Jiang Xia carefully placed the cat on a nearby desk and asked the class monitor to watch it. Then he motioned for Mu Tangfeng to go to the rooftop. It was open up there, a better place for a fight.

However, just as the two of them left, Shi Lan SWOOSHED after them. The class monitor let out a panicked "Hey!" and quickly gave chase.

This was the beloved cat of the two school bullies; he couldn’t afford to lose it.

Shi Lan didn’t just run off randomly. She followed Jiang Xia and Mu Tangfeng to the rooftop. Just as they took off their jackets, ready to go all out, she let out two MEOWS.

After getting Onyx, the two of them had become very sensitive to the sound of meowing, always wondering if it was their cat.

They instinctively turned toward the sound, their eyes widening. In unison, they exclaimed, "Onyx, what are you doing here?"

Shi Lan responded with another meow, then walked over and rubbed her head against each of their legs. She tilted her head and saw the jackets they had taken off in the corner. With some effort, she gripped one with her teeth and started dragging it toward Mu Tangfeng.

The reason she chose Mu Tangfeng’s first was because he, finding the ground dirty, had placed his jacket directly on top of Jiang Xia’s. His blue shirt was also lighter than Jiang Xia’s denim jacket.

It was almost December now. Young people, after all; neither was even wearing a thick jacket.

At first, Jiang Xia and Mu Tangfeng didn’t understand what Onyx meant. But after seeing her drag the jacket back, they hesitated and squatted down to look at her. "Onyx, are you telling us you don’t want us to fight?"

Shi Lan was relieved they finally understood her. For once, she cooperatively nodded her head.

A strange look flashed in Mu Tangfeng’s eyes. He pulled Jiang Xia’s hand, turned his back to Onyx, and muttered quietly, "Don’t you think... Onyx is a little too smart?"

Jiang Xia nodded in agreement. "Of course. She’s the cat we chose, after all. How could she not be smart?"

"Idiot, that’s not what I mean."

Mu Tangfeng rolled his eyes. "I’m saying, Onyx is so smart she’s like a Cat Demon."

"Hahaha, a Cat Demon? Mu Tangfeng, have you been reading some weird novels lately? Everyone knows that stuff isn’t real anymore. You actually believe in things like that?"

Jiang Xia mocked him in return. Mu Tangfeng frantically said, "Shut up! Why are you saying it so loud?"

He didn’t want Onyx to hear.

After speaking, Mu Tangfeng stared at him with his dark eyes and began to list his points. "Have you ever seen a cat look at its reflection in a puddle? Or cry because it understood we were scolding it?"

"And Onyx is so well-behaved. We bring her to school every day and she never runs around or makes a fuss. When she sees other stray cats, she completely ignores them. Most importantly, I heard from Wang Xiaotao that Onyx even secretly washes her paws after using the litter box. Think about it, what kind of cat is that fastidious?"

Shi Lan covered her face in frustration. She looked down and saw her now-dirty paws. The rooftop was dusty. Normally, her feet barely touched the ground since someone was always carrying her. That short run had turned her clean, yellow paws a dingy gray.

She glanced at Mu Tangfeng’s jacket to the side, walked over without a second thought, and started wiping the dust from her paws all over it. ’Well, he already suspects I’m a Cat Demon, and he won’t hurt me,’ she thought, ’so it’s fine if I’m a little bolder, right...?’

Mu Tangfeng and Jiang Xia finished their conversation. When Mu Tangfeng turned his head, he saw his blue shirt covered in little black paw prints. In the past, he definitely would have flown into a rage and punished the culprit. Shi Lan silently retracted her paws. ’I was just using it to wipe off dust!’

Just then, their class teacher arrived. Seeing the two of them, his expression was a little worried. He wanted to scold them but held back his temper, asking in a placating tone, "You two young masters, were you fighting again?"

Their classmates had been worried something would happen on the rooftop, so they had hurriedly told the teacher.

Jiang Xia was unhappy and just stared at the cat. Mu Tangfeng chuckled softly, gently swaying Onyx, who was bundled in the makeshift bag of his shirt. He was in an excellent mood. "We weren’t fighting, we were trying to catch our cat. We don’t like to fight, you know."

Shi Lan lost her balance and plopped down inside the shirt, staring at the teacher with wide, innocent eyes, a look of complete confusion on her face.

The class teacher glanced at the cat, knowing it was just an excuse. Seeing that nothing serious had happened between the two, he breathed a sigh of relief. "Alright, class is about to start. Head back to the classroom."

After they got back to the classroom, Jiang Xia finally found an opportunity to bundle the cat into his own denim jacket. He happily returned to his seat, hugging the cat. Mu Tangfeng held up his shirt and looked it over. There were drag marks on it from where Onyx had pulled it across the floor, as well as many paw prints.
