Chapter 2336 - Fate, Too Wondrous for Words
Chapter 2336 – Fate, Too Wondrous for Words
The Ruins of Supreme Emergence vanished.
The experts who’d just explored it set off, one after another. Gradually, the entire area emptied out. Everything was desolate and bleak.
“Don’t tell me that heretic already escaped from right under our noses?” Liuxiang Hen transmitted.
“Impossible! Earlier, I used a secret treasure to sense everyone who left the ruins. Even if Su Yi was in disguise or hidden in someone else’s treasure, he couldn’t possibly have eluded my notice!” Master God Yun He said firmly.
“In that case, did he realize we were lying in ambush outside the ruins and decide to just remain hidden inside?”
“That’s entirely possible!”
“It’s a pity…”
…The old monsters were all deeply unwilling to accept this.
Who could possibly have forgotten the humiliation of Su Yi whipping them in the Celestial Capital?
The most frustrating part was that this entire expedition had been just one setback after another, and even now, they couldn’t find any chance to fight back!
“If he’s hiding in the Ruins of Supreme Emergence, doesn’t that mean he won’t appear during the Dark Days of Legend?”
“But of course.”
“Who could have imagined that the fearless Li Fuyou would one day shrink back and hide from battle?”
…As they conversed, the old monsters emerged from the darkness, one after another.
“Come on, let’s go.” Yue Youyuan sighed. “Even if we’re unwilling to accept this, there’s no denying that the heretic escaped disaster this time.”
He’d only just said this when he and his allies suddenly sensed something. All of them gazed into the distance.
Night was fast approaching, and the misty light of dusk was dimming.
Three figures appeared beneath the overcast dome of heaven.
A tall, upright young man in blue robes, and a man with graying temples and a sword strapped across his back.
These were none other than Su Yi and Wan Zitian!
The third figure was a small child. He was dressed in thick red Daoist robes, and he held a black umbrella even taller than he was. His little face was clear and adorable.
He was looking around and taking everything in, like a country bumpkin who’d never seen the world before. Surprise, astonishment, and excitement were written all over his face.
The child was obviously nervous; his little hands clutched his umbrella, and he stuck to Su Yi like a shadow. It was as if this was his first time going outside. His nervousness was adorable, but also rather funny.
Master God Yun He and the others glanced at him, then realized he showed no sign of a cultivation base. They promptly ignored him.
The Master Gods exchanged glances, their expressions full of irrepressible delight. This really is a glimmer of hope in a dire situation. We can still turn this around!
Who could have imagined that our target would appear just as we were about to give up?
“Hahaha! Fate is indeed too wondrous for words!” Liuxiang Hen threw back his head and laughed.
He shifted through the air and shot directly toward Su Yi, his aura firmly locked onto both Su Yi and Wan Zitian.
When the heavens wanted to kill you, the stars shifted. When men wanted to kill you, their murderous intent overturned heaven and earth.
When the Master Gods took action, the silence enveloping heaven and earth broke. Terrifying murderous intent swept outward, spreading in all directions.
But then, Su Yi laughed. “My apologies. I kept you all waiting!”
Master God Yun He and the others were stunned. From the look of things, Su Yi had delivered himself to them on purpose. They couldn’t help but find this strange.
Still, none of them panicked.
The ruins of Supreme Emergence had vanished, and there was no sign of the old monsters of the Age of Supreme Emergence.
There was no one here who could help Su Yi save for Wan Zitian and that child.
And Master God Yun He and the others were peak Nine-Tribulation Master Gods of the present day. They weren’t the least bit afraid of Su Yi’s power of Supreme Emergence!
Liuxiang Hen said inquisitively, “Who is that little fellow? He looks quite nervous. Let me guess: is he supposed to be your reinforcements?”
Master God Yun He, Yue Youyuan, and the others couldn’t help but laugh. There was no hiding the boy’s nervousness; he really looked scared out of his wits.
“Is it really that funny?” The little boy looked at them, looking harmless and innocent.
The Master Gods ignored him. Who among them could possibly have been in any mood to converse with some kid?
Liuxiang Hen looked Su Yi up and down, then said leisurely, “I’m actually quite curious to see how you escape disaster this time!”
As he spoke, the group split up, coordinating to surround Su Yi and seal off all possible escape routes.
All of them already had their Undying Weapons in hand. Their bodies seethed with murderous intent, and they were ready to fight at a moment’s notice.
Their laughter was an act; deep within their hearts, none of them dared to look down on Su Yi or Wan Zitian.
They could use contempt as part of their strategy, but in practice, they had to treat Su Yi and Wan Zitian as the most powerful of enemies!
But none of them would have guessed that before Su Yi or Wan Zitian could respond, the child they’d only just ignored would shout, “Hey! I’m talking to you! Is it really that funny?”
Liuxiang Hen couldn’t help but laugh. Still, he disregarded the boy and said to Su Yi, “Why are you letting some kid tag along and cause trouble? How is that any way to behave?”
As he spoke, he and the other old monsters drew closer to Su Yi and Wan Zitian, slowly tightening their encirclement!
The atmosphere was stifled and oppressive.
But Su Yi and Wan Zitian just stood there as if all of this were perfectly normal. They ignored their enemies completely.
