Chapter 1093: Is Percival Dead?
Chapter 1093: Is Percival Dead?
“Ahhh…. You know what, you sumbitch? You’re alright. I misjudged you.”
Yggdrasil clung to Abaddon’s tail drunkenly. In contrast with her prior demeanor, she was now as adorable and cuddly as a real child.
Abaddon had come out of his delirium enough to remember that Yggdrasil wasn’t the one he should be hugging.
Additionally, he didn’t particularly like her.
Abaddon wanted to kick her off of him, but for now, he was focused on getting to hug Eris again.
And it wasn’t as if he was the only one.
There was a ball of meaty, tearful gods and dragons floating through the in-between and trying to get their hands on Eris.
She was a slim woman with a small amount of surface area, so the number of people that could hug her all at once was barely two.
Eris resorted to making clones so that she could hug her family members simultaneously, two at a time.
But there were problems with that as well.
“Do you have to grab the butt of the clone I am also hugging!? Literally just go and do that in private!” Nyx complained.
“Don’t judge my process! I n-never *sniff* thought I would be able to grab this little booty againnnn!!!”
Valerie cried so hard that the water she released actually knocked her glasses off her face.
Eris merely blinked in shock as her hair was soaked.
Meanwhile, Abbadon had a clone all to himself.
He held Eris like she was the most precious thing in the world to him.
Her head rested against his chest as he ran his fingers through every lock of hair, compared every ridge of her ears to his memories, and inhaled her scent as deeply as his lungs would allow.
And when he reached capacity, he just made them bigger so that he could keep sniffing.
“H-Honey… you’re crushing my head a little bit…”
“S-Shit, sorry!” Abaddon immediately lessened his grip on her and put a small amount of space between them.
Eris laughed at his sudden timidity.
“You don’t have to be so skittish. It’s almost like you’ve never had a wife come back from the dead before.”
“I just think you both should know that’s a very fucked up quality to look for in a partner…” Yggdrasil murmured drunkenly.
Abaddon shook his tail hard and flung the little girl off into the distant cosmos.
But as he saw her tumble into the void, he finally realized that something was amiss.
“Seras! I need you!”
Pasty-skinned and red-eyed, Seras appeared at hr husband’s side as a sniveling mess.
*Sniff* “Yes…?”
“Percival. Is he still alive??”
Seras’ eyes hardened once again, and she pulled out her new weapon.
Made from her very own bones, Seras’ naginata was a magical weapon that corroded the bodies and souls of those it cut.
Wounds from the weapon also did not heal. Allowing Seras to track her prey wherever they went.
She stared into the blade of her weapon with a deeply contemplative look.
“I… don’t know.” She finally said.
That was the last thing Abaddon wanted to hear.
He turned his head over his shoulder and looked towards Lailah. “Is he..?”
Lailah had Shiva suspended on a magical blue backboard.
“I closed up the wound in his neck, but his powers haven’t come back…” She sighed in disappointment.
Abaddon looked towards Apophis and the rest of his children.
“The other demons…?”
Apophis wiped the water running from his face. “Dead, for the most part… Agares, Paimon, and Baal fled.”
Abaddon was forming dangerous theories.
He could smell ash in the air. Burnt demonic flesh was a very hard smell to mistake.
Based on what he knew about Percival, Abadon was sure his soul was like a sponge that sucked up divine energy and powers to make himself and his abilities larger.
Abaddon’s flames, at full power and with direct contact, should have popped Percival’s soul in seconds, and all of the power he was holding should have come rushing out in one great big flash of light.
But the only explosion caused this day was because of Abaddon’s flames connecting with physical matter.
He was missing something. They all were.
“…Everyone, bring the injured home. I need to check something.”
–
It was dark wherever Percival was. He couldn’t breathe, he couldn’t see.
His entire body felt like it had been eaten alive by fire.
He thought he liked agony. But weakness paired with agony was cripping in a way that could not be overstated.
“It’s uncomfortable, isn’t it? Abaddon’s hit me with those flames many times over the eons… You never really get used to it. Just learn to stop showing him how bad it hurts.” A voice said.
Percival would have cursed if he could have moved his mouth.
Finally, he could see something. Two pairs of glowing white footsteps were walking towards him.
He saw the shining figures sit down beside him, and heard his father’s voice once again.
