Chapter 2322 - Flying Light Grass

Chapter 2322 – Flying Light Grass

Heaven and earth were gray and overcast. Everything was completely devoid of life.

Master Cloud Refiner and the others trailed after Su Yi.

“Everyone, I think Su Yi is most likely telling the truth. If we proceed to the outside world, we’re doomed,” said Hua Yin, transmitting his words from atop his white deer. “In that case, why follow him?”

“Supreme Emergence Source Power is divided into three parts. The Whip of Supreme Emergence, the Flame of Supreme Emergence, and the Mark of Supreme Emergence,” said Master Cloud Refiner from his black altar. “If I’m not mistaken, Su Yi has already mastered the Whip of Supreme Emergence, and he’s on his way to Sundial City to acquire the Flame of Supreme Emergence!”

He paused, then continued, “Aren’t you curious to see if he’ll succeed?”

Hua Yin’s heart shook, and he wasn’t the only one. The others looked intrigued, too.

Sundial City was the most mysterious of the three great forbidden zones of the Ruins of Supreme Emergence. Even old-timers like them dared not draw near it.

The reason was simple. Sundial City was just too dangerous!

During the Age of Supreme Emergence, three sovereigns had presided over the world. They were called the Three Venerates of Supreme Emergence.

One of them, Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye, was trapped in Sundial City!

Who’d dare draw near?

“During the Age of Supreme Emergence, Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye grasped the power of fortune and mastered the chaos divine treasure, the Blazing Sundial. In doing so, he gained control over the Flame of Supreme Emergence and established himself and became a ruler,” said Master Cloud Refiner. “I’m all but certain that those apprentice siblings are Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye’s disciples!”

This reality stunned the other old monsters. Their hearts churned.

They were peak experts of the Age of Supreme Emergence, but there was still a big gap between them and a ruling figure like Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye.

It would actually make sense if the stalwart young man and the shabbily dressed young woman were his disciples.

“Su Yi bears the power of reincarnation, and he controls the Whip of Supreme Emergence. Each of his powers is more taboo and heaven-defying than the one before,” said Master Cloud Refiner. “But if he wants to acquire the Flame of Supreme Emergence in Sundial City, he’ll have to get through Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye, first. To us, that represents an opportunity!”

The others’ spirits soared.

“Please, explain,” asked Hua Yin.

“It’s simple! If Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye wins, Su YI will have to pay a heavy price,” said Master Cloud Refiner. “He might well have to give up the power of reincarnation and the Whip of Supreme Emergence. With powers like that at his disposal, don’t you think Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye will be able to break free of Sundial City?

“When the time comes, we can welcome him, and ask him to guide us to freedom. I trust it won’t be difficult.”

Hua Yin nodded repeatedly. “Not bad, not bad at all. We’re all from the Age of Supreme Emergence. If Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye ventures into the outside world, he’ll need manpower, and we… can work on his behalf!”

Lu Song clapped excitedly. “It’s true! We know nothing of the outside world, but if we follow Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye, he’ll protect us during the Dark Days of Legend!”

But then, the colorfully dressed woman said, “Yes, but what if Su Yi wins?”

The others found the idea absurd. Win? How could he possibly? This is Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye we’re talking about!!

How could Su Yi possibly beat him?

The way they saw it, if Su Yi went to Sundial City, he was sure to be defeated.

“It’s incredibly unlikely, but if Su Yi somehow manages to acquire the Flame of Supreme Emergence in Sundial City, it wouldn’t be a bad thing for us,” said Master Cloud Refiner.

It wouldn’t be bad for us? Huh? The others were baffled.

Master Cloud Refiner said, “We and Su Yi clashed briefly, but we got to know each other in the process, and there’s no deep-seated grudge between us. If he wins, we can just seize this opportunity to establish a positive karmic connection with him!”

Lu Song frowned. “Daoist Brother, we’re peak Nine-Tribulation Master Gods. Do you seriously want us to curry favor with a junior? Wouldn’t… Wouldn’t that be an affront to our dignity?

The others didn’t say anything, but Master Cloud Refiner could tell that they were opposed to the idea, too. He couldn’t help but laugh. “This is someone who grasped the power of reincarnation, a young man even the Mountain Guardian did his utmost to assist, and the first person in history to master the Whip of Supreme Emergence. He’s an unparalleled figure, so why… are you acting like he’s just some random kid?”

The others’ expressions shifted.

“Think back to the Age of Supreme Emergence. As mighty as Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye was, he only managed to control the Flame of Supreme Emergence through the Blazing Sundial. He never really mastered its power,” Master Cloud Refiner said with a cold snort. “Compare the two of them. Surely you understand the implications?”

He paused, then said, “No matter how you feel about it, Fellow Daoist Su and I are going to be friends!”

“You’re absolutely right,” said the colorfully dressed woman. “We have to consider the bigger picture. Even Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye sent his two disciples to help Su Yi, didn’t he? I’m sure he values Su Yi’s latent potential highly!

“If even the Mountain Guardian and Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye are helping him, why can’t we?”

This time, the others’ convictions wavered.

