Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All
Chapter 417-Conflicted Heart
Jaguar:
I had been so anxious ever since I came home. I couldn’t stop thinking about the tears in Verity’s eyes.
Everything she had said about us not treating the victims the same way stayed with me.
Then I remembered the way Gigi had behaved toward her.
Not to mention, Gigi had gone to Ragnar and told him that we were about to kill each other while Verity stood there laughing.
When did that even happen?
For a second, I went completely silent, even inside my own head.
We had been friends with Gigi for a long time, and I had always known her to be extremely sensitive, adorable, and caring.
But what she had done today, that little lie, didn’t sit well with me.
Maybe that was how she saw Verity. Maybe she genuinely believed Verity got a kick out of watching us fight.
’Are you excusing her behavior?’ my wolf asked.
The moment my wolf pointed it out, I shook my head.
’Of course not. She was wrong. She completely screwed us over today.’
I sat on the bed with a grim expression.
’But maybe it’s because she’s too possessive of us,’ I reasoned, nodding slightly because I truly believed that.
’Or maybe it’s because you guys have given her that much authority over your lives.’
I didn’t want to admit it.
Before now, everything had been fine.
Gigi had made good decisions for us, trying to protect us from women who wanted to use us and all that.
I had appreciated it. She had stood by us, and that meant something.
But this was different.
Verity was my fated mate.
’Gigi knew how important fated mates are, so why would she treat ours this way? Hadn’t she considered, even once, how difficult it would make things for us? Isn’t she old enough to realize that what she had done was wrong?’
I never expected my wolf to call her out so openly, especially when it was all because of Verity.
The woman we loved had been deeply hurt today.
First, she had been insulted at the mansion, and then again at the office.
Somewhere along the way, I had started to understand her pain too.
Ragnar’s girlfriend had lived with us, and we had done everything we could to make her life easier.
Theodore and I had been there for her day and night whenever she needed help.
We cheered her up, helped her whenever we could, and genuinely cared about her.
But the moment we found our own mate, Verity wasn’t given that same respect.
Ever since I came back to my room, I had been restless.
Different thoughts kept running through my head until one thing became painfully clear.
All of this was happening because of Theodore.
If Verity were only my mate, Ragnar wouldn’t have a problem with us fighting over her.
So what could I possibly do to get Theodore off her list?
Then another thought struck me.
Where had Theodore been all this time?
I mean, when I came home, I sat in the living room for quite a while, but I never saw him come in.
Even while I was in my room, I hadn’t heard any movement from his room.
I stepped into the hallway and headed toward his door.
The light was off, and apparently, one of the staff noticed me standing there because she approached almost immediately.
"Your Highness, I don’t think Alpha King Theodore is home." She smiled politely. "Do you need something?"
I shook my head and returned her smile.
As she walked away, another possibility occurred to me.
What if he had gone to Verity?
What if he was already taking credit for Ragnar giving her the job back?
He would definitely do something like that.
I immediately went downstairs, grabbed my car keys, and headed out after him.
I didn’t care where Theodore was.
He could be anywhere, as long as he hadn’t gone to the one place I didn’t want him to be.
Verity’s place.
I had to go there just to make sure.
If he wasn’t there, even better. I would get to spend some time with her.
Maybe I could convince her to give me a moment, to give me a chance to prove that I was a better option than Theodore.
Maybe I could even persuade her to choose me.
With that thought, I rushed to my car, backed out of the driveway, and headed straight for Verity’s place.
Halfway there, my phone started ringing.
Gigi!
The moment I saw her name on the screen, guilt twisted in my chest.
I still wasn’t sure whether we had made a mistake by giving her so much authority over our lives.
But at the end of the day, she was still our friend.
An innocent friend who believed we loved her deeply and would share everything with her.
Maybe that was why she had been so upset. We hadn’t told her everything. We had hidden so much from her.
And no matter how badly she had handled things, I had a strong feeling that whatever she had done came from genuine concern for us.
I couldn’t answer her calls because if she was upset and wanted me to come comfort her, I couldn’t do that right then.
At that moment, I had to look out for my own mate.
So, as guilty as I felt, I ignored the call and kept driving until I reached the Omega community.
Then I saw her house.
And there it was.
Theodore’s car was parked outside.
My fist clenched as I approached the door.
Before knocking on it, curiosity got the better of me. I wanted to know what was happening inside.
What made me even more curious was that the door seemed to be only closed, not locked.
So I slowly turned the knob and opened the door.
Even if I had made more noise, she probably wouldn’t have heard me.
Not with what was happening inside.
Loud moans of pleasure filled the air.
