Chapter 424: Chapter 423: Extra 19: Let’s Go to Ocean Star 1 (Jiang Xia)

Jiang Xia was a big foodie, and Wu Wu was a little foodie. The big one and the little one were both adorable.

In Jiang Xia’s eyes, his little cub was perfect in every way. The only problem was his tendency to eat things he shouldn’t, always biting and gnawing on whatever he could find. He needed to be watched constantly.

The flowers and plants at home, along with the teacups, bowls, and chopsticks, had all fallen victim to him. Despite only having little baby teeth, he insisted on tackling anything hard.

Because their son couldn’t control what he put in his mouth, Jiang Xia hadn’t been able to properly enjoy any private time with Shi Lan since the cub was born. He couldn’t relax unless he was watching the boy, afraid he might choke to death.

One day, while scrolling online, he came across a post saying that even after having a cub, the male must make a point to spend more time alone with the female, or their bond would weaken.

So, he finally decided to act. He arranged to swap days off with Yan Huoshui. This week, Yan Huoshui would have two days of private time, and next week, it would be his turn.

Then, when it was his turn for those two days, he sent his son to his parents’ place early, letting them watch Wu Wu. Early on Thursday morning, he scooped his still-sleeping wife into his arms and carried her aboard the Teleportation Spaceship.

By the time Shi Lan woke up, they were already in outer space.

She sat in the co-pilot’s seat, groggily looking at the scenery outside. At first, she thought she was still dreaming and closed her eyes again.

Jiang Xia had switched to autopilot. The autopilot maintained a steadier speed and was less likely to disturb Shi Lan’s sleep. Besides, it allowed him to keep his eyes on his wife the entire time.

Jiang Xia turned his head to gaze at her intently. He stared until his neck ached, yet he couldn’t bear to look away. Noticing a slight change in her breathing, his eyes instantly lit up.

But when he saw Shi Lan close her eyes again, he worried she was still sleepy. He thoughtfully kept quiet, not wanting to wake her.

Even though the Teleportation Spaceship’s autopilot significantly reduced the noise, the hum of the engine and other miscellaneous sounds were still present as it traveled.

Shi Lan was a deep sleeper and not easily disturbed. Once she was awake, however, it was hard for her to fall back asleep.

She rubbed her eyes. Feeling the slight vibration from the seat beneath her, she finally realized she wasn’t dreaming. If it weren’t for the familiar, fiery intensity of Jiang Xia’s adoring gaze, she would have thought she’d been kidnapped again.

Shi Lan turned to meet his gaze, her tone a mixture of resignation and confusion. "Jiang Jiang, how did I get here? Where are we going?"

Jiang Xia’s golden eyes were filled with joy. "Lanlan, you’re awake."

He couldn’t suppress an excited laugh as he answered her question. "We’re on our way to Ocean Star. You know, ever since I bought this planet for you, we haven’t visited it even once."

Shi Lan remembered it too. Initially, she had wanted to wait until their house was built, but then a lot of other things came up. After their cub was born, she gradually forgot all about it.

"I’m sorry, Jiang Jiang," she said, feeling a little guilty. "I know I promised we’d visit, and I’ve made you wait all this time."

Jiang Xia shook his head, his long silver hair swaying like a soft, flowing stream. His eyes remained sparkling, showing no hint of disappointment. Instead, they were full of joy and enthusiasm. "Don’t worry about it, wife. If I really wanted to go, I would have made it happen. To be honest, I’d forgotten about it too."

"Oh, right. Where’s Wu Wu?"

At the mention of his name, Shi Lan thought of her son. Compared to their other cubs, Wu Wu was a bit of a handful.

Jiang Xia announced proudly, "Don’t worry, wife, I’ve already taken care of everything. I dropped him off with my parents. They’re always going on about Wu Wu anyway, so this is the perfect chance for them to spend some time with their grandson."

"That’s good, then."

