Chapter 2471 - The Mysteries of Divine Punishment

Chapter 2471 – The Mysteries of Divine Punishment

Symphony of Waves Palace.

This was where the Qilin Race discussed its affairs.

Qi Jingxiao and the other clan higher-ups personally invited Su Yi and Xi Ning to take a seat inside. Then, Qi Jingxiao took the initiative to bring up the recent storm.

Had their original plans gone through, after Qi Wei and Shang Yun got married, they should have been able to avoid being used as weapons and forced to become enemies with Su Yi. If Su Yi hadn’t shown up, their plans likely would have gone off without a hitch.

After finishing his explanation, Qi Jingxiao sighed, “But going into all that now is a waste of effort. There’s no way the Great Yin Divine Race will relent now.”

A worried look appeared on his face. The other higher-ups were solemn, too.

Shang Yun had been executed, and Shang Wushe had been captured alive. As satisfying as it was to watch, they knew that the Qilin Race would soon be in for disaster!

But no one rebuked Su Yi. They didn’t even utter the slightest word of recrimination.

This only left Qi Wei and Xi Ning increasingly confused.

“I already know of your unspoken difficulties and struggles,” said Su Yi. He took a sip of wine, then continued, “And I have no right to decide whether you were right or wrong. All I know is that Miss Qi Wei is my friend!”

His friend? Qi Wei’s eyelashes fluttered. So, he’s long since taken me for a friend…

A friend. The word might have seemed ordinary. Even passersby sometimes addressed each other as such.

But Qi Wei knew how difficult it was to make Su Yi accept you as a friend, and moreover, she understood how much importance he attached to the title!

Su Yi scanned the room, then said, “As her friend, I naturally couldn’t stand back and watch as the Great Yin Divine Race ruined Qi Wei’s wedding, a day of the utmost importance to her.”

The Qilin higher-ups couldn’t help but look a bit ashamed.

Her father, Qi Jingxiao, sighed, the light in his eyes dimming. “Wei’er is my own flesh and blood. Were there any other way… How could I have permitted such a thing to happen?”

Qi Wei’s delicate frame quivered. “Father, your daughter is doing this of her own free will. It has nothing to do with you!”

Qi Jingxiao waved, then said gravely, “You’ve been a thoughtful, understanding child from a young age. I know that you agreed to this marriage alliance for the sake of the clan and to alleviate my worries. Ultimately, I’m still to blame for my ineptitude; I should never have been forced to agree to this. How can you say it has nothing to do with me?”

He spoke with the utmost shame and bitterness. The others couldn’t help but sigh just listening to him.

“But now that you’re here, Fellow Daoist, the marriage will not go through.” Qi Jingxiao looked at Su Yi. “This is a blessing amidst our misfortunes.”

The others couldn’t help but nod. One look at Shang Yun’s conduct, and it was obvious that if Qi Wei really became his Dao Partner, she’d have to suffer countless grievances!

Su Yi said no more on the matter. It was just as he’d said earlier; he didn’t think he had any right to criticize the Qilin Race’s conduct. They were coming at this from different angles, and they had different concerns. That was why they made different decisions.

It was enough to try and put himself in their shoes.

“Fellow Daoist Su, you’re already strong enough to defeat a terrifying figure like Shang Wushe in a single strike. No wonder you aren’t afraid of the Great Yin Divine Race’s threats,” someone suddenly sighed.

His words resonated with many of the others.

In the battle of the Hazy Sea Forbidden Zone, it was the old friends Su Yi had brought back from the Boundless Battlefield that really drew the most attention.

No one had actually seen Su Yi’s battle with Di E. Thus, although the God Domain knew that Su Yi had proven his Dao and become Undying, only Di E knew just how strong he’d become.

But now, after seeing Su Yi capture Shang Wushe alive, Qi Jingxiao and the others’ horizons broadened.

After all, Shang Wushe was an old-timer who’d touched the threshold of the River of Destiny!

That made it obvious how heaven-defying Su Yi’s strength was!

But against all expectations, Su Yi shook his head. “No, in this battle, I relied on a petty trick.”

He then concisely explained what he’d done. It turned out that Su Yi had used the Laws of Supreme Emergence to defeat Shang Wushe!

The early days of the God Domain’s history were divided into five dazzling ages. It was the Laws that maintained the order of these five ages that formed the God Domain’s complete Will of Heaven.

These five Laws were known as the Five Supreme Source Powers. Each was one of the most primeval Laws of the God Domain.

And the Laws of Supreme Emergence were one such supreme source power!

Both those hidden in the Ruins of Supreme Emergence and those experts entering the God Domain through spacetime forbidden zones feared the backlash of the Will of Heaven above all else!

This was what people meant when they spoke of “divine punishment!”

Shang Wushe and Shang Yun weren’t of the present age. They’d come here through the Thunderwind Sea, a spacetime forbidden zone. Naturally, they weren’t exceptions to this rule.

They’d left the Thunderwind Sea and appeared in the Qilin Race’s territories simply by relying on treasures that obscured their presences.

But to Su Yi, such treasures might as well not have existed. After all, the Laws of Supreme Emergence were one of the five powers comprising divine punishment!

