Chapter 415: Chapter 414: Extra 10: Medical Tour to Border Defense Star 1 (He Hanshi)

After the director went into semi-retirement, Zhenxin Hospital flourished under Shi Lan’s leadership. It attracted not only numerous patients drawn by its reputation but also received many silk banners of gratitude.

These banners were related to the medical tours Shi Lan and her team conducted.

Continuing the former director’s tradition, Shi Lan led a team on a medical tour to three different planets every six months. They typically visited more underdeveloped planets where medical facilities were lacking and there was a shortage of capable female doctors, making their assistance essential.

The medical tours truly helped many people in need, so some would deliver a banner in person if they had the chance to visit the Capital Star, while others would mail them.

One room in Zhenxin Hospital was filled with silk banners of all sizes, each representing the profound respect patients held for them.

After conducting medical tours in various locations for two years, Shi Lan planned for the next one to be on the Border Defense Star. She decided to bring the former director’s instrument for detecting precise spiritual power values so Vina and the others could experience it.

As always, she made arrangements for her children and Beast Husbands at home. Then, after some thought, she decided to bring Er Er with her.

In the past, whenever she went on a medical tour, Er Er was left at home without his mother or father. He was just a lonely little cub. Even though Ye Ming and the others were very diligent in helping care for him, she knew that from a child’s perspective, it must have been heartbreaking.

So with this opportunity to visit the Border Defense Star, Shi Lan figured it was the perfect chance to take him to see his father.

Most importantly, the Border Defense Star was relatively peaceful now. The Insect Clan attacks weren’t as frequent as they used to be, and a sense of tranquility had returned, meaning there would be no danger.

When Er Er heard the news, he spent that evening diligently folding his little clothes in his room, happily packing them one by one into his Space Chain.

Children grow so fast. The Beast Husbands had originally planned to buy bracelets for their sons and necklaces for their daughters, but worried the boys would outgrow the bracelets, they opted for Space Chains for everyone instead.

「Soon, the day of departure for the medical tour arrived.」

Holding Er Er’s hand, Shi Lan led her large team toward the Border Defense Star. Because she had been kidnapped in the past, her Beast Husbands were never at ease, always providing an escort. Even for her previous medical tours, they had taken turns acting as her bodyguard.

Since He Hanshi would be there this time, they didn’t need to leave anyone extra behind. They escorted Shi Lan’s group to the Border Defense Star and only left once they confirmed He Hanshi had received them safely.

Shi Lan had lost count of how many times she had visited the Border Defense Star.

It had become so familiar that she now felt a comforting sense of coming home whenever she arrived.

He Hanshi was so busy that his designated one-on-one day with her, typically a Monday, was often missed. To give their children and herself more opportunities to see him, Shi Lan had arranged to adjust the rotation. For instance, she would trade He Hanshi’s day one week with another Beast Husband so that He Hanshi could have two days the following week.

During those two days, she could take time off to bring the children to see him. In addition, He Hanshi would also come home on weekends.

As a result, He Hanshi’s presence as a father figure was not greatly diminished during Er Er’s childhood.

The moment Er Er saw He Hanshi, a joyful smile spread across his face. He was eight years old now. In the interstellar era, children usually started formal schooling at age ten; before that, they were typically taught at home.

Eight-year-old Er Er was a shy yet handsome little boy. He was wearing a smart suit he had specially chosen from his wardrobe, complete with a sapphire-blue bow tie that complemented his blue eyes perfectly, giving him the air of a proper little gentleman.

Er Er called out softly, "Dad." He Hanshi’s gaze first fell upon his wife, lingering for a moment before he lowered his head to look at his son. He sized him up. "It looks like you’ve grown a little taller, Er Er."

"Good. It seems you’ve been diligently keeping up with your training."

Er Er secretly swelled with joy, puffing out his little chest as he tried to contain his pride. "Yes, I exercise every day."

"That’s my boy."

He Hanshi took his son’s hand, his other hand gripping his wife’s tightly as they walked toward the Hovercar.

Jiang Yan, who had also come along, watched them from the side, wiggling her eyebrows teasingly.

Shi Lan blushed, feeling a little embarrassed. Even after being a married couple for so many years, she couldn’t help but feel shy in front of so many colleagues and friends from the hospital.

Thankfully, Jiang Yan was only teasing and knew her limits. She tactfully led the other women to the Hovercars provided by the other soldiers.

Aboard He Hanshi’s Hovercar, he let Er Er sit in the driver’s seat. "Do you still remember how to drive it?" he asked in a gentle voice.

"Let Dad see how much you’ve learned."

Er Er nodded with the earnestness of a good student. "Okay, Dad. I remember."

Er Er’s small frame was perched in the spacious driver’s seat. He fastened his seatbelt, not forgetting to remind He Hanshi and Shi Lan, "Dad, Mom, you need to buckle up too! I’m about to start!"

He Hanshi had complete faith in his son, as he had let him drive by himself before back on the Capital Star. Despite his question, he was already leading his wife to the back seat, putting several meters of distance between them and their little cub.

"Alright, Er Er. Focus on your driving and don’t get distracted. Mom and Dad are counting on you for a safe ride."

"I know!"

Er Er pursed his rosy little lips in concentration, not daring to glance back at his parents for even a second as he focused on driving.

If he had turned around, he would have discovered that his father, who always appeared so dignified and stern, was at that very moment pressing his mother against the seat, kissing her with insatiable longing.

With their son in the car, Shi Lan struggled to suppress any sound from her throat. She could only glare at He Hanshi with mock anger, silently telling him to behave.

He Hanshi wanted to restrain himself, but he missed his wife far too much. Besides, whenever Shi Lan visited the territory he guarded, it felt like an innocent little rabbit willingly delivering itself to the jaws of a great White Lion, a thought that never failed to excite him.

The intense kiss was filled with an unutterable longing, pulling her into a passionate embrace.

Soon, Shi Lan grew dizzy and melted into his tenderness, her arms wrapping around his neck.

Er Er, firmly remembering his mission to protect his parents, kept the Hovercar at a slow, steady speed. Meanwhile, Shi Lan and He Hanshi kissed for nearly half the journey.

He Hanshi knew his wife was shy and couldn’t bear the thought of the awaiting soldiers seeing her so charmingly flustered. He kept an eye on their route and, about halfway there, forced himself to stop. He gently settled his wife back in her seat, stroking her soft hair as they both caught their breath.

Shi Lan’s lips were now red and swollen. Worried people would notice something when she got out of the Hovercar, she shot He Hanshi several glares. But then she saw her own teeth marks on his lips, which were just as swollen as hers, and she felt a fresh wave of embarrassment.

’So I bite pretty hard myself, huh?’

He Hanshi, however, didn’t seem to mind. With a look of penitence, he gently soothed her. "Don’t worry, they won’t notice anything. I have a sense of propriety."

Thankfully, He Hanshi was right. By the time they reached their destination, Shi Lan’s lips had returned to normal. Only a faint warmth from their intimacy lingered on her ears, but it was safely hidden beneath her hair, revealing nothing.

He Hanshi, on the other hand, still had a faint mark on his lip.
