” Hua Qingyi jeered. “You’re a Heavenly Sovereign, yet you habitually use your position to oppress others. Don’t you think that’s beneath your status?”

Heavenly Sovereign Changhen fell silent. He was now fully cognizant of just how serious the situation was!

As threatening as Su Yi was, he wasn’t enough to strike terror into the Heavenly Sovereigns’ hearts.

But if he added Hua Qingyi to the mix, it was a completely different story.

Especially since the elusive Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan was similarly determined to stand with Su Yi.

Who in the Eternal Heavens Domain could disregard Su Yi now? If he really sought revenge, what Heavenly Sovereign faction would be able to bear it?

“Go on,” said Su Yi. “Be quick about it. All you have to do is tell everyone everything you saw and heard.”

Heavenly Sovereign Changhen’s gaze was complicated. He stared intently at Su Yi for a while, then said, “Let’s just wait and see what happens!”

With that, he turned to leave. Su Yi made no effort to stop him.

The Heavenly Sovereign factions were like towering, deep-rooted trees. You could shake their trunks, but trampling them was all but impossible.

At present, Su Yi could at most say he had the foundations necessary to clash with the Heavenly Sovereigns and their factions.

When he and Hua Qingyi chased Heavenly Sovereign Wen, he might have seemed pathetic, but the moment he hid in his home base, he became all but undefeatable. There was nothing they could do to him.

Moreover, without Hua Qingyi around, Su Yi’s strength and hidden cards weren’t any match for a Heavenly Sovereign. He could at most defend himself in a pinch.

But Su Yi wasn’t in a hurry. The trend was in his favor. What need was there to rush?

Meanwhile, Sect Leader Wu Zhe and the others emerged from the Taiwu Sect and went up to greet Su Yi.

Su Yi smiled and turned to face them. “The danger is averted. The people I killed won’t affect the big picture, but now that Heavenly Sovereign Qingyi has appeared, I trust that the Heavenly Sovereign factions won’t dare to cause any further trouble for you.”

In other words, the people he’d killed would serve to intimidate their enemies, but Hua Qingyi’s appearance was a far greater threat!

Wu Zhe and the others realized what he was getting at. All of them bowed to Hua Qingyi in gratitude.

Hua Qingyi glanced at Su Yi and snorted softly. “No matter how fearsome I might be, I still had to follow your arrangements and obediently accompany you to the Taiwu Sect, didn’t I?”

Everyone was stunned. What does she mean by that? Is Heavenly Sovereign Qingyi following Su Yi’s orders now?

Su Yi laughed bitterly. How could he fail to realize that she was making fun of him?

“Come on, let’s find a place for a chat,” said Su Yi, changing the subject.

Wu Zhe reacted as if awakening from a dream. He hurriedly nodded, then invited Su Yi and Hua Qingyi into the Taiwu Sect as their honored guests.

Word of developments in the Blackwater Celestial Capital spread that very day, taking the world by storm. Everyone was flabbergasted.

The battle in the Divine Wandering Continent had ended just a few days prior. Before the world could even recover from the shock of that battle, Su Yi fought yet another battle in the Blackwater Celestial Capital!

Who could possibly have accepted this all at once?

Su Yi had suppressed five Heavenly Sovereign avatars and slain over a hundred Heavenly Monarchs!

More importantly, Heavenly Sovereign Qingyi had been there—but she hadn’t intervened. Su Yi did everything himself!

Some people couldn’t help but wonder, “Don’t tell me... Su Yi wants to overturn the heavens?”

This news shook the Heavenly Sovereign factions, too. All of them realized the severity of the problem.

What do we do? Do we seek revenge?

But Su Yi is backed by Heavenly Sovereign Qingyi, while Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan is backing the Taiwu Sect! Who’d care to cast aside all pretenses of cordiality without first pausing to weigh the consequences?

But if we just endure, what will the world think of us?

The Heavenly Sovereign factions finally realized something on a visceral level. Su Yi was now a threat they could no longer afford to ignore!

And if they wanted to target Su Yi, even they’d have to carefully weigh the consequences first!

Rumor had it that when Heavenly Sovereign Wen heard the news, he shattered his favorite teacup. Heavenly Sovereign Ling said there in silence, and Heavenly Sovereign Yaoguang stood alone beneath the night sky until sunrise. Heavenly Sovereign Wuxu apparently sighed deeply, then drank himself into a stupor.

All of them knew that after the battles in the Divine Wandering Continent and the Blackwater Celestial Capital, the trend was already in Su Yi’s favor!

If they wanted to defeat Su Yi, their disciples and grand-disciples would be far from enough. They’d have to fight personally.

That was more than sufficient proof of how great a threat Su Yi was.

He’d just crushed both Heavenly Monarchs and Heavenly Sovereigns’ avatars, alone save for the sword in his hand!

Even if you searched all of history and the entire world, you’d never find another sword cultivator like him.

Save for the Heavenly Sovereigns, no one in the Eternal Heavens Domain had any hope of defeating him!

This was Su Yi’s current prestige, the reputation he’d earned fighting in the Divine Wandering Continent and the Blackwater Celestial Capital!
