First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2494 - Today, I Avenge the Grudges of Past Lives

Chapter 2494 – Today, I Avenge the Grudges of Past Lives

As the sky collapsed into countless fragments, sword cuts extended between the gaps like the strands of a spiderweb.

An aura of destruction permeated the area. It was just the lingering aura of their duel, but it would have been enough to strike terror into the hearts of any Undying Realm Master God around. None would dare draw near.

Meanwhile, the ground was littered with chasms and covered in countless holes. As far as the eye could see, everything lay in ruin. The entire landscape had been laid to waste!

Two figures hovered in midair, facing each other.

Su Yi’s blue robes were stained with blood, and his body was covered in countless criss-crossing gashes. His handsome face was as pale as a sheet, but his gaze remained deep and intense, and his back remained straight.

He was like a sword piercing the firmament. Nothing could shake him.

Lu Shi stood facing him, still occupying Yun He’s body. It was severely injured, and even his topknot had come undone.

Most striking of all, there was now a bright red gash between his eyes!

“To me, this battle was satisfying, surprising, exciting, and a pity,” said Lu Shi, his voice a bit hoarse. “But now that it’s truly over, I feel… only a sense of relief.”

“Relief?” Su Yi didn’t quite understand.

Lu Shi nodded. “In the past, I couldn’t quite fathom just how mystical the power of reincarnation was, nor could I grasp how many mysteries lay hidden in the Epoch Spark.

“More importantly, I couldn’t figure out why the path you seek in this incarnation was so unbelievable on so many levels.

“You break through with astonishing speed, your strength is heaven-defying, and your path is unlike anyone else’s. Throughout the history of the God Domain, and throughout the River of Epochs, I’ve never seen someone so shrouded in riddles.”

He fixed his gaze on Su Yi. “Before this, everything I knew about you, I learned from other people. I know everything you’ve done from the moment you began this lifetime’s cultivation, but…

“The more I learn, the more questions I have. I’ve been pondering this entire time. How could someone like you exist in this world? And what kind of mysterious, unfathomable Dao of the Sword are you pursuing?

“Now, I’m starting to understand.” Lu Shi smiled. “Knowing is easy, but putting that knowledge into practice is difficult. It’s only now that I’ve fought you and tasted your strength for myself that I’ve started piecing together some answers. I might have lost this battle, but I profited enormously. I didn’t make this trip in vain!”

“Oh,” said Su Yi.

Other enemies had looked at him in much the same way, including Di E, the Malevolent Sword Venerate, and Di E.

All of them had tried to fight him personally to test their understanding of him. Their goal was to get a feel for his abilities and see through his Dao of the Sword. They thought that then, they’d be able to defeat him with ease later!

Unfortunately for them, their efforts were in vain.

“The me of today is not like the me of yesterday. Similarly, the me of tomorrow will be nothing like the me of today,” Su Yi said casually. “Your knowledge of the current me will surely be overturned another day, so what good is it?”

Lu Shi mulled that over briefly, then said directly, “Unless you can step into Eternity prior to the Dark Days of Legend, it won’t matter how much you change. I’ll still be able to anticipate it.”

Su Yi’s eyes narrowed. This analysis was apt, as the Undying Realm was, ultimately, the Undying Realm. Master Gods struggled to contend with true Eternal Laws.

Lu Shi hadn’t just grasped his current strength; he knew of Su Yi’s past achievements, too. He didn’t even need to think to know that Lu Shi knew of all the hidden cards he’d used in the past, too!

“It’s just a pity about Yun He’s body,” sighed Lu Shi.

He raised his hands and clasped his fist. “Fellow Daoist, so long as the hills remain green and the blue waters flow, we’re sure to meet again. I’m looking forward to it!”

With that, he smiled, and his body split open.

Su Yi’s earlier strike had destroyed the avatar of will controlling Yun He’s body. Now, it finally broke. Both it and Yun He’s body crumbled into ash.

“I’ll be eager to see just how highly you estimate my strength when we meet again, and what methods you’ve prepared to counter me,” Su Yi said softly.

Luo Qingdi shot over from afar and said with concern, “How are your wounds, Fellow Daoist?”

Su Yi didn’t answer. Instead, he laughed, “That was the most satisfying battle I’ve fought in the nine years since my return to the God Domain.”

Luo Qingdi was briefly stunned. When he thought back to what he’d just experienced, he couldn’t help but laugh. “It’s a pity, but I’m injured. It’s bad enough that I couldn’t witness your battle for myself. Worse, I had to flee many times over.”

Su Yi patted him on the shoulder. “At your peak, defeating Lu Shi’s avatar of will would have been as easy as turning over your hand.”

He knew better than to underestimate Luo Qingdi. This was someone who’d risen to the pinnacle of his epoch civilization. How could he possibly have been ordinary?

The way Su Yi saw it, at his peak, Luo Qingdi was likely comparable to Di E!

“I’m afraid that returning to my peak strength…. Will be difficult,” said Luo Qingdi, his gaze a bit bleak.

The battle on the Road of Celestial Guidance had destroyed his body. His soul was badly injured, too. Only a wisp of its vital source remained.

He no longer had hope of returning to his former peak.

“Where there’s life, there’s opportunity,” said Su Yi. “Especially with me here.”