Su Yi glanced down at the River Child and said, “They take you for an ordinary child. They naturally don’t care about your feelings.”
The River Child’s expression was instantly cold and cruel. “You two stay out of this!”
With that, he gripped the black umbrella and took a step forward.
Master God Yun He couldn’t help but laugh. “Su Yi, are you sending a child to his death? You sure are ruthless!”
The others burst into laughter.
Their Undying weapons rumbled in their grips. All of them were ready to strike at a moment’s notice.
“You all must be careful. If that kid turns out to be some kind of incredible expert, we’ll be in for trouble,” Yue Youyuan said with a frown.
Liuxiang Hen couldn’t help but find the idea amusing. “An expert? I’ve never seen such a ridiculous…”
Before he could finish, the River Child vanished into thin air with a monstrous boom.
A moment later, he appeared in front of Liuxiang Hen. One hand gripped the black umbrella, while the other reached for Liuxiang Hen’s throat.
Liuxiang Hen’s pupils constricted. He waved his sleeve, took out a Daoist seal, and attacked with all his might.
It might have seemed like he was flippantly provoking the River Child, but in truth, he was more cautious and on guard than anyone else here.
He’d long since sensed that there was something strange about the River Child.
Thus, when the River Child attacked, he directly unleashed the killer move he’d been building all this time.
Master God Yun He, Yue Youyuan, and the other old monsters attacked, too. Master God Yun He went straight for Su Yi, while Yue Youyuan and two other monsters attacked Wan Zitian.
They were trying to divide and conquer!
There was no doubt about it. The way they saw it, Wan Zitian was the biggest threat of the bunch.
Still, they’d sent the strongest expert in their ranks, Master God Yun He, to attack Su Yi. It was obvious how seriously they took him!
All of them launched their attacks at once. It was also obvious how well these old-timers worked together.
But… they’d miscalculated.
Before they’d even reached Su Yi or Wan Zitian, an astonishing scene unfolded.
The River Child’s outstretched hand easily broke Liuxiang Hen’s full-force attack, sending the Daoist seal flying.
Then, his power entirely undiminished, he seized Liuxiang Hen by the throat!
Liuxiang Hen’s expression froze. He was visibly horrified, and so stunned that his eyes almost popped out of their sockets. How could that pipsqueak…
But before he could respond—
Crack!
A hand crushed his neck.
Tyrannical, terrifying, corrosive power spread from his neck, shattering both his physical body and his soul with a rain of blood.
In the Ruins of Supreme Emergence, even Nine-Tribulation Master Gods would pop like soap bubbles if they fell into Reverse Flow River. The terrifying power of the current would grind them anyway to nothingness.
That was what was happening to Liuxiang Hen now!
A peak expert of the Undying Realm corroded, fell apart, and scattered into nothingness.
The only proof that Liuxiang Hen had ever existed was the blood splattered on the River Child. There was no other sign of him.
Everyone was stunned.
Still, Master God Yun He and the others had fast reaction times. All of them were still mid-charge when they retreated explosively.
Seeing Liuxiang Hen’s death from afar made them break out in cold sweats. All of them looked stricken. He destroyed a Nine-Tribulation Master God in a single effortless strike!? Just who is that child? How could he possibly be so terrifying!?
Off in the distance, Su Yi and Wan Zitian exchanged glances. They were startled by the River Child’s terrifying power, too; it was far beyond their expectations.
“I was polite to you, but you refused to listen, and you even kept making fun of me. You practically forced me to kill you!” said the River Child. “Don’t you think you’re being despicable?”
Master God Yun He and the others’ expressions were unsightly.
The River Child suddenly seemed like an entirely different person. His adorable, innocent face was now utterly cold and murderous, and his eyes were pitch-black and unsettling, like twin portals to the pits of hell.
“Retreat!” Master God Yun He and the others turned and fled without the slightest hesitation.
“Why leave?” The River Child’s brow furrowed, his gaze murderous as he waved his hand through the air.
Boom!
A black current arced through the air, coursing explosively toward Master God Yun He and the others.
Bang!!
One of Master God Yun He’s defensive treasures exploded into pieces.
He looked stricken, and his scalp went numb. He bit through the tip of his tongue, and without hesitation, he used an evasion technique that boosted his speed at the cost of damaging his cultivation base. In a flash, he’d vanished from view.
The other old monsters had long since fled, too.
The River Child was unwilling to accept this, and he chased after them in a rage.
Boom!
The power of the Laws appeared amidst the void of the sky, then came crashing down.
A massive impact rang out, and the River Child was sent flying backward. At a critical juncture, the black umbrella saved his life. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
His face filled with terror, and he scrambled back to Su Yi’s side.
Su Yi raised his hand, and a streak of inscrutable Dao Light surged forth, forming a barrier. The power of the Laws quieted down and receded. There was no further sign of it.
But the River Child was still quivering with fright. “The Laws of the outside world are just too terrifying. They’re far, far more terrifying than the Laws manifested of Supreme Emergence Source Power!”
“But…” The River Child’s eyes darted about, and his gaze filled with longing. “So long as Fellow Daoist Su is here, I have nothing to fear!”
With that, he threw himself at Su Yi and clung to his legs.
