First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2515 - The Mysterious Woman in Her Dreams

Chapter 2515 – The Mysterious Woman in Her Dreams

Collisions of the soul were the most sensitive of all.

Even though Su Yi wasn’t doing it on purpose, the exquisite picture that floated into his mind left him unwittingly stunned.

Even if you’d hit him over the head, he would never have guessed that Xi Ning, who typically wore plain clothing, would have so much “capital” hidden beneath her unassuming garments.

For a moment, his very Dao Heart felt an extraordinary restlessness.

Fortunately, he could suppress it.

His soul power was like a clear, silent wind. As it flowed smoothly into the depths of Xi Ning’s soul, a wondrous, unique sensation grew in Su Yi’s soul. Unbelievable visions arose in his sea of consciousness

It was as if he were silently strolling through a smooth, fragrant, ample landscape. With each step he took, he felt as if he were walking on a soft bundle of clouds.

It was indistinct, but up ahead, he saw two snowy, jade-like mountains so tall as to pierce the clouds.

As he drew closer, he saw a chasm between the mountains, but the two mountains were too close together; the chasm was but a sliver.

When he looked up, he saw that the mountaintops were completely squeezed together. It was an incredible sight.

He squeezed through the crevice between the mountains with great difficulty and continued, gradually drawing closer to a dark, secluded basin.

Along the way, the scenery was limitlessly splendid, and the air was permeated with a soothing, clear fragrance.

Su Yi felt an inexplicable restlessness, as if a fire had lit within him. Throughout his body, his very blood itself seemed to boil.

That soft sensation and that clear fragrance were all extraordinarily suggestive and bewitching.

He continued along his journey, past a crescent-shaped cleft. When he looked further downward, he seemed to see a stretch of pitch-black darkness…

It was then that Su Yi heard a subtle moaning. The sound was muffled and almost inaudible, but it went off in Su Yi’s ears like a thunderclap, jolting him to his senses. He suddenly realized that he was using his soul as a ruler to touch and investigate some private places he had no business touching.

Su Yi’s soul shook, and he suddenly plunged into an overcast landscape. Here, all was desolate, withered, and barren. Nothing grew here, not even an inch of grass.

There was nothing on all sides. Emptiness stretched as far as the eye could see, and there was no telling what direction he was facing or where he should go from here.

Is this… the place Xi Ning keeps returning to her in her dreams? Su Yi looked around. This really is exactly as Xi Ning described. It’s run-down, desolate, and endless. There’s no sign of anything at all. Just looking at it is enough to fill the heart with desolation and grief.

Boom!!

Suddenly, a streak of sword light flashed beneath the overcast dome of heaven, cleaving through the sky and flying toward Su Yi.

Su Yi’s heart palpitated, and he immediately dodged.

The ground split, and sword qi scattered. Terrifying sword force swept outward, sending Su Yi flying backward.

His pupils constricted. What terrifying power of the Dao of the Sword!

He couldn’t tell which way it was coming from, yet it was extraordinarily powerful.

How strong must that streak of sword qi have been to send Su Yi flying despite the strength of his soul?

This strike completely extinguished the fire and agitation building in Su Yi’s heart. He completely regained his mental clarity.

He’d only just entered Xi Ning’s dreams when this unexpected development happened. How could Su Yi be in any mood to think about anything else?

Boom!

Yet another streak of sword qi appeared, flashing through the air like lightning. It was as simple as could be, yet unstoppably sharp and forceful.

This time, Su Yi was on guard. Nonetheless, this next strike forced him backward. His soul churned violently, and he looked utterly wretched.

“Hmph!” A cold, clear voice boomed throughout heaven and earth.

Is someone else here? This thought had only just occurred to Su Yi when countless streaks of sword qi arose throughout heaven and earth, surrounding him on all sides.

If he couldn’t block them, they’d leave his soul riddled with holes!

“Wait!” Su Yi decisively called out. “You must be the power of the imprint emblazoned deep within A’Ning’s soul. I’m A’Ning’s friend. Whatever you do, don’t misunderstand!”

The countless streaks of sword qi hovered there, sharp and imposing. Their auras alone were enough to give Su Yi a prickling pain in his soul.

Fortunately, they made no further attempts to attack him.

“Does being her friend give you the right to use your soul to invade her privacy with wanton abandon?” That cold, clear voice resounded throughout the overcast landscape once more. This time, it was tinged with murderous intent. “If I hadn’t stopped you in time, wouldn’t you have seized the opportunity to engage in some beastly behavior?”

Su Yi was stunned. When he thought back to that wondrous, stirring experience, his face heated up. So, she saw everything I did earlier?

This was seriously awkward!

But what wind and waves hadn’t Su Yi seen before? As uncomfortable as he felt, he outwardly maintained his calm. “When souls make contact, there’s no avoiding such things. Besides, A’Ning agreed to this.”

“Feh! She agreed to let you visit her dreams. She most certainly didn’t agree to let you engage in shameless lechery!” That cold voice seethed with murderous intent, not relenting in the slightest. “If you can’t give me a satisfactory answer, I’ll run your soul through ten thousand times over!”