Luo Qingdi had risked his life and gotten injured on the Road of Celestial Guidance to create a path for him to escape. How could Su Yi possibly forget such an act of benevolence?

He took out a jug of wine, had a sip, then looked around. “It doesn’t look like anyone else is coming. Let’s go.”

He was heavily injured, and so was Luo Qingdi. Even Xiao Xiao was in bad shape.

Still, all of them were alive. In the end, they’d won!

When they left the Tianxiu Sword Shrine and looked back, they saw that heaven and earth were dried up. The landscape lay in ruin. All was desolate.

Perhaps in the years to come, this place would transform into a forbidden zone famed throughout the God Domain. Everyone who came here would know of the legendary battle once fought here.

Outside the Tianxiu Sword Shrine.

“Brother Luo, I’ll arrange for someone to escort you safely to Sunset Perch Island,” said Su Yi. “Your little sister is there. There’s been no word from you in all this time; she’s been worried.”

Luo Qingdi couldn’t help but feel a bit ashamed.

But then, he realized something. “You aren’t going back, Fellow Daoist?”

Su Yi shook his head, put his hands behind his back, and gazed into the distance. “This isn’t over yet. This time… I’m going to counterattack!”

It was just a few light, airy sentences, but Luo Qingdi could hear the undisguisable murderous intent in his voice!

“But you’re injured…”

“It’s fine,” laughed Su Yi. “If I were the only one fighting, it’d be troublesome. Fortunately, I have a group of old friends by my side. They’d been waiting for this day for a long time.”

That’s right. Su Yi wasn’t going to endure any longer! He’d had enough of his enemies plots, and he’d gotten sick of passively responding and defending himself!

At the same time, Su Yi knew that if his enemies refused to give him peace in the days leading up to the Dark Days of Legend, they’d come up with countless ways to harangue him.

He’d have no choice but to run about putting out fires. He wouldn’t be able to focus on his cultivation like that!

Su Yi had never liked passivity. This time, he wanted to be the one to launch an attack. He’d kill until he’d overturned heaven and earth, and until everyone in the God Domain knew what they should and should not do!

That aside, Su Yi had wanted revenge for a long time.

Now, just twenty years remained until the Dark Days of Legend.

With his current cultivation, he could crush Nine-Tribulation Master Gods, and he had a group of old friends by his side.

His past lives’ grudges and enmities were like an ocean of blood. The time had come to settle things!

As they conversed, a beam of light shot over from afar.

Li Sanjiu!

It was Li Sanjiu who’d steered the treasure ship that Su Yi had used to get to the Tianxiu Sword Shrine.

When he saw Li Sanjiu and Su Yi, he visibly sighed in relief. “Shall we set off, Your Excellency Su?”

In the past, he’d addressed Su Yi as his fellow Daoist, but he’d instinctively changed Su Yi’s title. When he faced Su Yi, he felt a newfound, heartfelt respect.

Su Yi shook his head. “I’ll have to trouble you to escort Brother Luo to Sunset Perch Island. I’ll be making other arrangements.”

Li Sanjiu inclined his head.

“That aside, in accordance with our earlier plan, I need the Qilin Trading Company to gather all information relating to my enemies,” said Su Yi.

“Got it!” Li Sanjiu didn’t even pause to think. He asked, “Your Excellency, is there anything else the Qilin Trading Company can help you with?”

Su Yi shook his head. “Not at the moment.”

Before long, Li Sanjiu set off, carrying Luo Qingdi and Xiao Xiao on his treasure ship.

Su Yi stayed behind, took out a jug of wine, and drank in silence as he waited.

Time slipped by.

After a while, figures shot over from afar. These were the experts formerly gathered outside the Tianxiu Sword Shrine, including the older-generation sword cultivator Su Yi had saved.

When they saw Su Yi in the distance, the group exploded into uproar. A clamor of voices arose on all sides. Su Yi made it out alive!

That unquestionably implied that the Three Purities Daoist Court’s plans had failed.

They could even predict that when word spread, it would shake the entire God Domain and stir up massive waves of uproar!

Su Yi paid this no heed. He was waiting for someone.

Finally, a streak of sword light glinted beneath the distant dome of heaven, then appeared before Su Yi in a flash.

Upon closer inspection, he was a thin-faced man with purple robes and a sword strapped on his back. This was none other than Wan Zitian!

“Brother Fuyou, what happened to you?” exclaimed Wan Zitian.

Su Yi waved his concern away. “It’s fine. How’d it go?”

Wan Zitian said at top speeds, “Those old-timers’ preparations are already in order. Just say the word, and we’ll begin operations immediately.”

Su Yi was stunned. “No one refused?”

Wan Zitian couldn’t help but laugh. “Those old-timers would love nothing more than to overturn heaven and earth with you. How could they possibly refuse?”

Su Yi laughed too, and his heart filled with warmth. “Let’s get out of here first. Explain in more detail along the way.”

“Alright.” Wan Zitian waved his sleeve, summoning a little boat, which carried him and Su Yi away.

That very day, word of the battle in the Tianxiu Sword Shrine took all four divine continents of the God Domain by storm. Everywhere beneath the heavens shook, and everyone was in uproar.
