Chapter 370: Chapter 370: The First Case

Even though Ye Ming had long known his father was behind everything, hearing him admit it aloud still filled him with an inescapable sense of being torn apart.

The Monarch didn’t care that his image was crumbling in Ye Ming’s mind. "This world has been ruled by females for far too long," he said, his voice calm and steady. "It’s time for them to step down."

"Ming’er, just think about it. If this were a world for us males, you could have any female you want, as many as you want. Everything would be yours for the taking. No other male would criticize you, and females certainly wouldn’t have a say."

"Oh, and if you want offspring, fertility drugs can make that happen. The females born can then serve as future birthing vessels, while the males strengthen society."

"Of course, the number of females is a bit low right now. My next step is to have our people research bionic robots. Besides the inability to reproduce, they will be indistinguishable from females. As for the problem of males’ spiritual power collapsing? As long as we have Shi Lan, along with Dr. Ai’s research, it’s all solvable."

"In short, this world has no need for females to hold the power..."

"Enough, Father! Lanlan is my wife, the person I love, my only partner. How could you entertain such an idea?"

Hearing the Monarch’s crazed words, Ye Ming finally couldn’t stop himself from interrupting, a cold, murderous intent creeping into his eyes.

"She’s just a slightly special female, that’s all. Relax, I won’t make Shi Lan serve other males. She only needs to heal you and me."

"Shut up! Show my wife some respect!"

This time, Ye Ming didn’t hesitate. He threw a punch right at the Monarch’s face.

The Monarch, caught up in his speech, was taken by surprise. ’Perhaps this boy’s talent truly is greater than mine,’ he thought. ’I’m getting old. I can’t match his speed.’

His face instantly swelled, throbbing with sharp pain.

The Monarch prodded his injured cheek with the tip of his tongue. His eyes narrowed, and he burst out laughing. "Look at you, so pathetic. Do you have any idea how good it feels to be the Monarch? The entire world answers your call, and females bow before you in reverence."

"The world is right there at your fingertips, ready for you to control."

"My son, you have to understand, I’m doing this for your own good. I will transform this world into one for males and create a golden age for our kind. When you take my place, you’ll have a life of limitless prosperity."

"I don’t need it. Things are fine as they are. Females and males already live in a balanced society. Why do you have to shatter it and harm so many innocent people?"

Ye Ming had never been one to crave power. More power meant greater responsibility. It was only because of his birth that he couldn’t cast his duties aside. If he had a choice, he would have preferred to be an ordinary male.

The Monarch sneered. "That’s easy for you to say when you already have it. You’re the heir. The throne will be yours sooner or later."

"Then what about you? You already have everything. You have 3S Spiritual Power, so why did you need to conduct those spiritual power-devouring experiments?"

This had always been a point of confusion for Ye Ming.

The Monarch sat back down nonchalantly and took a sip of tea to wet his throat. "Oh, that. I suppose you don’t know who Dr. Ai’s first test subject was, do you?"

"Your mother probably never told you that my spiritual power was originally only S, did she?"

Understanding dawned on Ye Ming, and his pupils constricted in shock. "You were the first case?"

"Heh heh."

"Speaking of which, you used to have an uncle. But he was just like you—too emotional, too indecisive. He was utterly captivated by some female. A Beastman with 3S Spiritual Power, and he even wanted to give up his position as heir."

The Monarch seemed lost in memory, his laughter turning cold. After a moment, he continued, "It was a happy accident. He didn’t want to be the heir, but I did. That being the case, I simply granted his wish."

As for how he discovered that devouring spiritual power could raise his own Spiritual Power Level, he had just been mimicking an advancement path from a game. He tried it on a whim and, to his surprise, it actually worked.

"So you see, you really do control your own destiny."

The Monarch’s laughter grew louder. Listening to it, Ye Ming felt a chill run down his spine, his scalp tingling with dread.

’So Father was this ruthless. He could even kill his own brother. What did that make me, his son?’

After he finished laughing, the Monarch asked abruptly, "Ming’er, will you join me? You’re so outstanding, and you’re a smart man. You must know how grand it would be to create a golden age for males."

Ye Ming looked at him, his gaze sharp and cold. "Never, Father."

’From the moment he committed so many crimes, from the moment he schemed against my wife, from the moment I learned he even wanted to kill me... we could no longer be father and son. We could only be enemies.’

Ye Ming drew a gun. It was a C36, a lethal model.

The Monarch watched him with leisurely calm. "I am your father. Are you really going to turn against your own family for the sake of justice?"

"Yes," Ye Ming said, his voice firm. "From this day forward, you are no longer my father. You are only the Monarch."

The Monarch glanced at the gun in his hand, his eyes narrowing. "Then shoot."

Ye Ming tightened his grip on the gun’s trigger. His hand paused. Just as he was about to fire, a woman’s voice, both imperious and gentle, suddenly rang out. "Ming’er, step back. Let me handle this."

Ye Ming’s eyes widened slightly. The Monarch also looked over in surprise. It was the Dean.

"Zhenzhen, what are you doing here, joining the fun?"

The Monarch looked at her with a gentle expression. "My son and I are just playing a game."

The Dean frowned, her expression cold. "Disgusting. Don’t call me that."

As she spoke, she pulled the trigger without hesitation.

A bullet shot through the air with a sharp whistle. The Monarch leaped up from his chair, swiftly dodging it.

"Wife, even though we’re divorced, aren’t you being a bit too cruel?"

"Cruel? Hah. Better than being a disgusting creature like you."

The Dean was filled with rage. She had come to find the Monarch after seeing the people Ye Ming had captured. As the Monarch’s ex-wife, she recognized many of his subordinates among them.

She had long known the Monarch was no saint, so she immediately guessed he was the mastermind behind it all.

Thinking of the tragic state of the pregnant females in the hospital, the Dean couldn’t hold back and had come straight to the palace with a gun.

The Dean hadn’t brought a lethal handgun. She knew that with the Monarch’s Spiritual Power Level, he could dodge it easily if he wanted to.

Besides, many lethal weapons had limited ammunition, making them less practical than a Light Wave Gun.

The Dean fired several more shots in succession, but the Monarch dodged them all with ease.

A man as ambitious as him would never simply allow himself to be killed.

Seeing this, Ye Ming joined in, firing from the side. He added a touch of his Talent Skill, and the bullet’s speed increased as it cut through the air. This shot actually managed to graze the Monarch’s arm.

He frowned, his dark green eyes glaring coldly at Ye Ming. "Well done. The dear son I raised so well."

"Shut up. I’m the one who gave birth to him."

The Dean yelled back, firing her gun without pause.