Su Yi scanned the countless streaks of sword qi hovering in the air. He felt intense pressure bearing down on him. What do I do? This mysterious woman isn’t anywhere near as easy to talk to as Xi Ning.

If he really went all out, Su Yi had nothing to fear from her. He was just worried that he’d damage Xi Ning’s soul in the process.

This dreamscape was, after all, deep within Xi Ning’s soul. How could it possibly withstand such a violent conflict?

Furthermore, Su Yi could say with certainty that although this woman had attacked him with seething murderous intent, she wasn’t using her full strength. She was obviously worried about damaging Xi Ning’s soul, just like he was.

When he realized this, Su Yi said, “Have you forgotten? We’ve met before, back in the Immortal Realm’s Epoch Battlefield. You even called me ‘Daoist Brother,’ and you said that you looked forward to our next meeting. Now, we’ve finally met again. Are you really going to attack me over a little misunderstanding?”

He sounded exasperated.

That cold voice fell silent for a while before responding coldly, “Why are you here?”

As the voice rang out, the hovering streaks of sword qi silently faded away.

Su Yi inwardly sighed in relief. This proved that the speaker recognized him, and that she’d attacked in a rage earlier because he really had crossed the line when his soul touched Xi Ning’s.

“A’Ning doesn’t understand why she’s been having the same dream for years,” said Su Yi. “I was worried that something had happened to her, so I came here to investigate.”

“Oh,” said that cold, clear voice. “You… care about her?”

“Of course,” said Su Yi without even pausing to think. He didn’t feel the need to explain. When you cared for someone, you cared for them. There was no need for reasons.

After a brief silence, that cold voice said, “You can relax. This dreamscape is a sign that her latent talent and innate abilities will soon awaken. This will let her gradually realize and grow accustomed to her true identity.”

“Is that so?” asked Su Yi. “Then what is your connection to A’Ning? Why have you appeared in her soul?”

“You’ve guessed the answer to that already, haven’t you?” asked the voice.

Su Yi’s heart shook. He’d long suspected that the mysterious imprint in Xi Ning’s soul represented her past life.

Later Xi Ning told him about her recurring dream and the conversation she’d overheard between a mysterious woman and a little boy. During their conversation, the mysterious woman mentioned that she’d asked someone who’d mastered reincarnation to help her enter the cycle of rebirth.

Now, Su Yi didn’t even need to think to know that the owner of that cold voice and that mysterious woman were one and the same. She was the one who’d entered the cycle of reincarnation.

That made her Xi Ning’s past life!

Su Yi organized his scattered thoughts and said, “I can indeed guess who you are, but there’s still a lot that I don’t understand.”

“That’s because you haven’t awakened all of your memories yet either,” said that cold voice. “Once you have, you’ll naturally understand everything. You’ll have no further need to seek out answers from me.”

Su Yi was instantly frustrated. “Forgive my boldness, but… what exactly is your relationship with me?”

The woman fell silent. The atmosphere was suddenly incomparably stifled and oppressive.

Su Yi instantly realized that something wasn’t quite right here. Don’t tell me that Xi Ning’s past life wasn’t simply on intimate terms with my first incarnation after all?

Su Yi suddenly recalled the way his first incarnation’s heart devil had fallen silent when he asked about Xi Ning. He wasn’t willing to discuss her.

All of this told Su Yi that there were big problems in his first incarnation’s relationship with Xi NIng’s past life!

The heart devil said that his first incarnation had only the Grand Dao for companionship, and that he was the most boring person in the world. He had no love of beauty, fine wine, and he abstained from all emotional ties. He was completely solitary and aloof.

Does that mean that Xi Ning’s past life wasn’t anywhere near as close to him as I imagined? But in that case… Why is it that Xi Ning and I have such a strong connection and tacit understanding?

For a moment, Su Yi felt a bit dazed. He couldn’t figure it out.

After a while, that cold voice sighed. “I actually rather hope that in this lifetime, you’ll be different than the you I knew back then.

“But… if you change, will you still be the man I knew?”

She sounded both conflicted and frustrated.

But Su Yi understood. He’d reincarnated nine times. Each of his past lives’ loves, friendships, and enmities intermingled within him. It was a feeling others couldn’t possibly understand.

For instance, his son, Yi Chen, was born to Yi Daoxuan and Lu Qingmei.

In this lifetime, he’d inherited all of Yi Daoxuan’s memories and feelings. Logically speaking, he should have been able to accept this situation calmly.

But it ultimately wasn’t the same.

After all, he really was Yi Daoxuan’s reincarnation, but Yi Daoxuan was just one of his numerous past lives.

And in this lifetime, he was different from all of his past selves.

This feeling was far too complex. Even though he’d inherited all of his past lives, in this lifetime, he was himself first and foremost. Everything was different now.

Sometimes, Su Yi suspected that if problems ever arose with his heart, it would split into ten heart devils! Nine representing his past lives, one representing his current incarnation.

Even just the thought of it was terrifying…