“You should really see yourself right now. Your soul would look sturdier if it were made out of tinfoil and held together with Scotch tape.”
Lucifer leaned forward and gave Percival a small flick.
The pain, however, was anything but minuscule. The Anti-Christ was sure this was the first time he had ever screamed in pain.
“Yeah…. you’re barely hanging on, huh?” Lucifer clicked his teeth and shook his head. “I gotta give it to you, kid. I don’t know if what’s keeping you going is spite or sheer tenacity, but it’s working for you. A few dozen years underground and you might even be able to put yourself back together.”
Lucifer leaned over so that he was face-to-face with Percival. His eyes were like pools of molten lava.
“But why would I let you do that when all you’ve done is sit around and make your dear old daddy fucking miserable…?”
Percival tried to say something with his usual sharp tongue, but all of his words came out as rough grumbles.
Lucifer laughed at his attempts at speech. The first time he’ done so in a long time.
He laughed until tears ran from his eyes and he caught a cramp in his wings.
“Ahh, that’s the stuff… that felt good, really good. I miss a bit of lightheartedness in my life. Since you were born, everything has been so fucking depressing.”
Percival screamed again when Lucifer grabbed his remains hard. The sound of his shrieking echoed throughout the darkness for an eternity.
“A bit of a word of advice though… Y’know, for your next life if you ever get one.” Lucifer smiled. “Harboring and enslaving other beings in your soul is all well and good. You’re certainly not the first to ever do it. But the thing is, if ever your soul is no longer strong enough to hold onto the things you’ve stolen, then naturally the one who holds the leash is bound to change.”
Percival felt something crack. His screams became louder and more intense, bordering on cries of desperation.
“Don’t worry, kid. Just leave everything to me… Oh, and as far as kids go, you were my least favorite.”
Lucifer applied a bit more force into his grip, and that was all it took.
There was a loud shattering noise within the dark space. Suddenly, a torrent of strange energy entered Lucifer’s chest.
When the light died down, Lucifer was almost transformed.
He had always been angelic, but now he was a certified godly figure.
His usual red hair had become long, blonde, and fell all the way down his back. A pair of curved black horns spiraled out of his head like an organic crown.
And then there were his eyes. They were bright orange and slanted like a goat’s.
He looked down at his hands and concentrated.
The power of destruction, creation, and sunfire swirled around in unison between his short claws. He applied a bit more concentration, and his only holy light joined the mix as well.
“…You certainly were a busy bastard, weren’t you…?”
Lucifer put his hand away distastefully and turned to the only other person in the space.
Michael had been staring at him the entire time without saying a single word. Lucifer suddenly had a difficult time meeting his brother’s eyes.
“…Sorry I stabbed you. Eris seems to have come back with some new tricks, and-”
“I care little for that. It’s not the first time.” Michael finally said.
“Right, right..” Lucifer looked down at his feet awkwardly, unsure of what he should say next.
“She won’t like this.” Michael suddenly said.
Lucifer looked around.
“Haven’t exactly seen her popping up around here lately. Maybe she finally found something more worthy of her time.”
“And if she comes back?”
“She won’t care. We’re all just pawns in the entertainment game to her, you know that.”
Lucifer suddenly stood up, and he began to fade away. Michael grabbed him by the shoulder suddenly.
“Brother… please.” He said quietly.
At the angle he stood, Michael couldn’t see the lone tear that fell from Lucifer’s eye. Nor could he see the look of regret on his face.
“…I’m not going to release you, Michael.”
The archangel was horrified. “What..?! Samael, how could you-”
“You can call me cruel. You can think me callous or evil. But throughout confinement, I have… enjoyed having you at my side again. I won’t let you go.”
Michael began to feel sick. “Samael, I have seen your love for me in these days. I know you have witnessed me reciprocate it as well. But if we are ever to be true brothers again, then you must set me free as you are now. It is not fair of you to leave me caged!”
Lucifer swallowed. He clenched his fists until the bones popped and ground his teeth against each other.
His psyche was screaming at him not to do this. To make a different decision out of regard for his brother’s happiness.
He ignored his better instincts.
“Sorry, brother. The Devil is as the Devil does.”
everybody wish me luck today. and let me hear a fuck Vanderbilt one time for the one time.
also Percival is dead now are y’all happy? I am legitimately asking not being sarcastic.
