Chapter 1066: Chapter 521: Tales from the Origin Isle (Part 2)

"I’ve witnessed a lot of things outside: among family, among friends, among companions, and found some things a bit odd."

The black-haired girl scratched her head, showing a troubled expression: "After they told me to come out, they really didn’t look for me anymore. Now I want to go back and don’t know what to do. It’s a bit strange, too."

The Sect, this organization completely exists within the mists of history, and Li Ang doesn’t know much about it.

But from the information obtained earlier, he felt that Liluliss was entrusted with some kind of mission to be sent out; she was a witch who could communicate with the Dragon God and had extraordinary power.

But then they never cared for her again, whether this is some kind of rule of the Sect, or...

Li Ang said, "Since you want to go back, then look for them. Since they exist in Nebis, surely some traces could be left, you won’t be unable to find them."

"Hmm."

Lily nodded, her eyes shining brightly.

"I will go find them, but only after I find Zoe."

Her words made Li Ang pause.

Yes, Zoe.

That’s why he came here.

Thinking back, when Lily drew that book from the wheel in Falo, he had actually decided to find an opportunity to tell her.

However, this matter was different from before.

The initial thought of considering himself and her daughter dating, but he was bound to return to the Star Flower Travel Corps and Eternal Summer, their meeting was inevitable sooner or later, there was nothing that couldn’t be said.

But since then, only a few days had passed. Besides, one time she fell asleep herself. Later, one reason was the lack of opportunity, and another was the real thing that held him back, like meeting the in-laws before getting married.

Oh heavens, after crossing over, even though he’d seen various scenarios and teamwork had shown him different contexts, this situation was the first for him, completely without experience or preparation.

But at this moment, it’s just right.

"Sorry, I have been hiding some things before."

Li Ang sat upright, earnestly facing Liluliss.

The black-haired girl had been in a prayer kneeling position, but as the prayer ended and she chatted with Li Ang, she began leaning sloppily against the outside of the tent. If not for the nun’s habit, it might have seemed a bit indecent.

Seeing his serious demeanor, she quickly sat up straight.

"Wh-what’s the matter? What’s going on?"

Li Ang cleared his throat and said, "Before I established the current Sky Cavalry ’Star Flower Travel Corps,’ I was in a guild called The Soul Apex, working as combat support and for logistics."

The matter of The Soul Apex, since getting acquainted, Lily had heard a few bits and pieces, but he hadn’t shared the whole story.

Li Ang spoke with trepidation, so he narrated some of his old adventures and reasons for leaving the guild, as a preamble, to smoothly continue onward.

Lily could easily empathize, listening to him tell of leaving the team to return to his hometown, half in shared anger, half showing a gentle expression.

She shifted her kneeling position closer to Li Ang, reaching up to pat his head, "It’s okay, it’s okay, you have new companions now, you don’t have to dwell on those things anymore."

Li Ang took a gentle breath, and some emotions within his heart suddenly melted away.

"And then, the hometown I returned to is called Satus Island."

Li Ang expected Lily to be surprised, but she merely showed a slight thoughtful expression, like the place seemed familiar but she couldn’t recall where it was.

Li Ang couldn’t bring himself to comment on her thinking. From their days of interaction, understanding and analyzing her about travel and destinations and such, it was all certainly arranged by Zoe’s father, and she had never really thought about it.

Back then, she surely hadn’t thought of being away for so long, so she didn’t consider Satus Island itself important. In her perception, she would naturally return to her daughter’s side with Zoe’s father.

Li Ang continued, "I probably lived there about ten years, now nearly eleven years, I lived alone at the time, building a wooden cabin in the mountains; I value old things, so I cleaned up before leaving, thinking if I could see some traces when I returned, they would serve as mementos."

"Was the house still there when you went back?" Lily asked curiously.

"Yes."

"Why?" the black-haired girl pursued with curiosity, like a little girl listening to a story.

"Because someone took care of it for me."

"Who?"

"Another girl living on her own, she has her own home but must have chanced upon my house and treated it as her secret base."

"Haha. She must have been quite unhappy." Lily’s thoughts instantly aligned.