“But as you saw earlier, Su Yi has an enormous number of enemies, all of them top experts of the present day. If we get close to Su Yi, it’ll place us in opposition with all of them,” said Hua Yin. “In that case…”

But before he could finish, the giant Xiao Bi spoke for the first time. “You want the rewards, but you don’t want to pay the corresponding price, but how could something so good exist in this world?”

Hua Yin instantly felt awkward. He explained, “I just wanted to take some time to weigh the advantages and disadvantages carefully, that’s all.”

Master Cloud Refiner said, “At least for now, we’re indeed just analysing the situation and weighing our options, as we’ve yet to see how Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye responds.”

The others nodded. Ultimately, they’d have to wait and see if Su Yi could get past Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye or not!

……

A day later, Su Yi reached Sundial City.

Master Cloud Refiner and the others hadn’t left. All of them had followed him here.

Sundial City was quite unique. It hovered in the sky, the massive city shrouded entirely in dreamlike waves of temporal power.

When the crowd arrived, they keenly sensed that the flow of temporal power had become increasingly violent and explosive!

“Fellow Daoist Su, Sundial City is divided into twelve two-hour sections. Each gives rise to different perils.

“That aside, the temporal Laws of the city are in complete chaos. Once trapped, even a Master God will lose themselves completely. The temporal power will grind away their longevity until they perish,” said the stalwart young man. “Also, I didn’t ask earlier but what exactly have you come to Sundial City for?”

Su Yi glanced at Wan Zitian. “Ol’ Wan, you go first.”

“I want a stalk of Flying Light Grass,” Wan Zitian said solemnly.

Flying Light Grass grew amidst flowing temporal power. It was an extraordinary, mystical, Undying divine lifeform.

If Wan Zitian refined a stalk, he could repair the flaws in his foundations in the Grand Dao, perfecting his Undying Realm cultivation base. Then, he could attempt to sense the River of Destiny!

If a Nine-Tribulation Master God wanted to reach the River of Destiny, sensing its presence was the first step. Only then did they have hope of touching its threshold!

Gu Huaxian and Jiao Mu were experts of this level. If Wan Zitian acquired Flying LIght Grass, he could attempt to reach it, too!

“Flying Light Grass?” The feeble young woman said suddenly, “Flying Light Grass vanished from Sundial City a long time ago.”

“It’s gone?” Wan Zitian’s expression shifted. He felt as if he’d been struck by lightning.

It wasn’t that he was mentally weak, but that Flying Light Grass was just too important to him. His future cultivation was on the line.

“That’s right. It’s gone,” said the young woman. “The only remaining stalks belong to my master.”

Wan Zitian’s mood did a complete one-eighty, going from the pits of despair to the joy of newfound hope. “Miss, next time, could you just explain the situation all at once?”

The young woman lowered her head in embarrassment. “Next time for sure.”

“Flying Light Grass is one of Master’s treasures. He won’t give it away lightly,” said the stalwart young man. “You’d best give up hope.”

Wan Zitian barely even had time to celebrate before he was dealt yet another mental blow. His expression shifted erratically.

“There are no absolutes in this world,” said Su Yi. “Your Master and the Mountain Guardian worked together to help me, so I’m sure that giving us Flying Light Grass is at least up for discussion. It’s just a matter of how great a price we’ll have to pay for it.”

Wan Zitian let out a deep breath. “Well said, Brother Fuyou!”

But the stalwart young man shook his head. “Master isn’t an agreeable sort. In the Age of Supreme Emergence, he was famous for his fiery temper; he’s the type to kill a man after a single wrong word. My junior apprentice sister and I respect him, but we fear him, too. You… really shouldn’t get your hopes up.”

Su Yi smiled noncommittally.

The young man didn’t continue on the subject. Instead, he asked, “And what about you, Fellow Daoist Su? What are you here for?”

“The Flame of Supreme Emergence,” Su Yi said casually.

The young man’s eyes widened. “Aren’t you worried that Master will crush you to death when he learns your intentions?”

The young woman looked stunned, too, and the way she looked at Su Yi shifted; it seemed she thought he’d gone insane.

Su Yi’s brow furrowed. “How is that in any way inappropriate?”

The young man explained, “Flying Light Grass is Master’s treasure, but the Flame of Supreme Emergence is like his life’s blood! Do you really think he’d give it to you?”

The young woman nodded repeatedly. ꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛʀs, ᴘʟᴀs ᴠsᴛ novel⸺fire.net

Wan Zitian was inwardly startled. He sensed that this was an incomparably thorny problem.

Su Yi quickly understood, too. If I want to acquire the Flame of Supreme Emergence, their master is going to be the biggest obstacle in my way!

But he’d only just thought this when an aged voice emanated from the distant Sundial City.

“I’ll give it to him! Why shouldn’t I?”

The voice pierced the undulating waves of temporal power, echoing clearly throughout heaven and earth.

The stalwart young man was gobsmacked. “Master!?”

The young woman’s eyes bulged, too. It seemed she hadn’t anticipated that her master would speak up at a time like this.

Su Yi and Wan Zitian exchanged glances. Their hearts shook.

Celestial Venerate Zhou Ye’s voice could bypass the waves of temporal power. That feat alone was proof of the depths of his cultivation base!
