It took Ye Ming about half an hour to reappear where he had vanished. The battlefield in the underground base had expanded in his absence, and the ground where he now stood was littered with only a dozen unconscious bodies and Donald’s corpse.

The moment he reappeared, his eyes swept the area. When he didn’t see Shi Lan, his brow furrowed in worry.

The sound of dripping blood—DRIP, DRIP—was grating. A pool of crimson quickly formed on the ground.

Not wanting Shi Lan to worry, Ye Ming hastily bandaged his wounds. After confirming once more that Donald wasn’t breathing, he set off to find her.

As a 3S Beastman, he had an incredibly resilient body. A few knife wounds were nothing to him. After all, as long as he was still breathing, he wouldn’t die.

He followed the trail of unconscious figures deeper into the facility and soon spotted one of his men.

The subordinate had just dealt with an enemy. Hearing a sound behind him, he spun around, ready to fire. When he saw it was Ye Ming, he quickly lowered his weapon. "Your Highness! Thank goodness you’re all right," he said, relieved.

Then, his eyes fell on the bandages Ye Ming had applied himself. The gauze had been wrapped crudely, and a large patch was already soaked crimson.

The subordinate immediately tensed up again. "Eldest Prince, you’re injured! Should you return for treatment at once?"

Ye Ming dismissed the injury. "It’s nothing, just a scratch. Where is my wife? I told you all to protect her. Where did she go?"

The subordinate looked in another direction and shook his head, a little puzzled. "Your Highness, your wife went that way earlier. She wasn’t alone, though. Leo and several other powerful males went with her to protect her. Besides, Your Highness, your wife is formidable. I don’t think you need to worry..."

After all, just a dozen minutes earlier, they had seen with their own eyes as Shi Lan conjured vines out of thin air to ensnare the males who tried to stop them.

It completely shattered their worldview. So females could awaken Talent Skills, too.

Thinking about it, the single subordinates felt another pang of envy for the Eldest Prince. With such a powerful wife, how strong would their children be?

The subordinate’s expression unknowingly soured with envy.

Ye Ming paid him no mind. He didn’t even wait for the man to finish before sprinting in the direction he had pointed. Tapping his own chip, he cursed himself internally. ’What a mistake. I forgot to give Lanlan a new chip. I could have been tracking her location this whole time. It would have been safer.’

Still, Leo was always reliable. He was by Lanlan’s side, and Ye Ming hadn’t received any distress calls from him, which had to mean Lanlan was currently safe.

With that in mind, Ye Ming had Leo send him their coordinates so he could find Shi Lan more quickly.

Leo’s reply was swift. Following the coordinates for a few minutes, Ye Ming soon arrived at Shi Lan’s location.

Shi Lan was in the area where the females were being held captive. Fortunately, they had arrived just in time. Any later, and the females would have been moved.

When Ye Ming arrived, the ground was covered in figures. The reason they were unconscious rather than dead was that standard-issue firearms were not designed to be lethal. Violent crimes were handled by special military forces, and generally, carrying lethal weapons was prohibited.

However, these figures were all wearing identical masks, obscuring their faces.

For the moment, Ye Ming didn’t pay them much mind. His gaze shifted, landing on Shi Lan. He let out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding when he saw she was unharmed. It was Shi Lan, however, who noticed the state he was in. Her eyes filled with worry. "Ye Ming, are you all right? Why is there so much blood on your bandages?"

As she spoke, she caught the arm he was raising to hug her and began to unwrap the gauze.

When she saw the angry red gash left by a dagger underneath, her expression filled with heartache.

Ye Ming’s bandaging had been so crude that it had actually made the wound split open further. Shi Lan glared at him, her voice tinged with exasperation. "Honestly, why don’t you have any regard for your own body?"

Ye Ming gazed into her dark eyes, which were filled with pain for his sake, and felt his heart swell with an indescribable happiness and contentment. Hearing her scold him, he felt uncharacteristically flustered and guilty. "I’m sorry, Lanlan," he apologized in a low voice. "I was just so desperate to find you."

Shi Lan sighed in resignation. She knew her disappearance had left a scar on his psyche. She didn’t press him further, simply focusing on carefully re-bandaging his arm. "Okay," she said. "Just be more careful next time. If that wound scars, I’ll be really upset."

"No, it won’t."

Ye Ming explained nervously. He would never allow such an ugly mark to remain on his body; things like that could easily disgust a female.

He knew his limits. He had allowed Donald to stab him twice because he knew that with his 3S Beastman constitution, the wounds would heal easily and have no lasting effect.

’Ultimately, they’re just minor injuries,’ he thought. ’Lanlan is just too worried about me.’

As he thought this, he watched Shi Lan’s face, her eyes downcast in concentration as she bandaged him, and his heart couldn’t help but melt.

’I love it when my wife cares for me like this.’

Once Shi Lan finished re-wrapping the wound and the new gauze on Ye Ming’s arm was no longer bleeding through, she told him to stand still and not move. As long as she was in his sight, Ye Ming was perfectly obedient.

Just then, Shi Lan turned her attention back to the group of females, who were all cradling their stomachs. "You’re all pregnant, and you don’t look to be in the best condition. What if I arrange for you to stay at the Director’s Zhenxin Hospital for the time being?"

Shi Lan had already discussed this with the Director. When the Director had heard the news over their comms, she had suppressed her rage and immediately agreed to Shi Lan’s proposal.

She could also tell that something was very wrong with the pregnancies of these females.

Having been released from their rooms only a short while ago, the sudden appearance of so many males terrified the females. They huddled together instinctively. Even seeing Shi Lan surrounded by Leo and his men, they looked at her with concern, trying to motion with their eyes for her to come over to them.

Even after everything they had endured, they couldn’t bear to see another young female suffer the same fate.

Fortunately, Shi Lan had explained that these men were here to rescue them. The females had lowered their guard slightly after that, but they still silently kept their distance from the males.

Now, hearing Shi Lan’s proposal, they considered it seriously for a long moment before finally nodding in agreement.

She was right. They were pregnant and in poor health; staying at a hospital would be for the best.

Besides, most of the females had heard of Zhenxin Hospital and its Director’s reputation. The fact that it was a hospital founded by a female was what made them feel they could trust it.

Seeing them agree, Shi Lan breathed a quiet sigh of relief. Her gaze then shifted to Bai Rao, who was standing at the back. Their eyes met across the distance, and Bai Rao walked forward. She bowed deeply and formally to Shi Lan. "Thank you."

It was the first time she had ever bowed to anyone with such genuine sincerity.

If Shi Lan hadn’t arrived when she did, Bai Rao might have been force-fed fertility drugs, moved to another location, and forced to mate with a male.

In that moment, Bai Rao had contemplated death, yet she couldn’t stand the thought of someone of her caliber dying in such a wretched, meaningless place.

And just as she was giving in to a rare moment of despair, Shi Lan had appeared with a group of people and swiftly dealt with their captors.