In a sense, Su Yi’s attacks really were no different from divine punishment. It was only natural that a single strike would be enough to suppress him.

In Su Yi’s eyes, this was playing dirty. It naturally meant little; it was barely even worth mentioning.

But to Qi Jingxiao and the others, such methods were like seizing fortune from the heavens!

“Fortune” had two different meanings. In some cases, it was a stand-in for the will of the heavens.

And Su Yi had unquestionably used his power to carry out divine punishment on behalf of the heavens!

Shang Wushe wasn’t of this age, and he shouldn’t have been able to enter it. He’d used a secret treasure to escape divine punishment, but he couldn’t escape it when it came from Su Yi!

That was why Shang Wushe had lost in a single blow. It had nothing to do with their relative strengths.

“Fellow Daoist, in that case, doesn’t that mean that any expert not of this age, no matter how strong they are, will be helpless against you? And that fighting you will be no different from facing divine punishment?” someone murmured, overcome with astonishment.

“I’m not the only one capable of this.” Su Yi shook his head. “Five ruins remain from the five ages of the early days of the God Domain’s history. Each houses one of the Laws of its natural order. The Laws of Supreme Emergence I mastered in the Ruins of Supreme Emergence are but one of the five. It’s entirely possible that others might have mastered some of the Five Supreme Source Powers, too.”

The crowd couldn’t help but look thoughtful. This was indeed a secret of enormous importance. If word spread, it would drive just about everyone crazy.

After all, anyone who managed to master one of the Five Supreme Source Powers would effectively wield the power of divine punishment. Who wouldn’t have longed for that?

But then, Qi Jingxiao shook his head. “It couldn’t possibly be so easy. If it were easy to master the Five Supreme Source Powers, how could you possibly have been the first in the God Domain’s history to master the Laws of Supreme Emergence, Fellow Daoist?”

The question actually reminded Su Yi of something. Back in the Ruins of Supreme Emergence, the Mountain Guardian mentioned that Lu Shi had once visited the ruins and tried to master the mysteries of the Whip of Supreme Emergence.

Lu Shi was the most terrifying, legendary figure of the early days of the God Domain’s history, and he’d long since become Eternal and stepped fully onto the River of Destiny. He was a core figure of Di E’s camp!

But back then, not even Lu Shi had achieved his goal. He’d missed out on mastering the Whip of Supreme Emergence!

Similarly, Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye had gained control over the Flame of Supreme Emergence, but he could at most borrow its power. He’d never really mastered it.

Combined, this proved that not just anyone could control the Five Supreme Source Powers. Were that not the case, legendary figures like Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye and Lu Shi would have succeeded long ago.

“That isn’t even the extent of it,” said an old man. “The Five Supreme Source Powers are distributed across the five divine continents, but the Central Divine Continent was laid to ruin a long time ago, becoming a lethal forbidden zone. Even now, it’s shrouded in mystery. Not even Nine-Tribulation Master Gods dare take so much as a single step inside.

“But to the best of my knowledge, one of the Five Supreme Source Powers is still hidden in the Central Divine Continent. It’s highly likely that none will ever master it.”

By now, even Qi Wei and Xi Ning understood on a deep level how unbelievable Su Yi’s mastery of the Laws of Supreme Emergence was.

“But this power is only really useful against those not of this age,” said Su Yi. “Furthermore, when the Dark Days of Legend come, the Five Supreme Source Powers will no longer be able to threaten them.”

The crowd nodded. There was no denying that.

Because the arrival of the Dark Days of Legend marked the crumbling of the natural order of the God Domain!

Xi Ning said softly, “But at least for now, it’ll make you effectively invincible against the Great Yin Divine Race.”

Su Yi smiled. “That’s indeed the case.”

What gave him the confidence to proclaim that he’d soon visit the Thunderwind Sea?

It was his mastery of the Laws of Supreme Emergence!

After chatting a while longer, Su Yi sharply changed the subject. It was time to get down to business.

“Sometimes, the only one who can solve a problem is the one who created it. I still don’t understand why an ancestral precept and Vow to the Heavens would let the Great Yin Divine Race control the Qilin to such a degree. Might you take this opportunity to explain it to me?”

This was indeed the thing Su Yi found the most confusing. He knew with certainty that neither Li Fuyou nor Yi Daoxuan had ever had any sort of special bond with the Qilin.

In this lifetime, he was only really acquainted with Qi Wei.

Yet the entire race treated him with incomparable respect!

And when the Great Yin Divine Race pushed for a marriage alliance, they lowered themselves, sacrificing Qi Wei, all for the sake of avoiding becoming his enemy!

It was just far too strange.

Take today, for instance. He’d ruined their plans, exposing them to enormous danger, but they didn’t complain in the slightest. On the contrary, they honored him as their most distinguished guest!

Su Yi had long since guessed some of the answers. Now, it was time to take this opportunity to confirm his hypothesis!

Qi Jingxiao and the other higher-ups exchanged glances. They were a bit hesitant.

But then, an aged, hoarse voice emanated from beyond the palace.

“Not even they know the full story. Allow this old man to explain.”