Shi Lan relaxed, then looked at him with a hint of exasperation. "Jiang Jiang, if you wanted to go on a trip, you could have just told me. I haven’t even washed up or packed anything."

She had plenty of supplies stored in her Space Chain, but Shi Lan had been thinking about preparing some food for the trip.

Jiang Xia looked even more pleased with himself. He puffed out his chest. "Lanlan, I came prepared, too! I grabbed a ton of food from home, and it’s still warm. Are you hungry? Want to have a bite?"

Shi Lan looked at him, surprised. ’He really has become more thoughtful and mature since becoming a father,’ she thought. ’To think he arranged all of this.’

In reality, when he had dropped their son off at the Jiang Family home, Mr. Jiang happened to be making breakfast. Jiang Xia had seized the opportunity to make a long list of requests, shamelessly packing everything up to go.

He dropped off Wu Wu and took the food—a fair trade with no time wasted.

Mr. Jiang could only look on indulgently at his son. The only thing he stood his ground on was the portion of breakfast his own wife liked; he firmly set that aside for her.

"You’re amazing, Jiang Jiang!"

Shi Lan, unaware of these behind-the-scenes details, simply heaped praise on him. If Jiang Xia weren’t in his human form, his tail would have been sticking straight up to the sky in triumph.

’The internet was right after all,’ he thought, preening. ’Spending time alone really is the best way to nurture a relationship. We’ve barely been gone, and my wife is already praising me this much! It feels like she loves me even more now.’

’I’m so happy!!’

...

Ocean Star had once been a fairly famous tourist destination, so it wasn’t in a remote location. The journey from Capital Star took about three hours.

Ocean Star’s fame came from its numerous oceans. Combined with a year-round climate as warm as spring and an abundance of seafood, it was very popular with the public.

Even after Ocean Star changed hands, Shi Lan hadn’t closed it to tourism. As a result, she had received a considerable amount of tourism revenue in her account over the years.

She thought for a moment. "In that case," she said, "I’ll close Ocean Star to the public for the next two days. We’ll have the whole place to ourselves."

"Great!"

Jiang Xia was even happier. He had been so focused on his romantic getaway with his wife that he’d completely forgotten about that. With no other tourists to disturb them, their time alone would be truly private.

Roughly three hours later, they began to approach Ocean Star.

From a distance, Ocean Star looked like a bright blue glass marble, its color catching the eye amidst the vastness of space.

Its oceans were so vast that even from space, you could almost feel the gentle currents. Staring at it for a while, you got the sense that the planet itself was alive, as if it were breathing.

Shi Lan pressed her face against the Teleportation Spaceship’s window, unable to tear her eyes away. "It’s so beautiful," she murmured, over and over.

"It’s gorgeous!"

Jiang Xia had never seen Ocean Star up close either. He nodded in agreement. "It really, really is."

They both let out awestruck sighs. Even as the ship gradually descended to its landing point, neither could tear their gaze from the vast, azure sea stretching out below.

At first, Shi Lan hadn’t really felt like she was on vacation. But suddenly leaving the Capital Star behind and seeing such a beautiful landscape made it all feel real.

The Capital Star was all skyscrapers and high-rises. Ocean Star was completely different. Here, it was an endless expanse of sea, with only a few small landmasses. The sky was filled with soaring seagulls.

The Teleportation Spaceship was well soundproofed, so Shi Lan couldn’t hear the seagulls’ cries, but just by looking at the magnificent scene, she could imagine how lively it must be outside.

Soon, the Teleportation Spaceship touched down. Just as the two of them disembarked, someone approached to question them.

It was, after all, a private planet. Ocean Star had a dedicated administrator on duty for security and inspections. Shi Lan presented her credentials as the planet’s owner, and the person immediately became deeply respectful, saying nothing more.

In a way, the salary of a private planet’s administrator was paid by the planet’s owner.

So, Shi Lan was this administrator’s boss.