"Yes, but she was quite reasonable, recognizing it was my home, she didn’t immediately make a fuss." Li Ang couldn’t help but smile.

"Really? If it were me, I’d definitely duel you for the house’s ownership."

"Cough, cough, well, sort of, we did have something like that."

Li Ang shook his head, detailing the incidents with Zoe tackling the Desert Beast and Two-legged Flying Dragon, and about her constantly challenging him and getting a lesson in return.

"Haha, she’s a bit silly, to actually get caught by a Two-legged Flying Dragon."

Lily chuckled, "You told so much, she must be your first team member, right?"

"Yes."

After Li Ang gave a positive answer, Lily said nothing, continuing to listen as he talked about grilling Two-legged Flying Dragon Eggs for her and about her daily life.

"She’s healthy, very talented, quite different from the already declining islanders on this frontier island, so she doesn’t fit among them. She’s free-spirited, longs for the outside world but lacks the power, she’s the Child of the Wind on this lone island, I believe she can truly soar in the outside world."

Lily smiled warmly, "So you accepted her as your team member."

"Yes, that’s one of the main reasons, and another is because her fate is inherently intertwined with many significant things in this world."

"Just as I got familiar with her, mutations happened, the stars sang from beneath the island, causing her to undergo special changes. That’s when I realized her unique constitution and started addressing this issue."

Li Ang recounted this all in one breath, and finally, Lily’s expression changed.

She understood.

"Yes, that girl, her name is Zoe." Li Ang said.

Liluliss was stunned.

The various situations Li Ang had imagined: getting angry and questioning, being amiably understanding, being unhappy and resentful, never appeared.

She just knelt there, her micro-expressions constantly shifting as a variety of emotions fiercely churned and collided, but whereas she would usually be vocal about anything and everything, at this moment, none of those emotions translated into a concrete expression; they all gathered in her bright eyes, manifesting as tears streaming down her face.

"This isn’t like me, I don’t like eating sour things." Lily said tearfully.

"She actually..."

"It’s so strange of me, I’ve never been like this, sorry, just give me a moment..."

Liluliss pounced onto the bed, burying her face in the blankets, her shoulders shaking as she cried for a good while.

By the time Li Ang’s body grew stiff from sitting, starting to shift positions, she finally sat up.

In the tent’s dimness, the only light was the camp’s remaining embers, so Li Ang couldn’t clearly see if her face was tear-streaked or all wiped away, but he could hear her sniffling.

Taking a tissue from the Transcendent Treasure Vault, Lily blew her nose massively, and thanked him.

"Mr. Li Ang didn’t speak about it before, were you worried I would oppose your marriage?"

"Uh, well, I was worried, but hadn’t thought that far ahead..."

Li Ang was stunned, to be honest, he hadn’t worried about that issue at all, perhaps not only believing Lily wasn’t the unreasonable type, but also confident that Zoe wouldn’t allow anyone to oppose her, not even her own mother.

But when Lily directly asked this, he hadn’t expected it.

"No, I’ve never said I was in a relationship with her!" Li Ang suddenly realized.

"Naturally, you are."

Lily propped her chin, looking at him, "Which girl around you is missing?"

"Uh, well, I... never mind, I’m indeed not a good person."

Poof. Lily laughed through her tears all at once, seemingly entangled only for that moment, her spirit incredibly lively, revealing how truly excited she felt.

She pulled out the book about parent-child relationships from a corner of the tent, "As a mother who has been absent for so long, I should thank you for taking care of her."

"That’s not necessary..."

"As a reward, I will be your henchman."

"This actually..."

After the secret was out, Li Ang felt a bit instinctively deferential in front of Lily, especially given the complex romantic relationships he had to face with her.

More than that, he was grateful for Lily’s kind nature, once frequently ribbed, now having to commend her as truly approachable and understanding.

"When will you marry her, then?" Lily asked again.

"Well, this still..."

"Alright, it’s still early now, but your wedding with Zoe must be the very first among everyone, okay?"

Lily’s tone was calm, yet a trace of fierce intent rose from her, enough to make Li Ang’s hair stand on end.
